  1. I know it might sound like a crazy idea but... The new EosM (5) is a mirrorless 80d and you can use a Speedbooster for your Full Frame look. Still don't know if the AF is as good but it could be a great B cam.
  2. Crappy hands on. Still waiting for more tests and the hdmi output info.
  3. It's a 20 mp Sony sensor, the Af is quite weak... But i'm planing to use that with manual glass. I hope they make things easy for a possible hack. If we can get higher bit rates, custom picture profiles, eliminate all these noise reduction and auto sharpness, this would be a hit! Can you imagine all of that with a Blackmagic Vídeo Assist (at least 8 bit 422) via hdmi? High level 4k!
  4. Or just go with a Blackmagic Pocket (+Speedbooster) if the portability is crucial to you.
  5. I wish it had a better controller chip like the MkIII so we could use it with faster cards (at Full pontential) for RAW. Can you imagine a mirrorless camera, with great AF, Canon colors (14 bit!) and 5 axis stabilization? But as is...it's just another crappy camera from Canon.
  6. I suggest that we use another topic to discuss the Speedbooster for the Nx1. I know that we don't have much news about the hack development lately but lets keep on topic here, please.
  7. Sorry for my dumb question... but are the prores files MUCH better for grading compared to the h265 on NX1?
  8. From @NXKS2 Removing crop-factor and custom resolutions on NX500. ... it appears that we can control the crop factor (remove it) and even have custom resolutions, by controlling the EP_Resize registers. As you can see for NX500 all non-crop simply have the same value for the scanning and output (ex VGA), where the crop modes have one scanning resolution and another for the output (ex DC). For removing the crop, we don't even need to recalculate values, just repeat the input to output value. However setting those is a bit trickier than expected.... 4K DC [20826000] 0140000E 10000000 0438000C 08700000 VGA [20826000] 05000000 05000000 03C00000 03C00000 Source: https://www.facebook.com/NXKS2/
  9. I woudn't expect nothing comparable to the a6300 in terms of low light performance from the nx1. It's just not made to work in low light. If i get acceptable 3200 iso, i'm already happy. But of course... without all the nasty macro blocking.
  10. Congrats for all the effort guys (Chant, Vasile, Otto...). I'm very excited to see all things you are implementing on this cameras. Now with the new Blackmagic View Assist 4K i was wondering if (even on our more remote dreams) would be possible to get a RAW image via HDMI. I have no knowledge in this area and i apologize if it's a stupid question. Take care and keep up the good work!
  11. Does anyone here have a Schneider Cinegon 16mm 1.4? I'm tempted to buy one but i'd like to read a owner's opinion about sharpness, vignette and usability.
  12. It would be awesome to have something like a Magic lantern on this camera. And they might like the idea...
  13. Also curious if we can dream about a new encoding option.. But i agree that disable the auto noise reduction from the system is more important now.
  14. Hey guys, check this out! If it only had a mic input... I think i'll wait for the gh5
  15. Many thanks, Otto. You're the man! My wishlist is: 2.5k 8bit (maybe 10?) 422 Mjpeg or Prores (one could dream) and 4:3 aspect ratio.
  16. That's awesome, Otto! Things are going fast! Hope we can have an option to choose different aspect ratios like we have on the Magic Lantern. I'd love to use my 2x anamorphic adapters on a NX1.
  17. +1 that would donate for a hack. I know that the priority is the increase of the bitrate and a bunch of other stuff. But i'd be very happy using my anamorphics with it shooting 4:3 aspect ratio.
  18. The only thing that bothers me on these Sony cameras are the colors... it just don't seem right to me yet. And since i'm no colorist, i struggle a lot to make them look how i want. I haven't test the FS5 yet but i hope it looks better then the A7 series (straight from the card). And... don't want to go off topic, but i really liked the colors i've seem from the JVC LS300. You also get a 10bit 1080, ND filters and can use even 16mm lenses on it. The built construction doesn't seem to justify the $3,495 price tag (specially if you compare it to Sony FS5), but at least on paper the specifications are really impressive to me. Don't know why Andrew didn't even think on test this one.
  19. It was clear on how to create my own lut with the program (thank you for that!), but it wasn't clear to explain on what kind of image i could use that. As example of my question, imagine if i have a timeline with a7s images (not s-log) and a gh4. What do a have to do before applying this LUT on images of both cameras? What's the best starting point to use this kind o luts? Thank you!
  20. Hello, @benymypony. Can you tell how useful are these LUTs created with Look Converter by Picture Instruments? I mean.. if i've created a LUT using a VSCO preset for Lightroom what would be the best workflow to apply it? First i should make all my footage look flat (like log or raw) than apply it? I just don't understand how this LUT could useful to any camera if different brands have different colors. Hope someone can explain it to me. Thanks!
  21. I'm also interested on a comparison between Andrew's Log converter versus V-log. And now that GH4 users already have a true Log profile, would be possible for us G7 users to have a log converter? I've read that our Russian friend Vitaly (GH2 Hack) might try to hack the Panasonic G7. Are we looking for the on budget king?!
  22. Thanks for sharing your vast knowledge with lenses @richg101! But i got very curious with the item 1 of your list: 1. Avoid units with bright blue or purple front element coatings - the majority of early silver units are of this nature. - the coatings flare up and peak the blue channel in a horrible way. I've never heard of this issue with flares peaking up the blue channel in a bad way. Does this occur with other lenses and combinations? I have an Isco BlueStar and also a Yashica Scope what do i have to look for to find a nice match for my anamorphic adapters (and what to avoid)? Flares in the same color? Thank you very much!
  23. I'm not sure about the aspect ratios with the Neway monitor, but they are very good for the price they are charging.
  24. Does the filter thread rotates? I'm planning to use it with some 8mm anamorphic adapters and S-log2... I think that way it's not going to look videoish anymore!
