  1.  I do it for that 10%, and for personal fullfilment.

This is nice, that's what is important,  , I think you should love what you have captured.

I put my personal fulfillment ahead of anything, (cos I have no clients :D ) I have to be the first to recognize that my job is well done in any aspect.

You can say "I am the first client", and if I don't like it how can the others appreciate it? what if in that 90% of illiterate there is someone who notice my mistakes?

    Thanks Ebrahim

  2. Reveal the unseen part of the video recording process.

The essential and the mistakes of capturing moving images.

Composition and camera angles, tell us how do you physically operate behind the camera throughout a given scene or shot.

Important camera operator skills, knowledge of and the ability to select appropriate camera lenses, and other equipment to portray scenes.

Share as much as you know , don't be afraid to reveal your doubts, play nice to everyone, don't fight over stupid thing, for professional and not, share your experiences and videos, help anyone in need of advices.

    Enjoy!!!!!

  3. My Eiki MIGHT (might) work if I get some rails, as I can fit it between the metal tube that came with the FM Module, and use that tube to mount the Focus Module to the rails, then run my eiki, attached to my camera, through that tube. So its possible. The sankor hack, no part of my 16D is plastic, so I am hesitant to start hacking my favorite anamorphic lens to little teensy bits.

Oddly enough, I have a feeling that the Isco Ultra Star will be the best lens for the FM module as it 1.) (think) it fits,  2.) flares quite nicely  3.) Is sharper than a kowa  4.) Still looks wonderful. IMO the best looking anamorphic out there. Maybe im just crazy though. I've never even used one, so poopsticks.

Mine is exactly like this one in the photo:

Which one is yours? Could you kindly show me a photo?

  4. ok, just FYI, my sankor 16D and my eiki 16F do NOT fit. The eiki is too small and cannot be used as the FM needs to rest on the anamorphic lens, something the eiki cant support, and the sankor is just to fat.

This is pretty much made EXACTLY for schneiders cineluxes and isco blue stars.

I am sorry to hear that your Sankor 16D is too fat, now I have the same projector lens and I was looking at it,  comparing the diameter with the schneider cinelux , I have noticed that what gets in the way with the Sankor is the focus plastic ring, which is attached to the lens with some little screws, since you do not need to fiddle with the focus ring once the Sankor is inside the FM maybe  you  can set your Sankor to infinity  and unmount the plastic focus ring from the lens, it should get inside the FM.

I am going to try that when I get my FM.

Mine is only a thought, I am sure someone else more professional than me will advice you better, if you can do it or not.

  5. I like it!
But I prefer to work with Panasonic G6 over a 5D MkIII 95% of the times. It's a matter of taste, of course there is not a perfect camera that fit all works.
Last week I worked with a Canon 60D because the DOP that called me has that and did not want to use my camera. Other times I worked with a 5DMkII and MkIII, I had a T3i and a 70D...
I admit I like Canon's menu better then Panasonic, but I like Panasonic image better then Canon because it's sharper and 60p in 1080 is something I use often.
With Panasonic I have a better quality in handheld shots thanks to the smaller body, I can use lot of lenses (FD are superb)... I have the EVF and the focus peaking... it's something I cannot work without.

Magic Lantern is the only reason that is keeping me working with the 5d  at the moment, I enjoy fiddling with raw, although is tiring and takes a lot of space, but the results are still worth it.

The 5d it's quite a bulky camera, not easy to take it around with you all the time, I would love to have something light that fits in my pocket.

I was thinking to get the panasonic GX7 when I get some money.

    Ciao ;)

  6. Exactly Andy! It's just crazy! I'm so happy with my G6, but lot of bands asked me: "Hey, why you don't use a 7D or a 5D?", then I show them some clips I made with Canon and some clips I made with Panasonic... and they instantly know why G6 is better! Not to talk about GH4! ;)

maybe you should see this clip too, I think it's ok, don't you? I like it.

I think that in the right hands any camera can be a good weapon.

    Ciao! ;)

  7. I am personally trying to locate a suitable short anamorphic that can sit into the unit and allow the taking lens to also sit into the fm module barrel.  this will be a great way to shorten the total length.

This sound great Rich, everything has to fit in 89mm, my shortest combination reaches 120mm, what if you need to tweak the aperture on  the taking lens though? only curious!

