  1. Nice test shots, a bit difficult to see a difference in overall image quality. Very close in terms of sharpness, but the kowa seems to be a hair sharper to my eyes. And of course flaring is a clear winner with the kowa.
  2. All very exciting news, but I'm more anxious to hear about the A7S II and GH5.
  3. Yup! http://www.newsshooter.com/2015/06/10/sony-unveils-a7rii-a-high-megapixel-stills-with-a-4k-internal-recording-option-and-5-axis-stabilised-sensor/ this is looks promising I thought it would of been the A7S II, guess not yet
  4. I honest came from an fs100, and i liked it very much. Ease of use, and has all the video/audio features you need to start shooting. Sure it has it's limits, specifically highlight roll off is pretty bad. I always did my best to avoid shooting something that had white or else it would clip bad. Overall image is really good, but there's cameras out there that are better for that type of price.
  5. I just found out I downloaded the wrong file, apparently there's a AH4_V22 and a GH4_V22, and I used the AH4_V22 which was on the panasonic website. Don't know why, but I some how found a different page that had an exe. Either way, I finally got it updating right now
  6. triple checked, I place the .bin file in the root where the DCIM, MISC, folder is. I formatted sd card in camera too. I also dont have an lens on it, and I dont have Panny lens either i use nikon if that matters. And Im using a fully charged 100% battery too
  7. I know how to update the firmware done it before the previous versions. But for some reason when i press the play button it won't display the update firmware mode. Did this just like 3 times right now, and nothing. Am I doing something wrong? I know it's a simple thing to do. Lol
  8. Incredible, but even better if it had anamorphic support. Then I would have my money set aside for it.
  9. Just seen the listed price of $995 for the Micro cinema camera, not bad.
  10. Anyone have an easier/faster way in calibrating the fm lens? The instructions were a tad confusing, but I just got mine. So far, I set both the anamorphic and taking lens to infinity, and the fm lens rack focuses perfectly as it should. So I'm wondering if you guys are doing the same or different?
  11. I saw this on eBay and was going to add it to my watch list. But the condition of the lens is very iffy
  12. Nice, looks real good there. I tried 4k photomode but 25p for some reason gives me some weird banding issue. So I've just been using the c4k mode in 16:9 for all my anamorph stuff
  13. Sure is exciting to hear what new iterations they have. I'm betting the 2nd editions could already be implemented on the current ones via a firmware upgrade. But I could be wrong, and could be a hardware thing. I'm guessing 4K internal recordings, compressed raw or at a high bit rate, HFR up to 60fps at least in either 4k or 1080p. 10-bit 422, and better codec? Who knows, can't wait though!
  14. I like both actually, I got use to shooting in S35 when I had my FS100. And my old 5D2 was fun to use, but I only used it for low light and for getting a wider fov. I noticed more shallow dof with S35 and smaller sensors. Now I've gotten use to m4/3 sensors, so I haven't had any reason to use FF sensor cams.
  15. Why not look into the Isco Ultra-stars, much smaller and light weight. Cost a bit more, but definitely worth it. I've seen many go for under $350. I have one myself, and it focuses from 3ft to infinity, but doesn't have strong flares due to it being an MC version.
  16. @richg101 I noticed the same as well. I've seen many FM lens videos and all have been very pleasing. And with the handlful of SLR 2x videos I've seen so far, It's seems to lack a bit of that anamorphic character. Maybe I haven't seen enough SLR 2x in the right hands yet.
  17. I saw the BTS of this as well. Awesome work check it out too.
  18. I was initially excited about the Shogun. But after reading that it only records UHD and not DCI 4K for the GH4. And no word yet on anamorphic support either. Maybe they are working on a firmware, but who knows. So far I'm leaning towards the Odyssey Q+, since it does DCI 4K. And there tech support emailed me back saying their next firmware will have anamorphic support. I really like the overall look of the Shogun though. So hopefully something good comes soon
  19. For some reason I'm not excited about what Canon will have to offer for 2015. I read a rumor of a C300 mk2 enabling 4K internal recording. Who knows, but I am a little curious though to see what they will bring to the table. The A7s, gh4, nx1, etc. are the talk of the town and will probably be that way for a good while.
  20. Dive into RED, even if it's a Red one mx. Do more film work and expand.
  21. Post some sample shots, what f-stop are you shooting at?
  22. This is awesome, more reason to purchase the Shogun. Only drawback is that there's no anamorphic options, that could be a deal breaker for me. Don't know yet though
