Yeah that 28-70mm sounds awesome... at $1500 or less... not at $3000. I’m sure there are plenty of reasons to change the mount... but for me, the best part of the RF Mount is the EF ND adapter.

Not an apologist, I just don’t care. I like Canon color and Canon lenses. I shoot FF on my 5D3 and love it. But I also like S35mm and S16mm. I’m planning on buying an FZ2500 for a modern S16 look for a specific project I’m going to be working on this winter. I may buy an EOS-R next year as a hybrid, or I may not. But having to shoot with a crop won’t keep me from utilizing the strengths of the camera.

Supposedly, ML wanted to crack the 1DC but Canon threatened them and then never released FW to the public... you had to send it in for updates, I think. And without a public firmware, ML cannot perform a firmware dump and port a camera. But Canon never sued them and ML has cracked plenty of cameras since then.

It’s funny the last time me and the girlfriend watched a movie... she mentioned that she couldn’t really follow the story because they were shooting with a 45mm lens instead of a 28mm.

According to BH, internal is 8bit 4:22 and there is a View assist LUT to monitor Canon Log as a graded image.
-
Also, since it is mirrorless with a flange distance that matches M4/3, are there any cool PL cinema glass made for S35mm? Or any vintage Cine glass for S35mm?

Thanks, that adapter sounds amazing. Do we know the price of the adapter yet? It would be great if Canon made an RF-FD ND adapter. With the manual focus aids, FD lenses could be killer on this camera.

Cool, I can use 25mm c-mounts on it. Canon should just call it a S16 camera... marketing magic... lol.

The digital IS + lens IS = hybrid/digital 5 axis stabilization. It worked great for static shots on the XC10 but the EOS-M version was crap. The IS from the 24-70mm f/4 has 4-5 stops, so it’s better than a lot of camera’s IBIS.
-
The C-Log and focus features are definitely interesting. Do you know how the manual focus guide works? If this camera was less than 2 grand, I’d probably give it a go, but at $2300... I’m just not sure.

I don’t care about 120p. I shoot narratives so there’s rarely a need for 120p. But if it had IBIS or no crop, I’d own one by Halloween. Of course if the video looks this good, I may get one... hmm...
-
Yeah it isn’t bad but I only have a limited amount of money to spend this year and it will probably be better spent on lenses and audio gear. But I can see myself picking one of these up next summer.

I actually haven’t been that impressed with the ProRea videos from the P4K. The Raw looks great though. Either way, the Canon looks good, really good especially for a Canon release video. I like the AF and Canon Log and 10bit color.
-
Yeah according to Engadget there is the 1.7x crop... ugh... so close Canon. Without IBIS and with the crop... $2200 is too rich for my blood. Oh well. Maybe in a year or two.
-
Yeah because that’s what I wrote...
-
So which is it? Caleb Pike or Jordan Drake? That slip and slide video looks great. At first view, I think it looks better than the ProRes out of the P4K.

I don't use zebras, so does highlight alert work in video mode in most cameras?
-
I was looking closer at the specs and under the LCD panel information, it mentions zebras... well it says... "Highlight Alert The white areas with no image data will blink."

Panasonic announcing a full frame camera on Sept. 25???
mercer replied to Trek of Joy's topic in Cameras
Yeah that was a pretty severe crop but does it really matter to you... have you ever owned a Canon or even contemplated buying one? Do you foresee yourself ever buying a Canon? I think you’ve answered that in the past. I’m pretty sure it does. -

Well, the last FF camera, with 4K, Canon released was over 2 years ago. Panasonic didn’t have a 4K camera without a crop. Fuji didn’t have a 4K camera without a crop. Nikon didn’t have a 4K camera without a crop. I believe Sony was the only manufacturer that had a 4K camera without a crop...
