Edwin Cheng reacted to Video Hummus in A 15MP Sony Mirrorless Camera will be Announced Soon
Probably needs a fixed screen and 8 bit to make up for the 4K60p. There must always be an inexplicable nerf to keep the universe from imploding.

Edwin Cheng reacted to OliKMIA in Tilt-Shift Dronelapse - Trying something different
Hi,
Wanted to make something new so I worked on this video for several month.
Most of the tilt-shift effect is simulated in post (masking in AE), it's not as good as the real out of focus blur created by TL lenses but much more practical than having a huge drone carrying a DSLR camera. I also modded a GoPro lens that was mounted on a custom made drone (TBS Discovery with Pixhawk FC) to get the "native" effect. The inspiration for this project came from Keith Loutit, the god of tilt-shift timelpase.

Edwin Cheng reacted to mojo43 in Dog travel video filmed with Sony A7sii, GH5 and Rx100iv
We filmed Sammy the dog touring around Asheville, NC. Filming a dog is a crazy man's work. So difficult, but working with the cutest actor makes up for it haha... Let me know if you have any comments or questions!

I don't know, looks like he was hitting his marks better than a lot of the actors I've dealt with...

Edwin Cheng reacted to Arikhan in Drone for a A6500 / A7R ii / A7S ii
I would like to buy and use a drone for a Sony A6500 / A7R ii / A7S ii. So the drone should have a total payload of about 1,5kg (camera + lens). It should have FPV and - if possible - remote control for the mounted camera. 3-axis gimbal is also required. Budget is max. 5.000 Euro (for ready to fly drone only).
Are here people experienced with this? Any recommendation for companies / experienced people for such a built?
Thank you!

Edwin Cheng got a reaction from Juxx989 in Small HD DP4 Still Legit in 2017? vs IKAN DH5
Hi Juxx I have the small HD with loupe. I've not used other monitors but judging from specifications it does seem a little dated in terms of the features. No scopes, native resolution 800x480, focus assist (rather than peaking).
At the time when I bought it my thinking was to shoot a short movie and I was looking into having a rig with cage and follow focus along with rods, so the loupe seemed to fit in with that theme. The dp4 with loupe mounted is quite big... Later I discovered that this style of filmmaking was not for me, I wanted something more agile, lightweight, run and gun style. I found that the monitor itself can still fit the bill, being relatively small in size at 4.3". It is a bit more real estate than the LCD screen that is built in to your average camera so I find that it does help with framing, and focus assist is good enough.

Edwin Cheng got a reaction from Cinegain in The Sweet Spot
I'm a hybrid shooter, doing mainly travel videos of family, in recent years I've shot with the GX1, GH3, RX100 iv and A7R2.
I took a long look through all my work around a month ago to try and decide what cameras I most enjoyed shooting with and which produced my best work. I concluded that m4/3 was my sweet spot. Some of my favourite pics came from the GX1, some of my favourite video from the GH3. I found that I really missed shooting with a GX1 style body. With such a small camera, I'd be more likely to carry the camera with me. With m4/3 (as opposed to the RX100) I'd be more likely to make an effort on the photo side.
After reading Andrew's GX85 + Nocticron article and BTM_Pix's hack (tks so much guys!) I decided to pick up a GX85 a few weeks back. On the first day, I remembered why I loved Pannys UI (and disliked Sony's...) it was like coming home.
In Hong Kong you can buy a brand new GX85 for around US$420 body only. I have a feeling this will be my new "sweet spot"

Yes coming soon, just has been jostling with a lot of work. There's a ton of stuff coming up on EOSHD including DJI OSMO review, RX1 II, NX1 firmware update and lenses, Sigma 20mm F1.4 and a lot more!
Anything else people would like to see?
