  1. I guess the other guy used internal sharpening, while these here are unsharpened. I can certainly live with that.
  2. Your tiff screenshots look way better and less processed than the video uploaded in the GH5 vs. BM46k thread. Am wondering now.
  3. Is this shot with -5/-5 sharpness and noise reduction? Your approach to correct colors is actually quite similar to mine on the GH4 using V-LOG. Cool
  4. Hmmm, no, the GH5 has a way better debayering. Varicam LT But in terms of color the Varicam is miles ahead.
  5. Maybe I'll even wait for their announcement on Cinegear. The GH5 seems like a nogo for film. But at least they seem to have the knowhow, lol. Honestly even Canon went down there with their C300 MKII. The footage shot with this camera just looks rubbish. The C300 MKI was way better tbh.
  6. It's fine when shooting RAW, but LOG shouldn't be overexposed. Panasonic could be exactly there, the GH5 does a wonderful job debayering and downscaling to 4k, it's almost perfect. But then they apply this ugly sharpening at the end... Why can't they just give us a choice?
  7. Both the GH4 and as it seems the GH5 as well have a serious yellow saturation problem (and red clipping), so be careful while ETTR.
  8. That's what I use as well. Damn, that really sucks, since my GH4 looks quite clean with it. The UM Pro has better debayering and downscaling than the UM 4.6k. Less artifacts, not by much though. UM PRO UM 4.6k GH5 (eww, reminds me of the hair actually)
  9. I know, at least 422. Made some pretty bad experiences with LT, lol. BTT: I really don't understand why the GH5 does even more processing than the GH4. Will sell my Panasonic lenses and GH4 soon I guess. I really need a natural looking digital image.
  10. Absolutely, just apply a curve and it looks great.
  11. They can even use ProRes LT, but it should be 422 at least to have a proper grain structure without macroblocking.
  12. I never saw hair looking so bad on my GH4 honestly. If that really was shot on sharpening at -5, the GH5 is clearly worse than the GH4 in terms of overprocessing. I will just go with the Terra 6k or Blackmagic Ursa Mini Pro for our feature film project, which have an amazing IQ and look really beautiful (both are similar to the RED Weapon Helium 8k but way cheaper). Their ProRes looks amazing since it's unprocessed, no ugly sharpening nor other nonsense applied (at least for ARRI and BM)
  13. So the example posted here from the GH5 was with sharpening at -5 or 0? It looks terrible to me, especially on her hair and skin. The 4.6k Ursa is lightyears ahead. The Ursa Mini Pro is supposed to be way better than the original Ursa 4.6k even!
  14. Every BM camera I've tried did so far. No issues.
  15. Agreed, the BM is shockingly better, two different worlds.
  16. Thanks for these. The UM46k looks so much cleaner and more natural, damn... Sure the GH5 was on sharpening at -5? The hair looks terrible and artificial to me. Or maybe the ProRes-conversion added sharpening? Still thinking about buying the GH5 but these examples make me worried (doing film and music videos)
  17. Yh, it looked way worse and more processed than my GH4 does at -5.
  18. -5 on sharpening is always the way to go, unless you like the smartphone look.
  19. Was the GH5 video with sharpness at 0? Looks very harsh to me. Edit: Actually both samples look oversharpened. Edit2: GH5 still has the red clipping problem, looks very REC709ish even though it's LOG.
  20. It defintely is. As far as I know Panasonic lowered the sharpening and nr in the GH5, so shooting with a non native lens with sharpening at -5 should be close to almost no sharpening at all. Have to try it out when I switch (if I switch, otherwise: BM Ursa Mini Pro, which doesn't show any nasty processing, which makes the picture thin and digital)
  21. It has been before, have mine since v.9.0
  22. At least the colors look nice. But yeah clipping and sharpening really sucks... As well as heavy noise reduction it seems, low contrast areas look like out of focus.
  23. On the GH4 it was just ugly pushing shadow areas to midtones with lots of noise and strange noise reduction...
  24. V-Log with an additional no processing mode (no sharpening, no noisereduction etc.). Just a clean output.
  25. Yh, agree. These kind of posts keep your eyes rolling...
