  1. I snagged a fs700u earlier this year for really really cheap and have really been enjoying it. I intend to have it R upgraded and get either the 7q or shogun inferno, but I've really enjoyed having it so far. I bought it because I wanted a proper camcorder style video camera with XLRs, NDs, external buttons for everything and all the other features that come with such. It hasn't disappointed in those areas at all. I've gotten some focal reducers and dumb adapters and can mount any/all my lenses on it. I do not have any native e-mount glass, but wouldn't mind picking something up
  2. Oh man, this is looking awesome. I really really hope they have an s16 mode though.
  3. I saw this in theaters last week and still have no idea what I think of it. I'd like to see it again, but probably won't do so again in theaters. I think it looked great, the performances were all really strong, but the film as a whole didn't click with me really.
  4. Awesome post bmusikaudio, thank you for sharing! Can you comment on when/how you use 16-235 vs 0-255? Great work, love all the grabs and test scenes, Please keep us informed on where we can see more!!
  5. Yeesh, had a GAS flare up this weekend and picked up 3 new lenses: Voightlander 36-82mm f/2.8 Zoomar in DKL Mount Rollei HFT 25mm f/2.8 Rollei 105mm f/2.8 Pretty excited to check these guys out when they get in
  6. Good lord, this thread took a left turn. I'm still pretty excited for this camera and it's capabilities and more over, what it means for Fuji. It seems like a step further in the video direction and that's a good thing. But is anyone else getting confused by the name? Not within the fuji line up, but I can't help but thinking of the Canon XHa1 from years ago everytime I read XH-1
  7. I bought the majority of the NX gear AFTER the non-announcement. I knew the camera division was shut down, and still through down and have bought pretty much every NX lens, the nx1 battery grip, the varavon NX1 armor cage, etc. The initial frenzy over the shut down allowed me to get all this gear at a greatly reduced cost. Yes, the resale value will eventually take a hit, but honestly that only matters if you're going to sell everything, which I really have no intention of doing at this current time. I've gotten so much out of this system, and I think my grand total investment is still less than a new nikon d850 body, or a new sony a7s or a7r. I've made my money many times over using the nx1 and nx gear and honestly haven't felt a huge call to upgrade since buying into the system in may 2015. Honestly, I'd like to wait a bit longer and pick up another nx1 or a nx500 body, or both, but the current going rate is still pretty damn high.
  8. I'd love a d850. I think there are several reasons we haven't heard/seen much from the camera so far. One is that it was sold out for awhile when it came out. The other is just Nikon's apathetic video market. I love Nikon DSLR video and still use my d7100 for certain things. I'm really intrigued by the d850, but am currently still just loving my nx1 and am very happy. In regards to the nikon 105/1.8 AIS, it's awesome! I honestly love it. I have a pretty serious damn collection of AIS lenses and I think the 105/1.8 could be one of the most underrated. Here's a sample still taken with the 105/1.8 and the nx1. I forget exact aperture settings, but it was definitely stopped down
  9. Yeah, that one stings a bit. Especially that they used what looks to be a Nikon DSLR in the video haha
  10. FCPX has been great to me/for me. But I've been a fan for awhile now. It's absolutely great for most things, just need some time to wrap your head around it.
  11. I have both versions of the 16-50 and they're great. The PZ has really fast AF and the stabilizer is great. It's really, really sharp. I can probably grab some footage for you, but I'm sure it's much sharper than the 18-200. Although not stabilized, the samsung 12-24 is actually an awesome lens too. I've been loving mine this past year. Not insanely rugged, but It's image and versatility are both very nice.
  12. I actually have the same issue with the adapter for that fujinon 12.5, is this the rainbow imaging adapter you're talking about? http://www.rainbowimaging.biz/shop/product.php?id_product=225 It looks like the deep recess would help...
