  1. Lens setup was my Sigma 18-35mm, Metabones BMPCC/EF Speed Booster, Hoya IR Cut, Hoya ProND 200.
  2. This was RAW 3:1. Yes, IR can be an issue, just like the Pocket. 800 is the native ISO.
  3. haha. no. you'll have to get that actual greg kinnear. nice guy by the way. he saw the micro and asked about it.
  4. From today's shoot with the Micro in bright california sun. Still amazes me how much detail is retained, especially with all that white in the frame. This is for a client so I can't leave them up indefinitely, but for now...
  5. The FPN is hard to see. You have to try very hard to make it an issue. But the potential for it is there regardless if you are capturing RAW or ProRes.
  6. smallhd 502. when weight isn't a factor, sometimes i'll hook up my odyssey 7Q+ and just use it to monitor.
  7. the preamps are better. not great. using the external mic I'd say the audio is useable for documentary or behind the scenes. but I wouldn't rely on it for narrative.
  8. Yes, internal audio is better. I still like to use a rode videomicro with it if I want something I can use, if I have to. sounds a touch better but is also more directional than the built-in mic. I'll try to take a picture of my rig today.
  9. I have both and I've only grabbed the Pocket to do side by side comparisons since the Micro arrived. Battery life is the main reason. Even with a Canon LP-E6 battery plate attached to it, that LCD screen (I assume) limits battery life to about an hour. On the Micro I get twice that with the same battery. Headed out this morning to the Santa Monica Airport for another gig that I'm shooting with it.
  10. re: Adorama. Last year, twice I placed an order for something that was in stock, only to receive notice within 24 hours that shipment was delayed and the item was backordered. I've read accounts of this happening to others too. Another time, I received another person's order. And they wouldn't ship my actual order until they received the wrong items back. Was irritated that shipping time would have been effectively tripled, so I requested a refund and had SLR Magic send me the order directly. Never had issues like this with BH. Or Amazon. In fact, BH reps have gone out of their way to help me with price matching, or to override quantity limits, etc.
  11. you could lock the cinemorph off with some quarter inch gaff tape wrapped around it. I'd also hold it steady for extra support while adjusting the ND. especially in hot weather.
  12. why else do you think every shot of him has an amber tint?
  13. The SLR Magic 1.33x Anamorphot definitely works on the Trump38. And with the 3x oval insert, I get something like this...
  14. dont get me wrong, i'm eagerly anticipating the 5K Terra. but side by side here I thought the skin tones on the BMD looked more natural than the Kinefinity. which surprised me. maybe it's the grade.
  15. oh yeah, the Terra form factor is a big plus. will be curious to see the new 5k sensor in action.
  16. interesting. prefer the skin tones on the URSA Mini 4.6K for sure. this must make you happy, aaron -- to know that the next the big thing likely won't best your camera.
  17. I have a post-fix for that. http://www.bmcuser.com/showthread.php?16955-BMD-rep-tells-me-my-Micro-Cinema-Camera-has-FPN-Should-I-send-it-in&p=208317&viewfull=1#post208317
  18. saw that last night. looks pretty good. will definitely swap my wooden camera cage out for it. keeping my eye out for it's move to "pre-order" status where you can usually get it for a 50% discount.
  19. you probably know this but thought I'd mention that their firmware isn't model-specific. if you've got an MFT/EF speedbooster in any flavor, you use the same firmware. MAC: http://metabones.com/article/of/EF-M43_Firmware_Mac WIN: http://metabones.com/article/of/EF-M43_Firmware_Win I've got a BMPCC speed booster running on a Micro, no problem. I've even got the Sigma 18-35mm that you have. So if you continue to have issues after updating to v2.2 of the firmware, something else is going on.
  20. that's funny, i feel so slow when I'm asked to cut in FCP7 or Premiere. in MC i'm so much faster. I think because I know the keyboard inside and out in MC. in the others, i'm more mouse/trackball dependent.
  21. I love Avid Media Composer. I work professionally as a freelance editor (behind the scenes, trailers, etc) and can cut on whatever NLE they put in front of me, but given the choice: Avid. v8.5.2 has been very stable for me. I'm often round-tripping between it and DaVinci Resolve Studio 12 (now 12.5 beta).
  22. my guess is that generally speaking, it's more likely to be considered heavy to a photographer who is using it with a camera body and not much else. but to a filmmaker who often already has a "lightweight" rig in the neighborhood of weighs 7 to 15lbs, the extra 1.6lbs of the 50-100mm over the 18-35mm isn't going to feel like much of a difference.
  23. I'm sorry, I would love to but the docs and commercial work I've shot so far has either been for clients, so i don't own it, or is part of a short film that I'm shooting on nights and weekends. But it looks like Shijan hooked you up.
