  1. "I tested the temperatures of the R5 with a Seek Thermal camera, on the outside, as well as of the memory cards and card slot at the time of changing the CFexpress cards, in prior tests as well as during the recording of this video. In my opinion, no unusual high temperatures were measured. The Ninja V gets a lot hotter, and not only at its heatsink, the screen of the Ninja V feels much hotter than the R5 ever has on any of its surfaces, the past month. The R5 has felt the hottest, not while shooting video, but while shooting slightly more than 8000 photos in an hour on the electronic 20 fps setting with RAW+jpeg, yet not hotter than my D850 felt through the years after similar abuse. My GH5 is much hotter after an hour of recording, also at its memory card bay. My 2011 Macbook Pro and 2012 Alienware laptops have felt a lot hotter a lot of the time, and they are still doing fine. The 4K proxies of the 8K RAW edit just blisteringly fast on the 2011 Macbook Pro, better than the native a7R4 MP4's on my 8 core Intel with RTX2080Ti, I create the proxies on the latter though, quickly, and the rendering too of course." "All this 8K bashing is a bit silly, I find, years and years we worked with proxies, but a slower native MP4 native editing is very much in vogue right now, I am apparently slow to follow the latest fashion; nobody is perfect. I switched to 1080p when many said, who can watch this in 1080p, you're crazy, same with 3D, same with 4K, now with 8K. If you treat the 8K RAW as a photographer, you all of a sudden have a 30 FPS 35 megapixel stills camera with a buffer of 30.000 images that clears immediately, that is, if you need to spray and pray for 17 minutes in one go, some photographer." ~ Electroholic Anonymous source (ONLY 4 subscribers!? WTH is this?? LOL) 100% agreed. Glad I am not alone : ) Andrew, you have a hell of quality of members on the board, man... I even think people are not enough aware this is the most helpful filmmaking corner on Internet as far as tech issues concerns. My gratitude and most fair reason why I am here :- )
  2. I had no idea you existed until I read your posts here and this incredible entry on YT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IagTjRO5Y30 I invite everyone to follow the content you wrote/left there. Credits and kudos to Andrew's tests/findings as well : ) What do you plan next? :- )
  3. I've already lost my maths on their stuff... well, at least two of those models (G7 & GX85) count with five units from my side + 3x GH1 + 2x GF5 + 1x FZ1000... jewels of my collection :- )
  4. Marty, Panny once Panny forever : ) There's no other similar brand anywhere else. They are synonymous of motion picture shooting itself. Happy camper since 1986, E :- )
  5. You're not kidding, seems fine to me. Where/when can we get it? :- )
  6. LOL Hilarious. This is a real comedy. I had never seen anything like that before. We are in 2020, not 25-30 years ago... E :- )
  7. You're making history, guys! Don't complain ; ) without Cannot you wouldn't be there... : D (E :- )
  8. Signed and shared on dvxuser, reduser & cinematography.com forums.
  9. I share your view, unfortunately. Only this mod will be able to save the grace, that is, if they won't limit the thing again with some other crippling measure to prevent it in the meantime... You CANNOT trust them. Never. End of story : (
  10. I am sincerely in rush to buy one. I fully understand and support this fight against Cannot, but not mine. Really. My craft is my playground. Hope and still waiting for your finds @Andrew Reid, @mechanicalEYE as well from any other R5 user over here. Eagering to know the overheating limits for sure, temperature behaviour on different scenarios. 50 minutes?! ... with such conclusion next to follow: "The camera never got hot to the touch, cooler than my MacBook Pro the whole time." ~ Andrew Reid This is really an impressive piece of hardware I confess I am unable to resist...
  11. $500 upgrade premium is too short for their greed... Sad but true.
  12. The difference is in the filmmakers community Andrew serves : ) EOSHD is not in the same category of ANY YT channel out there :- )
  13. Absolutely! Andrew has just entered in the camera history IMHO... Selling more camera units to them : X Sorry mate ; ) but this time you got the full front page ; )) You won't screw up this time TONEH... No original Velveeta in the hands of your 2nd half will save you this time, count on it! LOL :- D
  14. Their point is the number of people who will simply NOT buy anything else for higher. This camera can be as revolutionary as the perfect hybrid would be if/once these crippling limits will be lifted. Now remains to see how overheating can be a real issue. There are borders, of course. But enough to limit it as they did through firmware?!! C'mon... no fools over here ;- )
  15. Truth. Technology, knowledge. Resources. Who pays don't give a damn for their reasons. We have ours our money pays. We pay for an equipment, not for their reasoning if any.
  16. I sincerely think this fits to be denounced but better to do it with the voice of the reason and its strength... ; ) Such opportunism sucks ;- )
  17. No worries, I promise to keep it secret. No one will know it from my side. I can't say the same for the others here, I'm sorry (Cannot doesn't, but we will on their behalf, deal? ;- ) https://hackaday.com/2020/04/24/a-cr2032-battery-eliminator/
  18. C'mon, no need to you apology : ) This is a big company, I doubt they would ever do it. They simply don't give a damn. You don't want it, don't buy it. As simple as that in their mind. And they will even address a smile to you in the end. That's the way it works.
  19. This is not a defective product, just a crippled one, let's call it the right terminology.
