@anonim very true ! I prefer how my Canon renders darker skin tones. Funny enough the Fuji looks like it may be better than my Sony when it comes to rendering skins. The eterna profile seems like its worth its weight in gold

@anonim google & kindle has great books on color science. Im reading one on theory of color that states that color is subjective. You will be fooling yourself into thinking you can spot the difference between fire truck red and ferrari red because our brains process colors different while cameras process color roughly the same. What we are seeing when we look at Canon color is a masterful colors at various hues,luminance and saturation levels that look subjectively pleasing in certain combinations. Its a very interesting study to get into, you’ll start to see that cameras having “bad color” or “good color” is way too subjective to even care sometimes lol

@anonim bingo. Thats all color science is ! Its a preset color scheme that will either emphasize the real colors (sony,panasonic) or the manufacturer will pick a more pleasing color palette (canon,fuji). How the camera sees color sucks in comparison to how we remember color. Thats why people tend to like fuji and canon better cause they emphasize memory colors (skin,sky,grass) instead of technically correct color. love those painting you posted. Fine artists were the original color scientist

Wait what if he comes back on the first like Jesus bearing gifts from the NX Gods ?! I would literally faint. Seriously though we’ve heard NX1 raw rumors forever now. If there’s someone that can do what @kinoseed couldn’t then by all means step forward. There’s limitations to what every hack can do because of limitations in the design of the hardware. Common sense is telling me that a loud mouthed New Yorker & a skeptical hardware developer who makes products specific to the nx1 like @lucabutera didn’t chase him away. Heck when luca first announced his focal reducer for NX1 I asked for proof and he provided it to the entire forum. Whatever you asked. He kept every user updated with the progress of what he was developing for the nx1. I understand he’s a kid (or says he is like Eebrahim) but kids aint that irrational these days. Especially when they start talking about their “haters” they will more often than not try to prove their point. No one called him out his name, disrespected or berated him. It is said that request for proof is the reason he fled a forum he’s otherwise always active in and that’s alarming in itself. for all those that actually know me on the forum know for a fact if a simple dng was provided that even alluded to the fact this was possible I would’ve hunted an NX1 down on ebay the same day and it would’ve gotten my full support with a slew of tests. @Andrew Reid support alone would’ve done wonders and he definitely did ask for it. I’ve always vouched for the system even when it was obviously abandoned by Samsung. I seen someone post that Andrew may have scared him away and I find that hard to believe. Belief is the abscence of evidence hence we ask for facts. Im sure waiting to the first wouldn’t have made a difference. Lock the thread.

@mercer have you tried using it with filmconvert ? Filmconvert’s b&w conversion with Canon Raw looks crazy

@Kisaha I understand you may not care about raw but a lot of people do. I know Im one of them. Canon RAW is beautiful btw. What we were after here is confirmation. Nothing more nothing less. Healthy skepticism never stopped Magic Lantern and its many contributing programmers. The angry mob with pitchforks could’ve been ignored but why ignore Mr.Reid’s inquiry or call for proof ? A simple DM to Andrew would’ve solved that but instead there was a huge deflection when Arikhan did actually reply. So no I don’t think anyone had anything to gain by saying something is wrong. You notice how that observation lead to a lot of facts being uncovered ? Same thing happened with Eebrahim. Nobody asked for anything outside the truth. Maybe as a New Yorker I am naturally very skeptical ? but the cure for skepticism is truth & information. It’s not like we asked the guy to release the hack when it wasn’t ready. We just wanted to see that one DNG he worked off of.

PM me lets seal the deal ???. Face it this is the behavior of someone who got busted. There never was a RAW hack. Everyone with some sense and experience with an NX1 caught it when he uploaded that bogus image sourced from “an nx1 dng”. Even kinoseed thought the premise of the RAW hack was questionable. This guy also gets in direct contact with the owner of the forum (Andrew Reid) whos showing interest in the new development and he wont even PM him the details ? Some haters and cyber bullies scared him away ? Yeah right lol So for the record I have been praying for an NX1 raw hack. A breakthrough like this regardless of the camera is worthy of praise but like many I do not like my time wasted with fabrications. Call me cynical if you want but lets at least be logical about all the facts presented to us

Like @lucabutera said, we were warning people who would buy an nx1 based off the false pretense that raw is coming. Lol April fools though !

You can scroll up and read how everyone was making the “he’s a kid” argument and @Andrew Reid kindly stated that his claim essentially still needs to be verified and @Arikhan should provide more information so he could support it in AN OFFICIAL BLOG POST. People who were initially against that started to like the posts. If observing that makes my statement lame @Kisaha I take the utmost pride in being lame. for the record kindly divert your attention to the passionate post I made on petitioning for an NX1 hack that ultimately lead to all of us getting a hack developed. How lame am I ? I will always support the filmmaking community and I an adamant in making sure the information posted here is actual fact,verifiable and accessible to others. also the fact that you don’t see the shared responsibility in my equipment purchasing example is alarming to me. Many people buy cameras based off of the information posted in youtube reviews and trusted forums like this. To say its their fault if they bought the camera based off of the information we actively share in a thread like this when we could take simple measures to make sure the info we are posting is accurate is socially irresponsible and affects the quality of posts and reputation of a forum. Look at dpreviews unregulated hell hole of a forum.

Ironic that some of the posters have now changed their position on how we should approach this after @Andrew Reid states how he feels about the situation ? anyway I wouldn’t mind buying an NX1 again if this is true as I have no allegiance to a specific camera manufacturer. I have always supported the NX1 and I support those still behind the system. What I am very cautious of however are gigantic claims made on forums. understand that certain claims can trigger another young filmmaker to buy equipment based off of a lie or a misrepresentation of the facts buy another user. It has happened to me and other young filmmakers so its vital we vet the information being posted online if we truly care about the community. We had a young, famous, knowledgeable scam artist on this forum named Eebrahim Sadaawi (?) that we all still see on other forums misleading people. THIS is why some of us are reacting this way. Not because we want to bully some kid with vast programming language who is able to do what many other haven’t been able to do before. Whether for or against we have a habit of jumping to conclusions without receiving all the facts. What we are asking for is the facts. Now are we not supposed to ask because of the posters age ? I think thats what going on here. Arikhan is too young to be questioned which defies rational thought imo. Hopefully for the sake of those apparently emotionally invested in this hack it materializes itself on April 1st. @lucabutera that vertical photo is what gave it away for me ? BUT lets wait til to the 1st. It clearly is a downscaled still image shot in portrait mode with a religious amount of sharpening. We dont want to put too much pressure on this kid though so lets wait til the first and see. Hopefully this is the real thing

@jpfilmz really good stuff as usual man ! Which build of magic lantern are you using for 12 bit ? Have you seen any corrupted frames shooting in 12 bit ? How would you compare it to 14bit raw ?

I did all my testing of the original nx1 hack in the middle of a military deployment. He can definitely push through soccer practice and provide files lollll

I was merely thinking that when someone makes a grand claim such as having made a breakthrough like RAW video support the burden of proof falls in the hands of the poster. Providing some kind of proof beyond a jpg wouldn’t be considered an act of aggression. Obviously I was wrong. I apologize if I offended anyone and I will take the users age and any of the other posters age in mind when faced with other claims as grand as this one.
