gatopardo got a reaction from zetty in An adventure into the Panasonic GX85/80 begins - and a look at the Leica Nocticron for Micro Four Thirds
1- For the same FOV and same lens aperture ( diferent lens on each sensor ) the crop sensor has more DOF than a full frame
2 -For the same focal lenght and same lens aperture (similar lens on each sensor ) the crop sensor has the same DOF but less FOV than a full frame.

Im just puzzled why people still are surprises when a pro stills camera meant for stills doesn't have enough video features to replace video cameras
Specially when it has something like 4k at 60fps.. Pretty advanced for a stills shooter imo.
Its one of the, if not the best, sport's photography stills cameras out there. Pretty obvious that's why they bothered with the 60fps.
It actually makes perfect sense.
Making the camera you intend to sell to sports journalists full of features for the "Indy" crowd on the other hand would be seriously wired.
Take the 1DC as an example, it costs way less used than a 1DX mki. Because the target audience would never buy some wierd "cinema gadget".

Im looking forward to completing the review, test all kinds of vintage glass like c-mounts and my K3-Bayonets.
Unfortunately I have to return it this week and don't really have time for another two weeks....
..so I have bought one
Here are 5 Reason why.
Im hoping to get my own copy in a week or so. Ordered it from Germany and they seem a bit slow. I suspect they bring them home on order.

Will probably get some new footage up tomorrow.
Tested the HD 4:2:2 Slowmo today. My copy still only have the 50/60p. But if the upcoming 120p is equally clean, it will be awesome.
50p 1/100
50p 1/100
Included this frame just to show the fence thats free from aliasing.
I also got the Mitakon 35mm f0.95 today.
Its a m4/3 mount but designed for APS-C, so full coverage.
Ungraded
Quick Grade

Next order of business
I know I said I would shoot more vintage. But the Metabones Smart Adapter side tracked me.
Received it today and the first thing I did was to make sure the stabilization in my EF lenses worked.
I also, even though I rarely use it, tested the auto focus. And I was quite surprised.
It was pretty decent on both lenses.
Better however on the 24-105, much more quite as well.
Even in the lowlight its not hunting very much.

I'd rather deal with soft footage and aliasing then have leaves, plants and limes look like they have been grown in a radioactive wasteland!

gatopardo reacted to graphicnatured in Sony FS5 - why I bought one
I totally agree with you on this. The high end Sony cams and the old F35 look fantastic, but then I look at things like Bloom's FS5 film "The Wood Carver" and think skin looks like plastic. I try to find other grading styles and see so much brown and orange-looking footage everywhere. Based on so many with such positives when it comes to A7s, FS5 etc.. I'm still holding out hope that it can make an image that would truly make me happy if I spent the money, but just when I think footage looks decent the same film includes stuff that really doesn't.

I don't these Luts at all. Ruining otherwise great footage. Horrible stuff

i think they dont look as good as the colors captured by you, and if you bought them so have other 100 people that will have the exact same look.
i think you should develop your own style, the footage is great, just tweek it a bit and it will have your signature on it.
they look instagramish, and unless there is a serious reason why they should look "green" or highly saturated because of a client or a story i am against luts and color grading.
i guess its my taste, and i am the minority here.
and as i said your footage and the dog looks awesome.

Thank you for the review Andrew, great camera and nice footage. You should work more on grading techniques. I find this terrible. Looking how great painters made color balance in their master works is one of the best way to start learning IMHO.
