John, I don't appreciate content from our private offline conversations being referenced here, and I feel the need to state that I am in no way affiliated with John's Rectilux. We were merely compar

How the heck is he doing this? I can't wait to learn more.

That is integrated lens.  Attachment is big one, but due to big glasses, so has even higher resolution.

I don't understand your point. But there are many factors involved for higher resolution in a lens. The gold ultra stars were called "HD" while the red ultra stars had the labeling "HD plus" - since the red ones had higher resolution. The ultra star hd plus were more expensive back in the days as well. Anyway, it's quite irrelevant, since both of them resolve very well - resolution is not an issue in 1080p nor 4k.

Cannot compare with High Difinition attachment, which has big front glasses, fits 82mm cap, 1.2kg weight. For video, like 16f, front 52mm is enough for sure. But I am not a video guy, may only one here, so pictures can tell.

So I recently stumbled upon the VM 1.5 anamorphic lens in my searches to find one that works for my needs than my over-sized ISCO Cinelux.

Has anyone tried this one out? It seems to me like this thread turned into arguing and discussion about the FM focuser. What about the actual anamorphic lens? Anybody tested it since this thread was active? Is it something one would recommend?

IMO, it is better than other big 1.5x lens, such as ????SCOPE 1.5x lens.  But you have to use very small front diameter taking lens and with small cmos/ccd camera.  So it is good for small DCs or even cell phones if it has not too wide angle lens.

Well I'm using a Canon T3i, so unless I'm dumber than I think I am about all of this.... I should be alright, correct?

I'm still looking around just in case, but I do want a smaller anamorphic. From the sound of it, this fits my needs perfectly so far.

I don't think it covers the whole sensor on that camera, unfortunately.
