  1. Camera and lens? Loving the look ;) although the trees seem to have some purpel fringing? Second is a very nice one
  2. I'm just wondering how the iscoramas,etc... differ from the double focus ones. Any lens diagrams?
  3. My ultra star has a 71mm big diameter, just look for some chinese lens collar that fits. What's your method, ken?
  4. I've just watched the first video that appears on your site. You shouldn't change the speed of the footage, if you shoot at 24fps, you need a 24fps project in your editing software. I think this is the reason for the very bad motion stuttering in your shots. You should also invest in some NDs to reduce choppiness. Realestate style has to match womens taste, at least it has worked for me like that. Therefore, smooth footage is a lot more important than ultra sharpness. Currently there is no real way, besides magic lantern raw (but you don't want to use that), to shoot interiors without blowing out the windows. You could film with some ultra flat profile and underexpose, but you will have to spend some time on the footage -> time is money. Professionals use lighting, and geling the windows -> money I would say, try out a d5300. It will be a lot less noisier and sharper (in a good way) than the d5100 you have, if you don't like it you just return it.
  5. Wasn't the controller already being maxed out with the current cards?
  6. How much do these sensors cost , and do how they perform? I searched for some big CCDs but I didn't come up with anything interesting. 6*X/7*X abvoisly would be great, much better than that panavision 65mm because these are more like FullFrame.
  7. Personally I can't live with the small sensors for stills, I even bought some medium and large format film cameras recently because DOF always works better on larger sensors. 25mm f0.95 will give you very shallow but bad DOF, with just some part of the eyes in focus, large format gives you better blur in the background and better sharpness "rolloff" at the same equivalent aperture.
  8. I think you should try the D3S before dumping the D4. My father has the D4, I have the D3 (non S) and D800, and I can tell you that last nikon generation crosses the line where colors+dynamic range become good. I barely use the D3 anymore because the image, MP beside, just doesn't become nearly as good as with the d800. I see a lot of people comparing these cameras, and also comparing it to canon 5d mkiii, but most of them never have really tried the latest nikons and are just looking at charts. In your case you have one so going back can be a real pain. This is also very dependant on your shooting style,In low light high-iso (3200+) shooting the difference between a D4 and D3s dimishes. Video, I'm not an expert on this but I would say you should check which kind of rigging you are going to use. keep in mind that the sensors on the cameras you mentioned are small, so the lenses will have less fov than on your D4 and even than on your DX cameras (you can use a speed booster).
  9. There is no commercial speedbooster for it, but there is no mirror so you can either wait for them to release a recessed ef mount speed booster or you can do it on your own if you have the tools.
  10. Footage looks great, if you don't need guerilla style and ultra lowlight this seems like the camera which will work out perfectly. Sensor size seems also ok, specially with speed boosters around for thouse special shots.
  11. Unfortunatly the 60fps is not working, it just changed the file to 60fps but the camera is doing 30fps.
  12. Extra Extra, 3 years old d5100 gets 1920x1080p 60fps mode thanks to nikonhacker. http://nikonhacker.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1814
  13. Personally I would recommend you the olympus om-d e-m1 http://www.eoshd.com/content/12010/olympus-om-d-e-m1-review I think it has the most important feature for filming without tripod/sliders/steadycam/rig, and that's 5axis image stabilisation. Every handheld footage ,especially without good technique, will look terribly shaky. I think this is even worse than bad autofocus. With the olympus your videos will look smooth.
  14. Are you talking about the 1.500$ nex5 disguised in a "pro body" which has worse video quality than a 500$ dslr?
  15. I don't have fast internet atm. You can do it yourself. Once tested on one camera it probably is as safe as upgrading to an official firmware update. I updated the mainpost, the d5200 patch doesn't break your camera but the changes to bitrates it is supposed to do have no effect at all, so it's nonfunctional for the d5200 at this point.
  16. The Battle of Algiers Arrebato Persona Apocalypse Now Taxi Driver those are the ones that come to my mind right now.
  17. Yes it's me, I was kinda worried but my childish instincts made me take the risk  , the d800 is my workhorse. So far everything is smoother, no more macroblocking. I will update the first post later.
  18. That's strange, the d5300 looks a lot better and sharper in the last video. When in the one before the g6 looked better.
  19. That explanation has been around since d90 times, it might be true. It doesn't matter if the chip is sony or not, the rest are.
  20. That looks more like what I was expecting the first time. Make shure to do the test with 50p as you said.
