I found an Helios 44M-4 58mm f2 for M42 for 50€: is it good? :)
Ciao, there are even cheaper ones if you search on ebay, but my advice is to have a look on the Mercatino dell'usato website and search for lenses or cameras, you can find some really good bargains there.
You might be lucky and get a good deal, I once found a Pentax Spotmatic with an Asahi super takumar 50mm F1.4 in good condition for 45 euros.
This lens is worth 200 euro.
Last time I was on the mercatino dell'usato website there were loads of helios. ;)
Buona fortuna!!!

@comurit. I'm just a hobbyist, Andy works at this professionally. Anyway, my two cents. Your latest video on Vimeo is really nice. If you're shooting RAW you have so much latitude in getting any degree of warmth or coolness. The benefit of an old lens on my a7 is that it shoots H.264, so I can't change the image much in post--at least, that's my belief--so you need to get your warmth from the lens, or before compression. However, I didn't purposely buy these lenses because they were warm. I just enjoy trying stuff out. I do plan on continuing to use the lenses, of course.
If I was shooting 5D RAW I'd get a set of Rokinon Primes. They are an incredible bang for the buck. I've never shot anamorphic, so you know more than I.
Thank you for taking the time to reply, I am an hobbyist too, thanks for your advice anyway, I'll see if Andy has some more tips.
I don't think I can pair the rokinon with the anamorphic, I think vintage ones are more suitable.
I also enjoy once in a while trying different stuff.
Take care!

@ Maxotics and @ Andy
I am looking for a 100mm lenses to pair with my anamorphic lenses, that have a distinct cinematic warm non digital look, single coated if it's possible.
I am on a 5D, what do you guys recommend ?
At the moment I am using a Super Takumar 135mm f3.5 which is fine but I'd like to change sometimes and a jupiter 9 which vignettes at close aperture.
Any advices will be appreciated as I am not an expert when it comes to choose lenses.
I envy you guys in a positive way of course, for being so prepared on this topic.
Please any tips on different lenses will be great!!!!
Thank you again! :)

Here's some quick sample footage of the RE Topcor 35mm (2.8) and RE Topcor 100mm (2.8) on a Sony a7. (Other footage a6k+kit).
You're right Andy, these are some nice lenses! Glad I took the plunge! Wikipedia says they were manufactured between 1963 and 1971.
Here's a 100mm still
And a 35mm
Both have some mild PS work.
Very nice look, thank you for sharing this lens.
You are tempting me to get the 100mm f2.8, it's quite expensive though.
I have found on ebay a Topcon UV Topcor 135mm 1:4 Tokyo Kogaku Japan, is there a big difference between those 2 lenses? apart from the fact of 135mm and f4?
Thank you

Out of curiosity, has there been mention of availability, regardless of discount? I'd be willing to bite the bullet at full price to get some full frame and S35 tests up.

my two options for entering the anamorphic world are this, or just waiting for the 2x slr magic. I would probably buy a Kowa to pair the FM with, could you ask if they could demo it on FF (or S35 at the very least) with a Kowa and 85 or 105mm taking lens? Preferably a demo with people, like the last one posted. It would really go a long way to sway my opinion.

damn
The focus module will allow you to do single focus, you don't have to spend a fortune on an iscorama:
all the infos here:
and if you are interest I am gathering people to have a discount:

:)
i dont know if i am interested because i dont what that is :)
anyways i figured out seeing previous auctions, is an 8mm lens made for the beaullieu film cameras that has a 1.5 iscorama attachment. According to wikipedia is the same mechanic and design as the famous isco 36.
What i still dont know is what's the control box attached to the lens.

So... what happens with small 16mm lenses such as kowas or elmoscopes, is the same big adapter for all of them?
yes

I want to know the answer to this too! Don't remember if I asked Andy. This is on my "winter" project list. I'm not sure if the mirror would get in the way of the lens. I wouldn't think so, but don't know.
Richg101 what lenses do you like best for humans?
Here's a shot I took on my full-frame a7 (I thought I had put it on my a6000, was in a rush).
thank you very much indeed!!

Heyya,
Glad to hear more about this!
By the way, the front filter diameter is 105mm. How do you guys plan to put NDs on it? Step down rings, matte box or maybe a Cokin X-Pro holder? I don't remember if the front will rotate actually.the cheapest way, step down ring for me

@maxotics
I love the look of the Fujian 35mm 1.7 c-mount, is there a similar lens that will give you the same look for a full frame (5D) ?
As I understand this lens ca be used only on miroless camera. Right?
Thanks!

I am going to send the list tomorrow to the anamorphic shop and negotiate if that is possible for the best discount price.
I will let you know how it goes, x fingers, ;)
I am going to ask them if they can provide a coupon code for the ones who are in the list.
If any of you have any suggestions please do not hesitate to let me know.
Feel free, you are welcome.
thank you.
Ok guys, I've just received the first response from anamorphic shop, their are quite busy finalizing their FM at the moment.
They said that as promised they will give us the discount, they just need to work out how big it will be.
They are going to contact me again this week and let me know more in detail.
I will update you all, and of course I will not forget the requests that some of you asked.
Cheers, in the meantime if anyone would like to join the discount list are more than welcome.
Thanks!!!!
