    Lenses

What F stop were these shot at, all the same?? And it is the Only lens that does it??
  2. I have no clue what camera shot this, or if it has any relevance to us. But this is one, well not sure what to say, hell of a video about Forging. I can't imagine working there for years at a time. I find it Very interesting! Looks like one scary ass place to try to retire from LoL!
  3. Interesting thought. I will have to think about that LoL.
  4. Well there is nothing saying Panasonic, along with Leica, can't make APSC lenses. Why not? Couple of primes. couple of zooms, well you are off to the races!
  5. Well word on the DVXuser Forums is it is not going to be a standout on much of anything. I think it will be nice, but more of a C100ish camera. That maybe a hard thing to beat out, a C100, and a FS5. I mean I am using a AF100A and loving it, but... I see no way they can sell a camera above the cost of 5000 bucks. Maybe they will surprise us with some new things, I hope so. I am a Big Panny fan. I know I am not alone on here LoL. But I know it will maybe out of my reach money wise. I don't see how they can top your FS5 for close to the same money. But we will know soon enough I guess. This thing maybe cheap as hell and be a JVC LS300 competitor?? Who knows. It makes more sense to me. I think there is a void in that segment. You get up into 7, 8 grand you might as well buy a used Red, a used C300 mk something!
  6. Same as here, Webrunner5 same on DVXuser also
  7. Well I will admit Red was just about as bad or worse for how long it drug out. Like I said before on here I actually had a deposit on the original Red One for over 9 months. I just gave up on it ever happening. Jannard was, and is a nice guy, but the Red One was vaporware for hell nearly for 2 years. So I got my deposit back. I just gave up at that point. Worked out I guess, what I was going to use it for fell through, so... Startup stuff Does take time, but the Terra seems to be REALLY taking their time. This is at least their 3rd NAB.
  8. Well the Kinefinity Terra is pretty much a Chinese knock off of a Red for nearly Red prices. I don't see the point of having one. Best to just buy a later model Red used, and hey it works, and you have a upgrade path. Once you get above 8 grand well 2 grand more for a established product is the way to go. You can buy a Sony FS7 for that much money. I just don't see how they can survive. look what happened to Cion, and others. You can't sell cameras for nearly the same money as the top dogs and last. And you can't show up at a shoot someone is paying you 50 grand to shoot without having a Red or a Arri, is a sad reality of the business. Even a FS7 doesn't cut it, you have to at least have a F5, preferably a F55. I would be the same way if it was my money hanging out. Heck even the old original Red MX can get the job done if you can stand the boot up times, and the weight of it. You can't beat a Red for the money. A Arri, well rent one or be rich, Way out of most peoples budget. And sad to say the Panasonic Varicam is not hardly even mentioned. Pretty good camera, well a great camera, that does not get much love. I guess they Need to lower the price pretty big time on it, only thing I see for them to do. I have a comparison video up in the Shooting section that shows it may be too good! Sort of the same problem Canon seems to have with there top stuff, seems Way overpriced. The C700 is crazy money, and the C300 mkII well they have lowered it, and now the C100 mkII is Reasonable. But it sure as hell wasn't to start with. But then there was the Sony F65, WOW, now that was Expensive new! Might still be the best video camera ever made for the output on it. F35 no slouch either output wise. I am talking all this stuff I think 90% of us, or more, could never afford. Maybe the older Reds, the Canon mkI that's about it. Nice to dream about them though LoL.
  9. Yeah the new Blackmagic Video Assist firmware adds a Lot of nice things to it. Has to be my new pick. I need the SDI inputs, so even the 5" one works for me. https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/media/release/20170424-04
  10. I can hardly for some reason get Vimeo to run anymore?? But what I saw did look interesting. Looks to me the Varicam LT has the best detail. But it is too brutal for women's faces. But.. I would rather have the option to apply a softer LuT than not have the detail. YMMV.
  11. Yeah the curse of the G85 LoL. Who would have thunk! And hell, it is not even a EOS!
  12. Interesting video with Shane Hurlbut. http://nofilmschool.com/2017/04/blockbuster-cinematographer-shane-hurlbut-give-us-his-exclusive-take-nab
  13. I think Blackmagic down the road will be a powerhouse. For a new company they are going full speed ahead.
  14. This is a little footage I shoot without the Anamorphic lens on it. First try on the way to the Grand Canyon. iPhone 6s plus, 4k, with OIS on. No Gimbal. This is one using the Came TV Gimbal without the Anamorphic lens. 4k, Jerome, Arizona. That is what a Saguaros Cactus skeleton looks like! I think that is the species? I think the colors out of a iPhone are just scary good. They are sort of a miracle. But my old Samsung Note 4 in 4k was good also. I Highly recommend using Mobile Phones for Video!
  15. I have a iPhone 6s Plus with 128gb, use FilmicPro, and have a Moondog Labs 37mm screw on Anamorphic 1.33 Lens. I have the Moondog Labs filter adapter ,screw on ND filter, and their Polarizer filter. I have a Came TV 32 bit Gimbal for the phone also. The 6s plus is too heavy without modifying the Gimbal with the Anamorphic lens on it, would really need to use the smaller 6 or 7 with it, but then you loose IOS, sucks ass. But nice to have the bigger screen to frame and review though and even something to hold on too LoL.. Output in normal light it produces is pretty damn good, even in 4k. Is it a GH4, well no, but for as small as it is, with you all the time, hell why not. But I can tell you Gimbals that small are pretty damn fragile. Scares the heck out of me every time I use it. Works damn good though. 32 bit boards work wonders over 16 bit ones of the past. But the new DJI phone Gimbal maybe be as good or better?? Probably is. It came out after I bought the Came TV one. https://www.came-tv.com/products/came-action-2-3-axis-gimbal-iphone-32-bit-boards-with-encoders https://www.dji.com/osmo-mobile
  16. Video on it. https://***URL not allowed***/slr-magic-introduces-anamorphot-133x-adapter-for-169-sensor-cameras/
  17. Found this crazy cut form the film Lost Highway. Robert Blake looks like one scary Dude in it. Great casting, great scene. And this is a link to David Lynch 10 films he has done. This guy is a master to study if you are into scary ass stuff.
  18. Sort of like looking at a Sam Peckinpah movie while tripping on Acid LoL! I am not too big of fan of turquoise out the butt. But I REALLY liked how the actress was isolated using shallow DoF. Well done. Looked 3Dish, surrealist at times. Great stuff on that point. Overall I liked it a lot, but the over the top blue, well, ehh not so much.. but that is me, not others opinions.
  19. Yep, a lot of the GH5 footage I have seen also, to me, could have been shoot with a GH4. I mean most footage does Not Have to be shot in 10 bit. Heck I would think it would actually hurt the footage if you were trying to make it look like s16 film stock! And I also wonder how much of the A7s, even A7sII is being shot in camera, or is a external recorder used, and do they have an influence colors wise, etc.??As far as I have seen the GH5 does not hold a candle to the ML Raw coming out of the Canon 5D mkIII. Glenn and others have shown that thing can kick some serious butt. Not even close to a BMPCC as best I have seen. Now I guess if I was doing a commercial spot, a interview with men in it, I would use the GH5 over the other two. I can see its use, but not for being old school looking. I think it is never going to have that look in my eyes. It looks videoish. No real surprise, so does a A7s, on and on. Not my cup of tea. But what I want is not the target audience of the GH5, A7s. So I guess they have done well with it for the masses. But it won't be on my short list for Christmas. I think a lot of it maybe using 4k. I really like 4k for certain uses, but really don't like it for most stuff. It is Too good I guess, is what I am saying. Maybe down sampling it to 1080p would let it have a better output for a film looking grade. And I would guess most of us on here Are looking for a great Film looking grade output. But the $64,000.00 question is, is the GH5 the vehicle to do it with?? I guess the jury is out yet on that question. Too soon to know. But overall I don't see how it can be beat for the money. It has some serious stuff in it. I don't think we are Ever going to get a Arri output for 2000 bucks LoL. Well maybe the 5D mkIII, hmm.

