  1. I would go with this one: Manfrotto 535 MPRO. http://cvp.com/index.php?t=product/manfrotto_535 Only heard good things about it. 20kg load capacity, lightweight construction, good price. Also take a look at this ball head: http://www.wexphotographic.com/buy-manfrotto-mh057m0-q5-magnesium-ball-head/p1527869 All you need now is a Manfrotto half-ball mount and you are good to go, still under 800. And probably much more future proof than the 504, this ball head takes gear up to 15kg.

    FS5 2.0 released.

I wish there would be a compact 4K raw recorder, something like a new HyperDeck Shuttle, no screen just a slot for a card, few buttons and a mounting hole. Make it cfast and it could be even smaller, barely noticeable. The Q7 really kills the FS5's form factor. Probably the recorder weights more than the camera itself.
  3. Hello Ed, Congrats for getting the F65, can we expect a write up on it one day? It's not like I will have the cash to get one in the next 25 years, but I always enjoy reading about cameras I don't really know yet. Have fun shooting!
  4. Maybe I don't remember it correctly, but the 4.6K's price was sitting around £3500 inc. VAT for quite a while, maybe for months, then it went up to 4 grand and now it's back at almost the same old price. Slrhut sells it for £3400, located in America they work the same way as Digitalrev probably, although I never used them.
  5. Hey Andrew, The RX100 IV has an uncompressed micro-HDMI out up to 4K/30fps. Do you know if that's limited to 5 minutes as well? Can you try it if you have the Shogun at hand? Also could you check if it does FHD/120fps via the HDMI too? Thank you.
  6. Hello Gents, I have a Schneider Super Cinelux Anamorphic 2x MC for sale here. Small scuffs on the metal housing, but the glass is pristine and mechanically the lens is also perfect. Can be easily converted to any of the popular single focusing options. Price is £120 + PayPal fees. Free shipping in the UK, EU shipping for a little extra.
  7. Hey Zak, so the Rectilux can focus closer than the Rangefinder, isn't it?
  8. Yes, the chroma noise removal is awesome, clears up my BMPCC footage with a few clicks while I still retain all the luminance grain for an organic look. The Pro version sounds like a good long term investment, I wouldn't go with the cheaper one.
  9. Yes, advertising online is definitely useful, and we would look into that too. After getting a few decent projects under our belts that should be the next stage.
  10. Good question, one of the many reasons why I want to get another person involved is to do a brainstorming about marketing as well. Probably after taking a quick look at our social networks we could come up with the first group of "clients" straight away. I do have an idea already who would I approach, and hopefully my editor would have his own list. Also the location is a big advantage. London is full of artists and unrecognised talent, people from many countries come here to get a shot, including me actually. When I scroll through Mandy, Gumtree or even Facebook groups, sometimes I see interesting projects I could imagine being part of. Those are dangerous places actually, like a swamp, haha! But you might still find some genuinely good things there. I think these are the first steps, and a growing portfolio will accelerate this process greatly.
  11. Hohho, the weather is nice there, and Italy is beautiful. I went to Chioggia and Padova once, doing hitchhiking! Great places. Well of course I will stay in London, but you know, nothing is impossible. I was thinking about working with someone remotely as well. Like setting up an FTP server, get a 100/100 broadband and share the project files like that, and do Skype meet ups. Who knows. It wouldn't be the ideal solution at the moment, but I might get into this once. Thanks for the heads up
  12. Don't worry, I don't want to take over the local drug market.. I have been on this forum for some time, but probably I haven't introduced myself. I am an amateur videographer and notorious camera geek, with a background in photography, who's now looking to find a similar minded amateur creative in London, with a main interest in video editing and post production. Basically we could freelance together, learn and progress to develop our style, which might lead to a long term collaboration and hopefully having our own production company at some point. The thread title refers to one of those self claimed mega-dynamite media entrepreneurs who "never looks back" - you know someone who has a really sophisticated way to make you believe they give you an awesome opportunity to "break into the industry" - but in fact it's just a con trick to bag the profit on someone else's talent and hard labour. They might even have a contract from a big shot company, and throwing around with the brand makes you feel it's legit to steal your time in return for some peanuts and big promises. These are the people I want to avoid. These cheap wannabe producers, production managers or agents, whatever they call themselves. So what we are looking for is to find our clients, work with them directly, ramp up the work ourselves. Even if we have to work for nothing we can do that on our own terms, under our own creative control, simply because we see something great in the project and like the people involved in it. Surely the big goal is to became absolute professionals financially as well, but right now what really attracts me is to experiment and get involved in creative adventures. The rest will come in good time probably. So mainly I am a camera guy, interested in cinematography and let's say directing, and ideally you fancy editing and looking to put your hands on the post production side. Of course these parts are pretty flexible, if you have an interest in any sorts of field work it can only add to the mix. Surely some amateur experience in these things is handy, but obviously you don't have to be a fully fledged VFX super guru. I don't have the talents of Wes Anderson either, far from it.. What I have is a fairly decent filming equipment, and I keep investing my hard earned cash in lovely gear all the time. Hopefully you have something to work on too that handles ProRes or Cineform. If not, no probs, you will work with proxies and we could do the final renders on my system until you get something better, hell knows, we will figure it out. I would like to venture into music videos, documentaries or even do corporate profiles and advertising for small companies and start ups. Anything that could give us a chance to create something less conventional but more engaging and creative, but still keep a marketable profile. Again, this is all flexible as well, if we happen to come up with a good concept for a short movie then so be it. So after all this bullshit you still think this could be your thing, just hit me with an email, send me some of your works if you have and/or even other people's stuff too, just to give me an idea about your taste and what things do you like, what standard you are aiming to. I will do the same thing, and we'll see if we could work together. Thanks everyone for reading this. Hopefully this enterprise will be a bit more successful than my OkC profile.. errmm.. You can send me a PM here, or simply use my email address. Thanks again, Artur
  13. Dave Dugdale is doing a review on it soon. It's interesting to see how quickly they got that 32bit design. I'm wondering if it makes any real difference. If they actually had enough time fine tuning it to make a difference. Price-wise, it should stay under 1 grand to be competitive.
  14. Yes, I have one of those pocket torches from Ebay. It was something like £15. It says 1000 lumen, well most people doupt it gives you even half of that, but what I can say it's mega bright anyway. Works from 3xAAA or 18650. That's the one: http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/300952024248 Even cheaper now, and they say it's 2200 lumen, hehe.
  15. Hahahh, I don't see the connection between the good old 5D and the rapings. What you are trying to say here is we are too busy worshiping our gear instead of dealing with important issues in our society. Come on, you just take things too far again. You are going to be like that guy from the Network.

