Careful about brand loyalty or you'll start sounding like Red fan bois
Sony's menu system sucks.  Yep I paid $3k or whatever it was to upgrade the f3 to slog - I think I paid it twice.
The Canon C300 is made like a cheap plastic rag doll, and that thing cost like $20k in the day.
The FS7 is tinker-toys level material - but the thing is like $9k right, when the f5 is like $15k
    they all take shortcuts.
They have weird cycles of releasing the product at different times.
And in the end, yes the sony image is kind of weird looking vs canon with nice blacks.
but really at the end of the day, how much of a difference is there between the c300ii and sony fs7 line?
Below I graded quickly - but last 2 are c300 and f55 - pretty much the same.  digital bolex is better color, but has noise issues and can't go past 200 asa.  so pick a camera, find its strengths and weaknesses and that's it, who cares.
THEY ALL SUCK    Even the Alexa sucks.  And the phantom sucks.

I'd be more inclined to rent Angie DP Rouge's - I freaking love those lenses!
Again, don't underestimate the importance of glass - say what you will about Sony, but shooting F5 or F3 with Angie's or Ultra Primes is magic.
Mine has the full upgrade, and I can confirm that you can do 50/60p 10-bit 422 over single HD-SDI. Can't attest to whether it would need dual-link without.

Depends what you call 'proper' colour correction
Firstly, the F3 and F35 are very different beasts to the newer Sony cameras, with totally different sensors that behave differently.
Secondly, having shot extensively with both the F5 and F55, I'll say they're both different cameras to say an FS7. Perhaps the difference between an FS7 and F5 isn't as pronounced as say the FS7 to F55, but it's still different.
Realistically, an F55 kit should probably still sit within your budget, and the F55 is an great camera. As always, each has their quirks, but I'm very happy shooting with both the F5 and F55 if I can't rent anything else.
Keep in mind the F55 has the same CFA as the F65, so the picture is closer to an F65, the F5 has a picture closer to an FS7. Either way, if you think you're going to get A7s-looking stuff from any of these cameras simply because of SLog2/3 then you are mistaken. It's sad that Slog has had it's name somewhat tarnished by people using it in 8-bit 4:2:0.
I think more important is the glass you put on the front of it - it can transform the look of a camera.
You may also want to see if your local rental house has the new VaricamLT or an Alexa Mini - you might be able to fit them in your budget.

I'd highly recommend a Sony F5 package - I don't know the local pricing, but I'd imagine you should be able to quite easily rent a full production kit (including matte box, FF, head/legs etc.) with a basic primes set (Zeiss CP2s or maybe Cooke Minis) within your budget.
Failing that, an FS7 package. Both allow you to shoot 4k Slog3 (or REC709 if you really need).
Again, I don't know the local pricing, but most rental houses will allow you take gear for test shoots if you have an existing relationship, or have committed to a long term rental.

Still just unrelated curious about stealing shots for a cinematography real . Talking about honor.

Not that stealing ftg is the same as stealing money.

Also curious bout western union money pick up policy. That should narrow the search down quite considerably.
So you need a passport or drivers license.
How easy is it to forge this in Egypt?
I am going to assume it is easy?
And finally for me then im out....
Why didnt the person also steal a camera?
Why not just leave it as an online scam?
As the scammer said...legally the scam would hold up in court.
Stealing a 24k camera....thats easy grounds for arrest.
    In egypt!
Im sure those jails are not fun.
Still too many weird holes  for me.

This second post is just as weird...

It's pretty likely someone very close to you is the culprit (if it's really you typing Snr), as they have access to and knowledge about your gear, they also have your password (or worked it out), so surely there aren't that many possible suspects. I highly doubt many people would be able to put all those things together well and also know the finer details about an obscure piece of equipment such as the SLR RF and know it was actually worth something (it just looks like a cheap filter to any normal person). Also a common thief would just steal this product, not try and scam people online... Suspects are fairly limited I would say, unless you have an army of people working for you? Also this stuff has gone missing only recently, which should make it pretty easy to narrow down.

Thought it a curious request, and the writing and grammar inconsistent with Ebrahim's usually quite excellent English...anyway...remembered finding the post odd and the time, and then never gave it more attention till reading this thread...perhaps Jonesy can comment on what transpired after the below posted quote...it can be seen under the thread "Drones. Which one?" Its on the 2nd page of forum page 15...no idea whether it has anything to do with this mess...

Where are you located JOnsey? I've been seriously searching here for any DJI supplier new or used and there's none. Zero. I was going with the inspure plus x5r kit just for the sexiness of a raw gh4 footage. But ended up seeing it's a much much more sensible decision to start with DJI lowest end drone (Phantom 4 1080p I thinl? Why not do a pal a favpur and buy an extra one & ship it to me, as I havE no one abroad at the moment. I can transfer the fee through anu channel prior to the purchasr (we've been long enough here to trust one another) plus all the shipping and effort costs. This way we can start with a cheap phantom to really master flyinh and still do some projects with it and then have it as a fiture B aerial camera when we get an inspire, or what ever comes up then! I strongly advice going that way, the phantom 4k can produce amazingbresults  that most of youtube clients won't mind a bit, so getting that instinctive ability to drive the thing and the muscle memory on different situationd is absolutely essential before we go bigger, right? Btw a question, how do you actuall keep track of the drone and fly it? Does it give a live feed wirelesly? And if so, to what? and what range? Mters? Kilometers? And what happens when it goes out of that ramge, crasj? I more consirned about people safety as I'll be shooting incredibly high populated sma'' country (thonk like europe at rush hours in PAris UK, Etc, and and vertical crash WILL absolutelu hit someone 's skull. Of course I'll be training for months and months before taking it to a dense area, just the desert, but still accidents happen. how big and heavy is a phantom , would it cause a si,ple trauma if the worst ever happens. or concusion? Skull fracture and immediate death? If amy one has any experience of hitting people or hearing stories about people hit by these drones i'd love tp hear them, if it's seriously damaging i'll tota'ly resttict the usage to my roof
Hope yoi can read through this spelling, writing from an old npkis phone with a aphysocal leyboard.