  8. ok here we go again another thread on the FM Module.

MOD: lets keep this nice and friendly - no personal attacks on anyone will be tollerated this time.

This time I hope it's going to be more useful and constructive to everyone.

Andy you are welcome  to share your  professional experiences whenever you like there is no need to say that of course.

I hope people realize that everyone can learn from the other and we as human need each others help to grow up in life.

    Thanks!

  9. Please respect the topic:

    1) do not discuss about  FM price, FM shipment, FM discount list, FM warranty or any economical stuff related to FM.

    2) play nice to everyone, don't fight over stupid things,  help anyone in need of advice on taking lens or anamorphic related to FM.

3)Share your experiences and videos with the FM, advice on hardware stuff related to FM.

Everyone is welcome , professional and non professional.

I would love moderators to keep an eye on the discussions and feel free to delete what is not related to FM.

Be constructive and don't be afraid to share your doubt.

    Thanks everyone!!!!!!

    Enjoy!!!!!

  10.

In another topic about Canon's succes but failing to innovate, I wrote this post. I think it deserves it's own discussion. And it was pretty off-topic anyway.

    --------------------------------

Most people don't spend days and days on the internet and websites like EosHD to compare specs and numbers. They go crazy even thinking about it.

They go to the nearest camera shop, ask for advice and try something out. Of course the seller says 'here is the Canon 7D, a great camera which we sell all the time'. The customer holds it (feels great!), trusts the brand and the seller, and walks out with the camera. Maybe he looks online for the best possible deal and have it send to him, but he's buying a 7D nonetheless.

And that is why Canon is still market leader, and will be for a while. Why do big film studios sometimes use a 5D or a 7D, but never a Panasonic? Because they feel like a toy, have no reputation, different color science, etc.

Canon is still the brand to get for everone who is not a nerd like us and spends much of their time on comparing camera's and specs. And the same goes for computers, TV's, car's, etc. People just want to buy something which feels good in the hand, looks good, has a good reputation and is recommended by others / sellers.

And that is why people still buy overpriced iMacs, 5D's, Samsung TV's with digital sharpening and 200 hz modes, etc.

But I will say once more, THAT IS PERFECT FOR US. Stop spreading the word! I tell you this is important!

Some, like me, make money from shooting video's... Most of us, like me, coulnd't have started this business 10 years ago because of the crappy quality of affordable camera's and computers. Now, everyone with 2000 dollars / euro's to spare can buy a GH4 + lens, download Premiere from torrents, make a simple wordpress website and call himself 'film producer'. Everyday more and more 'competitors' join our market.

And we all know that in 5-10 years there will be self composing, 10 bit 8K camera's with 20 stops DR that will focus themselves for 800 euro's in Wallmart... You know what this means for us 'professionals'? It means that you will have 10x more competitors than you have now.

Throw some 'self editing software' in the mix and there you go, almost everyone becomes a video maker.

Of course I am exaggerating, but I really believe we should all shut up and keep our secrets. I have learned a lot from the online community and I have given lots of knowledge back in the past, but I am not doing it anymore.

I want my clients to look at my footage and say 'wow that looks better than the rest' and book me. And of course composition and editing have to do with it, but the camera plays a big part in it as well.

So if you want to still make money in the (near) future, stop spreading the word about Sony and Panasonic. Stop talking about Filmconvert and explaining everything to people. Stop making easy tutorials for everyone to see.

Do you want a future where everyone makes video's which are as good (looking) as yours?

We are making it too easy for beginners like this. We are literally raising competitors which will hunt us in the future.

I have stopped and I ask you to do the same.

Praise Canon 5D's! Praise pricey software. Never give any tips and tricks for free. That is how you get rich.

So funny man!!!! but that is the truth, you're are right, spot on!!!!, you won't believe how many times when I am in a shop I see people ask advices and questions about camera to the sellers who doesn't know f....all about it and send them directly to the most famous brand.

Lack of education and passion, and loads of ignorance in  photography and videography, they buy just to imitate what everybody else has achieved with that  specific camera  without knowing that maybe you can get a better result with another camera and different brand.

  11. I sent them an email this morning for purchase. havent gotten a reply :<

    Hope they arent TOO overwhelmed...

It's early in the morning  in europe, they might sleep, they will reply don't worry!
