  1. Even though i like the RAW from Canon cameras (especially because of the Dinamic Range and the colors), i'm very excited for this new camera. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2081787381/e1-camera-4k-uhd-interchangeable-lens-camera/comments It's a 4k M4/3 camera with a Panasonic sensor. The good news is that it will have 4:3 and even 1:1 aspect ratio in 24 fps and a possible desqueezed image via cellphone app. The bad news is the codec that it's the old h264 (no prores), maximum of 11 stops of dinamic range and only 1080 via hdmi. I think it will be a fun camera to use with a 3 axis gimbal and a small anamorphic adapter.... and for $700 bucks.
  2. Instead of the regular diopters, what you guys think of the Rangefinder (Slr Magic's adapter for single focus)? Could i get a "30mm anamorphic look" with that + a wide angle converter? (Isco Ultrastar)
  3. Thinking about the smaller version of the Rangefinder... You can call me crazy but... i was thinking that it could be useful for BMPCC users to use it with Nikon 1 lenses (especially the wide zoom 6,7-13mm). Would it be possible?
  4. I'm really looking forward to see some tests with this camera. If it is clean till 3.200 i'll be satisfied. But what i'm more curious about is the level of access we'll have to update the firmware (they claim it's an open platform camera). Other great thing is that this camera have a similar crop factor/sensor from the GH4 but doesn't have a mechanical shutter like the Pana, so maybe we can use the BMPCC speedbooster (1.58x) with it. It would be amazing to use a light camera like that with an almost S35 sensor on a cheap gimbal for run gun shooting. And last but not least, proper anamorphic shooting options for less than $1000 with a possible desqueeze preview via android/ios app.
  5. I wouldn't mind this crop factor if i could use my c-mount lenses. But Samsung's mount is just awfully thought. This camera is starting to make no sense.
  6. I'm kind of disappointed... So i'll have to shoot with modern lenses? I have a Pentax (PK) set of lenses and also some c-mount and m42 and i always preferred the look of the vintage glass instead the modern (and more expensive) ones.I'll wait for more tests, but for now it's less then i was expecting.
  7. As a really old Eoshd reader, i'm excited about the possibilities that we have with the Samsung cameras using the Tizen O.S. If Vitaly, Magic Lantern or somebody else decides to mess with this system giving us RAW, Prores, diferents aspect ratios, higher bit rates... Nx1/nx500 would be the gh2/gh3 of 2015.
  8. Different aspect ratios for anamorphic shooting and crop mode on the v1.3, please! But I'm sold! This is my next cam!
  9. Great review as usual, Andrew. I'm very curious about this camera, but not being able to use EF lenses would be a no deal for me. Besides that, i would like to know: - If it has a crop mode (i have a lot of c-mount lenses) - A "S-Log like" picture profile - For some kind of miracle has different aspect ratios? (Anamorphic adapters) - How reliable is the AF with native lenses Take your time, Andrew! Thanks.
  10. Too soon to ask if the it has a flat picture profile and 4:3 aspect ratio? It would be awesome for anamorphic lenses users.
  11. I really don't know if the front ring of this lens moves but i've heard that's too heavy! You should check the Nikon 35-70 F3.3-4.5 MACRO AIS (52). It's incredibly small, light and with a fixed front ring! I have one and i love it!
  12. Sorry Andrew, but i've to insist. I want you to give the EM-10 a try for some reasons: -The EM-10 shares the processor from the EM-1 -The same codec from the EM-1 (i know... isn't the best reference on codecs world) -Small form factor (400 grams) -PRICE! $699 body only (please think like you did on the very beginning of the EOSHD. I have no budget! It's all about indie filmmakers) -And last but not least... It's not only 3 axis! M-IS (as they call it) already counts with the help of a digital stabilization mode making very similar to 5 axis in video mode. Worth it? You tell me! I live in Brazil, we hardly see some Olympus camera here... (The market is floated with Canon trash)
  13. I'm more interested on content for the tiny GM1 (i don't know how to rig it properly yet), but i'm very tempted to buy the GH3 guide.
  14. A GH2 beater if someone hack it! Vitaly, Driftwood, Lpowell....anyone?! I would be the first to make a donation!
  15. For now I believe it does not worth to replace the GH2 by EM5. Without 24p mode and with the moire issue with ... I would not trade. But i really (REALLY!) want to see this hacked!