    How's Andrew Reid?

I think he's just went to to walk the Earth. You know, like Caine in Kung Fu. Walk from place to place, meet people, get into adventures.
  17. "Nikon Hacker discovers the possibility of RAW Video" might be more accurate at this point.
  18. I thought the GH4 already outputs 10bit via HDMI. I remember Andrew saying he didn't find any major difference between the internally and externally recorded footage, now it makes sense why.
  19. I wasn't talking about the 6k or high speed options mate. But I could easily live without the 3 things mentioned above. Again, I would spend the extra money on something else. The features you mention are mostly software related I reckon, so switching them on and off wouldn't really affect camera ergonomics. I could only imagine the URSA deal if the iPad is detachable. Just like that side grip on the KineMAX. I wouldn't use that either.
  20. The funny thing is, you can completely turn this around. You could say this is a 10 grand camera originally, but if you don't need certain features such as WiFi, Dual SDI or that battery grip you can knock the price down let's say by 1.5 grand. A different example: I like the URSA, but the iPad on the front annoys me. I would gladly save £500 and get rid of it, buying an extra CFast card instead.
  21. It's 2015 and Canon was able to produce a badass 2K camera. Nah, I don't mind really. I wouldn't need 4K@60 FPS that much, but then they might have to bring that 16K price a bit lower, closer to the 10K range. I also have a feeling they will release a firmware unlocking high frame rates in 4K during the summer. Or that will be the C500 mkII? Hehe.
  22. Hey Andrew, Just a quick one, did you actually try the FM then? I remember you've been waiting for a Schneider Cinelux to pair it up with, but that didn't happen or something and you couldn't do a review.
  23. Yep, I see where you come from, and it makes sense. I have two BMPCC's actually, because of the infamously wonky HDMI port which can't be replaced. The Cion is a disappointment but the URSA might be able to pack a punch later on with a better sensor, but the weight crosses it off my list anyway. I'm a patient guy. Let's see that Panasonic AF101 replacement and the rest, but whatever Blackmagic has up in their sleeve, I wouldn't buy it within 6 months for sure. The Pocket is a great camera. A year after the release..
  24. Hey Ed, thanks for the help! Right now I just keep my eyes open, maybe a good offer will show up here in the UK. I remember seeing an F35 for about £3k half a year ago. I guess that's not too bad. Also the NAB is so close now.. Will see. But I just love how this camera feels like, picture-wise and ergonomics too. Anything that has a similar built costs 50k+ and this thing reminds me of an old 35mm camera in every way, for much less. Although if it breaks, you won't be able to find an easy or cheap way to repair it. I'm wondering if there's anyone who could do that nowadays.