  13. yeah man! Just looked up my order receipts. The most I paid was $268 for the 90/2.8 I got them on KEH, which the prices are normally good, but if you wait, every month or two they'll do a 15% off or so sale, which really helps on the leicas. I've also bought they cheapest ones you can really get, which means they have odd filter thread sizes because they're mainly series 6 and 7 filters. I was able to find step up rings for all of them though, and have gotten out of it pretty cheap and really really like them so far. They're built like tanks, they're hefty and heavy as hell and all metal, but god damn they're smooth and look great. I'll get some footage together this weekend and post it early next week
  14. I have been picking up some Leica R primes over this past year too, and have been impressed how cheap you can snag them if you're patient. I have ended up with the 35/2.8, 50/2, 90/2.8, and 135/2.8 and haven't paid more than $260 for any one of them. Still not exactly cheap, but not terribly above where contax zeiss prices these days either.
  15. I've bought a few adapters for the NX1, all the similiar cheap Fotasy or Rainbow, chinese stuff. All have been good enough for me and certainly worth the cheap price point they are at. I have the Nikon, Canon FD, Olympus Zuiko, M42, Minolta MD, Konica AR and Leica R. They're all good. For the like $8-15 they are, they're absolutely worth it. Just don't forget to buy some NX rear caps if they don't come with them.
  16. Still the same answers as above. There have been no real new adapters, so the ones listed above are what you have to choose from. Mine is still working great.
  17. If you're going to buy either of those, I'd seriously consider the Zacuto DSLR baseplate. It's an older model that is still available on some places like Adorama and I think Amazon, but is right around the price range of the items you have listed and gives you a lot more variety and options in addition to simply raising the camera. https://www.adorama.com/zczdslrb.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIgJaly8LK1gIVjlmGCh1j1QNHEAQYASABEgL1ovD_BwE
  18. Just finished a long project on nx1, about to start one using the pocket camera as the primary camera! I just bought a gx85 as well. Looking forward to learning that some.
  19. I can just speak to what I have in the way of macro. I have the Nikon 55mm f/2.8, the tamron 90mm f/2.5 SP and it's 2x macro teleconverter. I really really enjoy both. I've used the 105 Nikon and that is awesome too. I think I use the tamron most, although I don't do a ton of macro. The tamron is really cool, has an adaptable rear mount and with the TC turns into a 180mm macro. I got a great deal on mine, and the TC was cheap. Definitely check it out.
  20. I grabbed a 12-24 a few months ago and it's awesome!! I am seriously impressed with it and I already own some nice wide angle glass, but haven't been using it because of the 12-24.
  21. For me it's a mixture of money from work and gigs. I buy a lot of older SLR camera packages locally and split them up to sell them. I use the profits to buy more or buy gear. This has been a great learning experience for me and gets me a good return on my money. It's given me great opportunities to learn more about and upgrade my gear I also use 0% financing options many stores have to pay off gear over time. If you're strict about it, this can be a great option and has really helped me out.
  22. I own the Canon 28mm f/2 FD. If you like the 28mm f/2.8 Canon, go for the f/2. I think I snagged mine for ~$150 and it's worth every penny. The Nikon 28/2 is awesome too, but if you like the FD coating already, go for that.
  23. Yes, you need to have a battery internally in the camera. They sony battery adapter then charges the internal battery, like it would look if the camera was plugged into a wall outlet charging. The battery plate isn't big, I don't like the location of the 1/4 20 screw hole, but it's a minor complaint and the product is defintiely worth it for me. I haven't noticed any swelling or any real downsides to speak of with it. I mainly use the BM branded battery inside the camera when using the battery adapter.
  24. I have the sony battery adapter you just linked to and it's definitely worth picking up. I already had a lot of the sony batteries from LED lights and my Konova slider set up, so it was a no brainer for my pocket camera to be able to use all these batteries I already had. It's made a huge difference in the usability prospects of the pocket. The one I own/you linked to has been pretty good. Not the best to rig up, but I've certainly seen people using crazier/more inconvenient solutions. I like that it charges the pockets internal battery too, so if you wanted to be more mobile and unplug from the battery adapter and go more hand held, you can do this and your battery will be charged for the times you want to do it. I have 1 BM battery and around 5 offbrand ones, but the sony battery pack was definitely the way to do. Rig it up to your cage and you're good to go all day.