I had the same concerns. There are a lot of red flags in this post.
If he is indeed so wealthy to where he makes the amount of scammed money in a day, then refund it. Don't say you'll refund it "someday" and then say you have no obligation to do anything.
And the biggest red flag of all is the "this will be my last post, I'm leaving forever". That is NOT something a innocent person would do. Saying you're worried about more scammers is not a logical concern.
Someone who was actually trying to make things right would not cut themselves off from us and the victims. But you know who would? A scammer.
It all just seems very transparent to me. The whole "this is terrible, I'd never do this! I'm so rich, why would I need to do this? Even though I'm so loaded and people were scammed of thousands of dollars in my name, I have no obligation to pay. But I will! Someday....oh by the way I'm never going to come back here again. Bye!" thing is soooo shady.
    It doesn't make sense, people!

This post reads like bullshit to me..  why not refund the money right now, since you are so well off? Why would you be banned for trying to get on here and sort it out? And why would you say that you have no obligation to refund the money, when you admit it was someone very close to you? Does this not sound like the tone of the young punk and his message on facebook? Is there an Ebrahim Sr, or has it just been a scam all along? If there are 6 people admitted as being scammed, are there really more? Has someone been standing too close to a nuclear radiology machine?  Did we really go to the moon? Will a hero solve the mystery, get the girl, and ride off into the sunset? Time may tell:)

This to me is reason alone to Close their account or Ban both of the Saadawi's. I've never understood why they share an account & you never know who is actually posting - it's free to join after all, so why?
I know people steal other people's work & pass it off as their own, but when it happens between 2 people on the same forum it is certainly time for the Moderators to act.
As far as the scam goes, I don't think we'll ever get to the real truth of the matter, but I hope people have learnt a valuable leason - PayPal or nothing.
If a refund occurs, then all well & good.
However, it really is time that these 2 people uncouple & present themselves as 2 distinct individuals.

Just because you shoot on Sony does not mean you have to shoot in S-LOG. Do people shooting the C100 always shoot in C-log? No they shoot in Wide DR or other modes as well. It's for if your using a colorist in post. Just shoot in Cine 1 and get a good look out of camera with some flexibility in post.

100% this. Many people tend to equate documentary with running around and grabbing what you can as it happens, but in reality there are plenty of documentaries that consist of lit, staged interviews, staged shots or re-enactments, establishing shots, slow-mo and B-roll that you can get a few shots at.
A music video could be a few shots of the band performing, or it could be a high-production value narrative-style video that's fully lit and with a large amount of support gear.
    As always.... it depends

FS5, unless you're desperately stuck with Canon. Will say, the C(x)00 series is a pretty good doco machine, but the FS5 will give you plenty more options including slowmo and 10-bit HD.

Sounds like renting's probably your best option, and will likely serve you better anyway. You'll be able to customise the things you need a lot better and easier than having to cobble together parts on a limited budget (and can potentially shoot on a better camera/lens combo to boot!)

Overall, mirrorless is smaller and lighter, and as the rebuttal argues, most of the pictures in the original article uses the absolute biggest lenses available for the E mount, and compares them with average size, or smaller DSLR lenses.

That article sounds like it's written from the perspective of someone who's never owned a mirrorless camera.
A mirrorless setup is most definitely smaller and lighter. Indeed, there are some situations (and Petapixel seems to have cherry-picked all of them) where the size difference doesn't really add up. But I can tell you, my A7s + Sony 70-200 is significantly lighter and certainly smaller than a similar Canon setup. As is my A7s + 24-70 or 16-35.
I would suggest that in this particular case, the reason Sony mirrorless has taken off like it has, has actually very little to do with the fact that it is mirrorless. I would suggest that features like Full frame HD video downscaled from 4k with large dynamic range and Slog (and in-camera 4k!) is the main reason people bought it for video. Best looking full frame DSLR footage on the market (without hacking the camera). Huge MP counts, IBIS, and importantly, the ability to adapt lenses - particularly PL lenses (for video anyway). Yes, as the article says, adapters can be cumbersome or annoying, but that's the case with any camera system. If you buy a camera system partly because of the adaptability of the mount, you can't then complain about using adapters.
Anyone who thinks the primary reason the A7 series is a winner is the fact that it's mirrorless isn't paying attention. The fact that it is mirrorless may allow some of these features to be available, but I think most people are buying for specs and features.

It doesn't make any sense for an A7rII to be used in this sort of capacity. In addition, the C100 has been out for longer than both the FS7 and FS5. The FS7 is gaining more and more traction every day.
Keep in mind that the NFL were shooting film up until only a few years ago. If you like what you have, and it's reliable and works for you, what incentive is there to change? Plenty of prodcos and owner/operators who bought C100/300s when they came out that see no reason to switch. That doesn't mean something like an FS5 or FS7 isn't just as good a camera. In addition, it's an effort to change from one ecosystem to another, which means unless it's vital to you staying competitive, why would you go to all the trouble to change ecosystems?
C100/300 is a great little camera. So is the FS7 and FS5. Both have their places, and serve their purposes. I hired F55s and F5s for a project I was shooting recently. I didn't want to hire C300s or C500s. Different projects, different people, different needs. Use what works for you and your project. Nothing is gained from camera or brand-bashing. Except you preclude yourself from using a potentially superior product based purely on some zealous brand loyalty.