    Lenses

Well if you have money to burn, these 2 lenses are well, sort of ,God I want them stuff. https://***URL not allowed***/angenieux-ez-series-zoom-lenses-finally-ready/
  21. Pretty amazing how well the price of the original, used, Sony A7s still cost. Goes without saying, it still is a hell of a good camera. I would like to have one.
  22. Main problem with the LS300 is the funky EVF and the flimsy LCD. I have no clue why they did that. I mean how much would that have cost to beef up! Stupid. With the newer firmware updates and the price having dropped a lot, yeah it is maybe the best bargain out there if you are not going to beat it to death. Maybe even better than a GH5 for production work. Heck it is now only $2,595.00 at B&H.
  23. Well I don't even think it is a m4/3 sensor in it unless Sigma just decided to build a one off Art lens for Panny. I don't see why it would be more than a Canon MkII. They are like 4400 bucks now at B&H. They sure as heck are not going to sell one for more money than that camera unless it has some groundbreaking tech in it. Any more than that, Sony FS5 territory. I have a bad feeling this thing is going to be a Hell of a lot of money. If it doesn't have a m4/3 mount, which I doubt, what the hell lenses you suppose to use on it LoL. But I would even think it is going to have to be cheaper than the C100 mkII to compete with a proven product with Canon Color Science, DPAF and damn good High ISO's, unless it is some crazy cheaper Varicam, and I really doubt that happening. But it might be one. I don't think Panasonic is selling half as many Varicams as they had hoped for. Goofy thing to me is why they didn't introduce this thing before the GH5. If it is a really nice camera, for a reasonable price a lot of people are going to be pissed that they just bought a GH5. Seems like a stupid move to piss off your loyal customers? And no, Panasonic does not own JVC anymore. Not for 5 years it looks like. https://techcrunch.com/2012/01/06/panasonic-jvc-kenwood/
