The image above apparently shows the new 4K movie mode of the Olympus E-M1. And for the first time I can reveal the source for this worked as a second unit assistant director on Iron Man 2. Please note, this news until it is official from Olympus, we have to classify as a rumour but I really do believe this firmware exists. Read the full article here

Thanks for the feedback David. Keep it coming everyone...

Looking for feedback from users on this... The blog has been very successful in seeding the forum we have today, which is nice and busy. However many people have requested comments to be enabled on the bottom of main blog posts. I originally turned these off due to low quality of comments (and the commenters too, you might say ;) and channelled everything into creating a community. So the question is - If comments for articles were enabled on the blog posts (Facebook login required) would you use the forum less?

Glad it works in Opera however the layout and font is wrong. Maybe a bug, I'll try Opera and see what the issue is. See the attached pic for how it should look (Google Chrome / Safari on right vs Opera on left) PS if anyone wants to help debug with screen grabs, the attach files on the forum option for attaching pics is under 'more reply options'

Why does it look so different? The front page / article header looks very different on your screen grab to how it does on my display. Totally different font for starters!

Thanks, good point but I think you'll get used to it though ;)

Thanks for the feedback. Lower than 1080p screens - What models are we talking specifically here - are you using a Macbook Air? Cheers

Olympus 'beta tested' 4K firmware for E-M1, developing cine lenses
Andrew Reid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Yes but that's a leak, it isn't the final v2.0 release. I suspect they could have two firmwares. One is going in a new camera or the silver E-M1 only and the other will be for stills guys and existing E-M1 owners. Let's wait for the official announcement next week and find out. -
The old 5D Mark II has had an outing on the long-delayed new Mad Max movie as a "semi-disposable stunt camera". The DSLR was chosen as a proven work-horse crash-cam despite being released way back in 2008. Principal photography for the film completed in December 2012 but ended way over budget and recently underwent various re-shoots, pushing the release date from 2013 to May 2015. The 5D Mark II is a very old model by 2014 standards but I'm actually not surprised it still gets some very nice work in the film industry. I'm working on updating my 5D Mark III raw shooter's guide with the intent to provide a version for 5D Mark II users and in the process discovered something very interesting about how the models compare... Olympus 'beta tested' 4K firmware for E-M1, developing cine lenses
Andrew Reid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Just done some research on the Mad Max pics. No E-M1 only E-M5. The Canon DSLR is a Mark II or Mark III. If it is a Mark II they are clearly Mad :) The main A camera is of course an Alexa or 12. -
Olympus 'beta tested' 4K firmware for E-M1, developing cine lenses

Great pics. Do you have any more on this story? Source I believe was a stunt extra on Iron Man 2. If he is involved with Mad Max it is likely to be as a stuntman or stunt coordinator. This rumour is one of his best stunts yet though ;) -
Olympus 'beta tested' 4K firmware for E-M1, developing cine lenses
Andrew Reid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
He's not the beta tester. He just knows the people doing the testing on an unspecified production he's involved with. Throughout this the source has not asked us to link to him on twitter or his production company website. So what's he got to gain from lying? 43rumors has seen a photo of the firmware with the 3840x2160 resolution options, etc. but the source isn't allowing them to publish it. -
Thanks Kirk. Vimeo embed by pasting the URL into the post worked for me on your video '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>> Anyone else having issues? I will have to look further into it. Cheers

Creativity and ideas is hardly 'buried' when it is one click away form the front page of the forum. I have compressed the top of the forum into less space and reduced the size of the top banner. As for the forum theme looking the same as the old one when you are logged in... please post a screen grab. This would count as a bug.

What does it look like when not logged in for you? Details please.

Yep, it's responsive so layout changes depending on screen size. On mobile it should be like using an iPhone app. No need to zoom in on a large webpage. Just the headlines and images to scroll through and large text.

Delayed till next Monday now. Lots of new stuff coming ahead of Photokina. I've had to focus on the new design a LOT so content has slowed.

Again and again the comment about white text on black background has come up, people do seem to prefer black text on a white background. So I have changed it. I'd like to hear feedback on this point, it's really key... If you liked the previous style better let me know. But if the white style looks as smart, I'm happy to keep it if it saves eyes!
