  2. Right now I’m out of town, but before I left, I was waiting on a couple step up rings from Amazon so I can fit some of these older taking lenses. I think the Miranda‘s are gonna work out really well and they have a 46 mm front filter thread, which works out perfect for the 52 mm rear on the Nero adapter. I’m going to do a shoot out with the Kowa R’s and some of the other 60’s glass on both Lumix S1 R, and the Fuji sensor in super 35 modes. I’ve seen good results with Super 35 on the FX30. Here are a couple links in the meantime. First one is pretty clean without showing much character but i like to see how it could look for corporate work. The other two show the versatility of choosing various vintage glass.

  4. The BF is beautiful. If I found one used at half price, I would probably take it. B&H has one used right now for about $1,700 which gets into a range where I daydream for a minute, but I'd be much more interested at $1,100-1,200. It's the same thing that makes the X-M5 tempting. The X-Half is... not for me, at all. Not at any price. I think that a lot of the FX2 irritation is that they released it so close to releasing the A7V. But I also suspect that it's only a small number of people who bought it who want the A7V now.
  5. well as an X-Half owner I have to say, it's a very fun camera to use, overpriced, yes! A bunch of years back, they voted the Canon XC-10 the worst camera and lens of the year, and to date that camera did so well for me and paid for itself over and over again! I don't shoot puddles! am
  6. Nice frog, thought it was real for a second 🙂 I have recently picked up another 'faulty' anamorphic from Sirui, cost 160 euros and this time is the Sirui 50mm T2.9 1.6x anamorphic for Sony E-mount. Repairing it was quite easy as whoever put it in the spares & repairs bin doesn't seem to know that the anamorphic squeeze and 'de-centered internal elements' are not the same thing 🙂 It's definitely not in same league as an Iscorama for character but it still has a cinematic look and much less distortion than the little Saturn from earlier. https://store.sirui.com/blogs/guides/full-frame-anamorphic-sirui-50mm-t2-9-1-6x-lens-review?srsltid=AfmBOooPLqqtjgePHhwDkxLrA3fHpbTeyJOCB631Vf1LeSC6Fh2TRP1N I think for $450 it's a bargain really.
  7. I have an opinion on that... https://www.eoshd.com/opinion/chris-and-jordan-select-sigma-bf-fuji-x-half-and-sony-fx2-as-worst-cameras-of-the-year-just-goes-to-show-that-some-people-dont-have-a-single-creative-brain-cell/
  8. My firsts GH camera was the GH4, great camera in a lot of ways but definitely tough to work with overall image wise. The GH5 was really something special though, just a really good 4k 10bit image, and also some of the best 1080p I've worked with out of a mirrorless.
  9. Oly cameras are charming. I have had plenty come and go. I don't like NOT having at least one. Currently own a EM10iii. The intangibles just make them "funner" to use.
  10. Speaking of the Kowa R’s… If anyone is looking for a great taking lens option for anamorphic adapters the 50mm f1/1.8 can be had for cheap. $35 on average attached to a camera. There are adapters on ebay but i chose to go for a custom Leica M mount to keep it versatile. The 28mm, 35mm and 100mm have gotten crazy expensive due to cinema rehousing but the 50mm options are available still for cheap. There are also some rangefinder options but those require a bit more tinkering and i’ll save that for another post.
  11. I am having a lot of fun with the Blazar Nero 1.5x adapter and the ability to fine tune the look based on various taking lenses. For me it really is an underrated adapter and it’s nice to be able to have a compact form factor. i got mine for $500 barely used and am looking to pick up a second one for my B cam. I’m excited to try it out on the 5K mode my new Lumix S1R because it performs well on Super 35 with a little less wild edge distortion. I have a whole desk full of vintage taking lenses to adapt so i’ll post some results once I get things dialed in. 52mm rear threads make it a nice fit for older 60’s glass and I’m adapting Canon FL, Kowa R’s, Miranda and Yashica stuff from the early 60’s. The amber flare option was removed from sale pretty early so i’ve had trouble finding one. The blue flares are more common but gives mixed results with my mostly amber coated 60’s/70’s glass.

  13. The original Olympus OM3 was one of the finest cameras I ever owned. Didn’t need a battery except for the meter (if I recall correctly). Even seeing “OM” brings back memories of long gone days… ironically given the debates about MFT, FF s16 etc, I sold it to get a Bronica MF. Anyway, sorry, totally irrelevant to the post.
  14. I may do a comparison on the blog about the E-M1X and OM1. The E-M1X is... different.
  15. I had one for a while and whilst I didn’t much care for the video compared with my full-frame Lumix at the time (S1H), I did like the stills files, but most of all, the form factor; the weight, ergos, build and sheer ‘rightness in the hand’ of the thing. Also the lenses, both the fast primes and the zooms. If I was ever going to do 4/3rds, it would be the OM-1 without having to think about it.

  17. I find the timing for this article pretty funny, I was recently re-working a few files from my old E-m1x and was reminded of how much I liked the look and feel of them, Yes they are technically inferior to the current generation but there is something about them. So just picked up an OM system brand Olympus OM1 and 12-40 this past weekend..... waiting for them to arrive from Japan!
  18. Yes I am an avid viewer also. There are some great interviews with other photographers on the channel too.
  19. "Passionate people in a time when there's not a lot of courage going on" Too right Ms Obama.

  21. I'm glad that it sounds like they'll be open sourcing what they finished, at least.
  22. Sadly, things have taken a bit of a turn which is a real shame. Trying to do projects like this is hard enough without real life turning up and kicking you in the nuts let alone having to deal with the absolute shitehawks it attracts. Hopefully things can turn round in time.
  23. It takes its core from CinePi, but the people working on it are attempting to make it accessible with a better GUI, buttons pre-configured, etc. If you visit the CinePi discord, the AltCine folks are pretty active there and seem to be working with the full blessing of the CinePi core developers.
  24. G9 II has a few gotchas: * no fan, so overheats * audio nerfed so you can’t use TC1 / tentacle etc * no hdmi out when recording with hybrid zoom Otherwise, I really liked it but it’s gone to MPB and been replaced by GH7.
  25. I'm curious, is this just the CinePi camera project rehoused in a nice body?
  26. Looks very nice, what does the build look like if I may ask?
