Great. Thanks for the explanation Ken. That clears it up.

I will do some tests next week to how the IBIS influences my shots.

I am using a Sigma 18-35 on a Speed Booster XL so it becomes a 11.5-22.4mm. Do you guys think i need to manually change the focal length input everytime I zoom in or out? Or do you think that a middle ground setting, let's say 17mm would provide decent results?

I have a GH4, and the 0.67 XL Speedbooster, and the Sigma 18-35, and many other Canon mount lenses, love it.

However, I thought the math was, 18x2=36  36x0.67=24.12

    ?

  2. Adobe lost me years ago.

I am a long time stills photog.  When they went to the Credit Card model of Photoshop CS, I was out.

The arrogance of the mismanagement was it for me, it wasn't about price.  At the time, and still do, I felt betrayed.

I can go on and on about this bad experience, as it really hurt me personally, but I wont, they are available on the various many still photo websites.

Unfortunately, my stills workflow is still Photoshop CS6, I actually love it, as I have put huge ammount of time and monies in learning it for a comfortable workflow.

I purchased a Resolve dongle last year, and am slowly learning Davinci for my video work.

I just wish there was an AE alternative, as I always thought that app was very interesting to me.

    Good luck to us all.

I've already been swamped reading all the new audio announcements related to NAB.... There are a ton of them! So so so many new time code options, plus the shocking announcement from Sound Devices of new low priced gear. And more!

The new affordable Sound Device offerings look appealing to me also.

Speaking of NAB news, is there a favorite site for summaries, etc?

  4. I will have to post my humble anamorphic beach test video, somehow...

I love this clamp setup, my rig works great!

    Camera: GH4

Taking Lens: Minolta Rokkor 58mm f1.2 - mount converted to Canon EOS

Speedbooster: Metabones 0.64 XL - m4/3 to Canon EOS mount

Anamorphic Lens:  KOWA for Bell & Howell

    Anamorphic Clamp: Rapido V2 Clamp

  5. Wow!  I REALLY like this combination!  I want to purchase another.

Just got back from a week at the beach on Tybee Island, GA.  Unfortunately, it was VERY windy/stormy, though I did manage a few vids, and stills.

I WAS going to pop for the Core DNA rig, but, I don't think it is necessary now.

Oh, and here is a TIP - IF you disconnect the taking lens from the scope, carry along the hex key wrenches, as the filter mounts will not index the same.

Though, this should be a well known "issue" using step up/down filter ring mounts, etc...

I am sooo happy with this setup, thanks Jim!

Anamorphic desqueeze in the camera display?  Is this an option?  I would like this.

Does anyone know if in camera anamorphic desqueeze is this a planned update?
    Or not planned?
I can't remember all the news...

Unfortunately, if you use GH 5, Metabones EF-MFT and EF zoom lens in combination, the camera freezes.

It is OK for single focus EF lenses.

    Which adapter?  Which Canon lenses?

I have the 0.67 XL adapter.

My GH4/Metabones Speedbooster/Canon lenses work great!

Both my Canon EF 50/1.0 and 200/1.8, the AF works great.

I sincerely hope that Metabones update the firmware for GH5 use if there are problems!

  8. Can't wait for mine to arrive.
Currently, I have my Kowa for Bell & Howell connected to my EOS converted mount Minolta Rokkor 58/1.2.
I have it working with a Metabones XL Speedbooster and my good ol' GH4.
I am experiencing the lens attachement error occassionally, as I think the bare aluminum EOS conveterted mount is shorting out the signal.
Trying Hard As Nails nailpolish, as the sharpie trick only got scratched off.
May have to ultimately install the chipped board thingy....

I am interested if the MB SB XL 0,64 fits on the GH5 physically. I am told that it almost touches the sensor of the GH4. This would be an awesome combo. Does anybody know of a tester who used this (can't see the video above, cause I'm abroad with a smartphone and have used up my flatrate limit ...)

I am also intrested in this, as I love my MB SB XL 0.64 and GH4 combo with my EOS Canon, and manual EOS mounted  adapted lenses.

  10. Okay, thanks.

    No @buggz.

Ive tried to use this a long time ago, for transcoding I believe.

Have not looked at it since.

Oh, I bought this earlier this year, it looks promising.  I'm STILL learning all of this BTW...

Buggz, have you tried Handbrake?  It doesn't do everything that Alex D's script does, but it's a quick way to convert aspect ratios on PC.
