  1. I can't seem to find it. Could you show me online where that is?
  2. I'm shooting a montage within black magic camera and forgot my C fast reader. It would be it would be awesome if you had a C fast reader and we're nearby . I'd come pick it up.
  3. It's possible those just aren't selling, those are the PL V1. The V2 EF are still $5K. Plus the Turrets are still for sale. They once dropped the BMPCC down to $500, then later raised back to $1K. BM price changes are not good indicators.
  4. So, I read the thread and your interpretation of it is misleading. Captain Hook Nowhere was it heavily implied that reading Ursa footage on Windows 7 could possibly lead to clips becoming corrupted, due to the way Firmware 4's file system works.
  5. The video is desperately trying too hard. I can't tell if that's what you were going for or not. If so you nailed it. Nice lighting. I too really like soft light. Great job. I really like the character of the lens. Do you ever use color? I've noticed you really like a desaturated palette. Nothing wrong with that. The parody angle could've used color.
  6. Bumping this thread. Come on now guys. Filmmakers need music. You are filmmakers. We all win by participating.
  7. We can still innovate! In other news, I guess, cheaper more powerful MBP's are coming in 2017? http://www.macrumors.com/2016/10/31/macbooks-2017-price-cuts-32gb-ram/
  8. Have you heard of Bizon? A lesser, older MBP with one of those may fit the bill.
  9. No prob. And now back to the Hackintosh thread. Sorry Ed.
  10. So far I've only found 1 place that isn't Kosher with Verizon data, and unfortunately it's where we spend most of our time. Our campground is in the middle of a deader than dead zone. Walk up a small hill and you've got 2-4 bars. Other than that, we've been in the middle of nowhere Texas, New Mexico, Ramona, Julian... all strong connection. With that said, I may be looking into satellite or something else because where we're at most of the time it's just super inconvenient. But if we were on the move a lot, the Verizon deal would be a no brainer.
  11. Ok. Good to know. So let's begin to fix this problem. What are your new go to sites for music licensing?
  12. Go Big! - Normally I'm a less is more guy, but if you're full timing it, go bigger than you think you need. We went big, but if I had to do it over, I'd go even bigger. Space becomes a big deal. You're going to be in each other's space all the time. Good lesson in patience. But more space is good too. Instant Pot - no not weed. My wife discovered this pressure cooker called the Instant Pot. It's amazing. Reduces cooking time, heat, power, and pots and pans. And it's awesome. Cooks EVERYTHING. And does it perfectly. Seriously. Check it out. Peerless wireless - we have a Verizon unlimited data plan for $120/month. Again, UNLIMITED VERIZON 4G LTE friggin blazing fast data. You can't get this from Verizon. There are 3rd party vendors for these licenses. And... an extra freebie. Check your tires... diligently. They are, literally, your foundation. Less than 24 hours into our first trip directly from the dealer, one of our tires fell off in the middle of New Mexico in the middle of July. It was the dealers fault, and I didn't know better. But now I check my tires. CHECK YOUR TIRES!!!
  13. I have always loved The Music Bed, but that is over. Their tracks are absolutely top of the line, but they have become too expensive and the licenses are cumbersome. They have lost the vision that they started with, to help filmmakers with affordable music licensing. So, will you help to put some pressure on The Music Bed, or support other services that are doing it right. Please list other services you are aware of and a brief description. I will update this post with links and info as the recommendations come in. I'll start with this EOSHD resource by @Eric Matyas. - Music is free. I've listened to a some of these tracks and they're great. I hope Eric keeps up the good work. Talented and generous guy. PS. - I think it would be cool if this, or a thread like it were stickied. Music is critical component to nearly all films.
  14. Dude! We are full time RVers as well since July. We've got whole fam in this thing and are planning for at least a year, probably more. We did the 1000 trails membership thing. If you have questions about this alt lifestyle let me know. We've learned a lot. About the MBP, yah. This is one of the last components to my completely mobile lifestyle. Been an absolute pain without it.
  15. Ed, so for me, with Apple's products (which I love), last year's model always works just fine for me. I too had been waiting for the new MBP, but was disappointed in both price and ports. It would be cool if all TV's, hard drives, and peripherals eventually go to Type C, but that's not the case yet. So, I just went to Ebay, found a 15" MBP that was purchased in April. Had dual graphics with 2 GB v ram, 512 SSD drive, 16 GB's ram, 2.5 i7 processor, and Apple Care until 2019, $1750 ($1900 with tax). I also have 2 weeks to return if it's not in the tip top that it was described. It should arrive this week. Good deals can be found if the Hackintosh looks too cumbersome.
