Volker Schmidt reacted to Nikkor in Test Grading Fuji Eterna 8673 - Give me your opinion ;)
Film offers a lot of advantages. For example the motion looks a lot better than on digital cameras, just download the original clip and see how "shitty handheld" can look not disturbing but pleasing.

This is in fashion nowadays for camera reviewers.
Philip Bloom also wore lipstick as he presented the Sony A7s...

Volker Schmidt reacted to Mattias Burling in URSA Mini vs Raven (Updated with Raven 4.5K)
I wont say anything for sure before either using both or seeing alot of footage from both.
But if I was to guess based on current available gear, gear Ive used, specs like compression as well as hardware specs, etc.
The URSA will win in Image Quality, price and usability.

Ed I believe that you would like Jim and that your sense of his transgression would be lessened if you were around him ...
The shame of the written word and the internet is that it casts those one off statements into stone ... forever etched in the memory of
someone. And they more than likely will take offense ... now a word spoken in a moment of weakness can be easily forgiven if we know the
person and the circumstance ... those are wholly outside the perimeter of the internet forum.
My concern about the Reduser Forum is that everyone there engages in a shy form of Orwellian double speak ... as they know that being
BANNED is a real possibility. Everyone exists as the classic battered spouse ... waiting for the next crisis and shoe to drop.
My Red One had major mojo ... color and grading very organic ... the Epic replacement was too sterile and clinical for me.
But no one ... with a couple of exceptions either saw it or were willing to call out the Emperor's new clothes.
Self destruction can seem rewarding ... but ultimately how we remember ourselves may not be how history depicts our actions. It is
a tightrope act to pull off without a safety net ... I recommend you find one ... safe place with individuals of substance and integrity to
stand in the gap when needed.
We should all save our pennies ... perhaps a F35 replacement is just around the decade.

Volker Schmidt reacted to kaylee in I was finally giving up on buying 5D in Sep 2015 but then I saw this.... (hint, it's RAW...)
theres nothing "retro" inherent to the look of 5d3 raw video
quite the contrary: it is a unique look which is decidedly contemporary

for me color trumps everything, and the DEEP rich color from 5d3 raw is unparalleled; ive never seen video from ANY camera that matches it in that regard – naturalistic yet amazingly beautiful
thats awesome hmcindle that clip looks official. how did you find the reliability of ml on set? any issues to be aware of? assuming its not april fools day that is lol

Volker Schmidt reacted to Mattias Burling in Canon XC10 C-Log Samples for Download
I think I've already asked you about this before with no answer, but what the heck.
Please link to the 4K 4:2:2 +200mbps shooting camcorder with good stabilization, good audio, non dslr form factor, built in NDs, etc that's even better but still cheaper, so I can buy it.

It also simply looks like - good color science of the manufacturer. (low, low english:)

Volker Schmidt reacted to kaylee in Is Red about to release an affordable camera?
RED's 'ugly' graphic design aesthetic has gotten really old. i just hope the 7th grader who's designing this stuff is well paid

Volker Schmidt reacted to Jimmy in Is Red about to release an affordable camera?
God, I hate their design style... Not enough to put me off, but that whole military thing is so crude and dated.

Here some beautiful footage from the upcoming Ursa mini 4k:
"Most of the footage was shot in Prores HQ (which looks amazing - even more so than the BMCC), Full HD, 60fps. We used all sorts of lenses: Canon 24-70 2.8L, 50mm 1.2L, 100mm 2.8L IS, 17-55 2.8 IS and the Sigma 18-35 1.8. Please note that while the firmware we had on the Ursa Mini was as close to the final firmware as possible, but was still in beta nonetheless."

It´s been long ago, that an image/- colors has impressed me so much.
The important thing is always the image, not the specs.
Great camera!

The footage of the Ursa 4k is still impressive!
The Ursa Mini 4,6K is in my Opinion the most interesting upcoming camera.

Volker Schmidt got a reaction from bamigoreng in I like my Panasonic but I regret selling my Canon..
The 5dII with ML RAW and VAF-5D2 Anti-Aliassing-Filter is a very cinematic and very cheap option with Full-frame look.
It´s solid like an old cine-camera.

Volker Schmidt reacted to Sekhar in Slowest shutter speed in video mode
It's shooting at 5 fps and interpreting as 25 fps to deliver at 25 fps as a convenience. If it delivered at 5 fps you'd have had to interpret it as 25 ftps manually in the editor, but the result would be the same. The point is that it's capturing at 5 fps, not 25 fps: it's impossible to capture any faster than 5 fps because by the time it's time to capture the next frame it'd still be capturing the first one.
