  1. And a step up/down ring to screw the clamp on the taking lens.
  2. I think all the isco stars are 2x. But it's not exactly 2x, when focused closely it's more like 1,75 and the strech is always uneven. Take something circular and try shooting it at different distances and positioned differently inside the frame.
  3. Well, if it were expensive. But the truth is you can have stellar lenses for less than 100€. IS is another thing.
  4. I know a lot of people in the classical music business and they don't make money on royalties or recordings but giving concerts. I don't see why any other music style should be more special. A good interpretet makes more money than most qualified workers, I can't see how you could justify more than that.
  5. Ehm, I think he was wondering if getting the nikon mount speedbooster + sigma nikon version, etc... (first post) and that mount happens to be limited to nikon glass. It's something to keep in mind, I wouldn't have a problem because I only have nikon glass. The thing about mentioning contax, and I could have said olympus,pentax,etc... is that they tend to be a lot cheaper than nikon or canon equivalents, and the exceptions are the very good lenses.
  6. Do you plan on using autofocus? If not I wouldn't spend money on canon/nikon glass. The sigma is unique, but for the rest I would go for classic lenses (contax?) and just buy select canon nikon stuff. This is my personal opinion and I am an idiot, so don't take it too seriously. If you buy a nikon speedbooster you are stuck with nikon, nothing bad in nikon glass but its limiting.
  7. Nobody knows for shure, like you already know :P Anyway, Andrew was supposed to post about a new super duper thing for m43s cameras. General consensus is that it's some sort of 0.5x speedbooster. So if it's true, and if you are shitting your pants this might be a good alternative. You got 30 days ;) Btw,we demand an UPDATE!!!
  8. If you glue it don't let the glue get to the optics. (I have seen quite a few back elements on ebay with glue)
  9. But isn't that the same guy who shot the official footage?
  10. If you want to use VSCO plugins you should download adobe camera profile editor and adobe dng converter. Convert one raw image (*.cr2 photo from the camera) to dng, open that dng with the profile editor, now you also open one video raw DNG frame (the order is important). Once you have done this, go to the video raw dng, and under the list of camera profiles, select the ones you want to use (ektar, portra 160 vc,uc,400,etc...), once you got one selected, save the camera profile file *.dcp and give it the same name but replace the C with ML or whatever name you like. Now you use the specific Canon profiles, not the standart ones which are worse. Do these steps for every film type. Any questions -> PM Ah, if you don't want flickering you have to set, highlight and shadow recovery to zero, the same as white and black and I believe clarity too. Afterwards go to the curves and adjust the look there, go easy on the contrast ;) If you want to do that you should use After Effects, you can import the DNG secuence and edit it as much as you want. There should be some rountrip workflow, or some way to use proxies first and then replace them with the raw secuence to finish the job and save you some time, but I don't really know about that.
  11. That's a terrible thing with the d800, seems like sony sensors need it for some reason.
  12. You seem more worried with a 1600$ buy than with buying into the top of the housing bubble. Take an advise from a Spanish fella, that price bubble is going to burst right in your face. Don't buy a house, you are already into the "new paradigm"!!! Right now the interest rates might be close to 0, but once they climb it will be hell, specially if you loose your job because of the new economic crisis. Oh and I don't know if this exists in the UK, but in Spain a lot of people bought their houses giving as additional security their parents home so they lost both. But hey, maybe you are extremle wealthy and don't care ;) Remember: "We can always sell it with benefits, the prices will never go down" when you hear this every day from you parents,family,friends,etc... start running away. this is the equivalent to "when you hear the postman talking about investing, it's time to go out" I'm remembering it loosly. Listen to your manhood, your wife is just thinking about the furniture, the pink room for your baby,etc...

First you have to have a camera without bayer filter array. You could have 32 stops DR and the colors still were fake thanks to the bayer filter.
  14. As maxotics says, the problem is not the codec but the line skipping on the 70D. Anyway, Canon is a thing of the past unless they come up with something so superior videowise that it compensates all the benefits you get from a mirrorless camera.
  15. If you need a classical pianist you can PM me, I live with one.
  16. It would be nice, but it's a sony :p Anyway, if that number is true the camera probably @1080p @iso 800-1600 will be as clean and same color rendition as a 5D mkiii @ iso 100. So you might not be able to use all the DR effectively @iso 100, but once you go up the isos it will be day and night (or should be). Btw, what kind of picture profile editor does sony has?

Well, I thought the same until I bought medium format film cameras and besides being medium format, the colors on film just seem to be "better", there seems to be more detail in color. I don't know exactly how to put this. But then, the same happens when you compare a d800 to Phase One digital backs so it's not necesarily digital itself but "color science". I just hope they don't stop doing the beautiful c41 films. Oh and pushing portra 400 is a great experience. Long exposures also look great, a lot better, if you don't have light leaks :S
  18. A copter has a very high pitch vibrations so it comes in very handy.
  19. Oh no, I need money... Anything about the highlights? Do they have a smooth rolloff, or are they like on the GH4?

If film dies portra 400 dies :(
  21. I don't think it will invalid the forbes because you can always put 5x4 lenses inside them. If you don't want to make the groundglass bigger you can put a focalreducer inside it. The focal length reduction is not really reducing focal length in the way you are saying, the design is not the same as a zoom lens. It changes the light angle behind the lens with an already formed real image and therefore the focal distance becomes shorter -> you can measure this and the focal length obviously will be reduced to the same degree as the view angle gets bigger, but the whole system of the lens in front of the focal reducer still works the same. A tele zoom for example, doesn't use the whole system, as you zoom out,the light rays that create an image will start to use less of the front elements and create "a different lens". Oh, I almost forgot, I think I might have found another way to get the effect, without focal reducers nor medium format lenses. If I find some time I will check the theory on it ^^' It might be the "secret" of some zeiss lenses.
  22. Any bases on this assumption? Because I have observed that a focal reducer may introduce some aberrations but the looks stay the same. Actually the reason behind the looks doesn't change. If anybody has troubles believing this, he can take a FF DSLR and for example a 135 @2.8 and do the Brenzier method with a 2x2 stich (4images), there you have your medium format. The looks are not some mystirious properties, they just come from long loneses with big image circles, a focal reducer compresses the image, it doesn't mystiriously/substancially change the dof behaviour.
  23. If they can do a 0.5x speed booster for m43 they can also do a 0.5x or even more speedbooster for FF. Can't wait for it, but they are going to charge a lot for it.
  24. How close did you focus? Try something 3 meters away, depending on the anamorphic lens (I don't know about the kowa) you might not be able to focus on short ranges. Upload some image sample to flickr and post the highres link here, maybe you are expecting too much.
  25. I'm still waiting for some cooke videos, you promised it!!! You are supposed to be in Asia shooting them.