  16. My predictions: Electronic ND - obviously AF - improved AF is nearly a certainty too right? One of few areas where the Canon wins. Closing this gap is smart. Improved ISO, lower noise - already good but will probably be better I bet at least 1 or 2 from this list shows up: IBIS - I think this is the most likely to show up from this list, and makes sense on an FS camera. Higher FPS - more/higher FPS options or higher res high FPS options. Sony already wins this game, but might as well improve it a bit. Improved peripherals - better EFV and LCD The following is my wishlist. Doubtful if any of it shows up, but if even one of them we're there I'd be stoked. Improved Colors - in trying to stay ahead of Canon, the one thing that would almost certainly seal the deal is improved color. Sony already has the color science, why not add CineAlta colors and eliminate nearly any reason to ever buy a Canon over Sony. Internal RAW/UHD Prores - I think this would be a first for Sony, so unlikely. But seems like they eventually need to go here. Probably in higher end cam first. And on the Prores side, why does anyone use any other codec anyway? Shooters friggin love Prores. Greater than 4K - there are only 2 cameras in this game, Red and UM46 (3 if you count Kinefinity, which I don't). This camera is not competing with those cams, but still. I think Sony will do this soonish, but in one of there higher end cams. Global Shutter - the FS cams already have very minimal RS, but would still be cool. More DR - Sony's already great here. Sony is pretty innovative. Wouldn't surprise me if they had something else up their sleeve. What could it be? What if Sony came out with their own compressed RAW, kinda like Red. Low file sizes, loads of room in post.
  17. Did you sell the X5R too? Or just the Inspire? I am still waiting for your footage from the X5R. I want this camera/gimbal, but just don't want the silly workflow, but interested to see more footage. Also, I'm looking forward to seeing your footage from the FS5, been on my radar too, but I'm a sucker for image. Unclear if FS5 can get me there.
  18. Maybe this is an fs9 camera? Would love global shutter and cine alta colors.
  19. That 19-90 sounds great, but my understanding is that the lens would be pretty big. The new Zeiss comes pretty close to your wish. I'd like the extra wide mm's too, and I don't anything longer than 90, so your on point. With that said, the upcoming Angenieux 15-40 T2 is my absolute dream lens. The vast majority of big DP's typically stay under 40 for the most part. This gives me everything I'd need.
  20. This is in response to posts on this thread, but not really to the posters. Too much defensiveness and too much misinformation. I'm only responding for future onlookers to hear both sides. After this I'm out. As far as the F8(4) goes, it may be the best piece of audio kit since the microphone was invented. Or it could be like a Blackmagic camera, and be totally awesome, but have 1 or 2 flaws that are no big deal to some, a work around for others, and a deal breaker to a few (for the record, I love Blackmagic cameras). Based on only a couple, but yet seemingly legitimate reviews, I have a concern that this unit may exhibit a digital stepping noise while trimming during recording. This may be entirely unnoticeable while recording dialogue... but without my own tests I couldn't say. If I were in the market for a recorder I would be very tempted by the Zoom F8. I would probably get one, but this would be the first test. I would test recording various sources, including dialogue, and adjust the trim level while recording, both slightly and a lot, and judge the results. I hope it would be a non-issue. From what I can tell, the greatest majority of users wouldn't find it a problem, even if the F8 did exhibit the stepping noise. Most, apparently, never adjust the trim while recording, or don't do it while the subject is audible. For those users, this would be a non issue or an easy work around. No problemo. I do adjust the trim during recording. I used the term 'constantly' earlier. This was incorrect. I am 'constantly' monitoring the levels, and I adjust when necessary. Which is not all the time every time, but it is not unusual either. This does not create a post-production nightmare. On the contrary, it makes post nearly flawless and easy as the levels are super consistent. I understand that limiters do a lot of this work for you. But even still I find that subjects can and often change their energy, higher or lower, during a take, (or other factors like power levels, proximity, bleed, humidity, etc) and I make adjustments to ensure the best usable signal when working in post. I don't necessarily ride the trim pot, but I'm constantly watching, and I adjust to changes. Just like DP's adjust exposure when moving from interior to exterior (or the other way around), sometimes audio needs to be adjusted when the scene calls for it. I find this most common on long takes, events, or long interviews. Regardless, when levels begin, or are likely to change, I adjust. Hope that's useful to some.
  21. Audio techs adjust the trim constantly. While someone is talking is commonplace. Happens all the time.
  22. Thank you for looking into that. However, I can say with certainty that some of those comments are misinformed, particularly the ones about not adjusting on the fly. If that were the case then productions would never need mixers, only boom operators. Productions and live sound techs are constantly monitoring and adjusting audio. It may often just be minor, but it is happening regularly. So that part is incorrect, which makes me wonder about the rest. Also, I don't know about Zaxcom, but Sound Devices can be trimmed with no stepping. I have the Mixpre and have no stepping noise. I also have the Marantz 661 (I think) and hear no trimming noise. Whether or not it's audible on the F8(4), I can't say for certain as I don't have it. But with multiple reviewers saying the noise is there, I would assume it's there. Again, my experience is that the VAST amount of video guys are NOT audio folks. They set their levels between takes and then roll as is. It's not that this is wrong, but there are many instances, like interviews and events, where audio needs to be monitored and trimmed. I think most video guys don't do this and so it's not an issue for them at all. I do it a lot. Now, with all the other offerings of the F8(4) it's hard to ignore it. I guess when it comes time to purchase I'd have to try it out and see for myself. That probably won't happen soon for me as I've just purchased a cam with XLR's and will be taking the Mixpre right into the cam. Thanks again Dave. You are super knowledgeable and all over it.
  23. In the US I purchased Lee or Rosco filters from an online dealer. Your comparison of what you are building to what Aputure sells is not apples to apples. I think projects are good though. Good learning experience.
