mtheory
A Nokia engineer announced that RAW photo support is coming to Nokia 1520 and 1020 with Lightroom processing and etc. https://twitter.com/Partinen/status/392596490289307648 At this rate of pro feature adoption by mobile phones, I'm starting to wonder if Canon should start making pro lenses for mobile phones instead of focusing on point and shoots... Julian
Awesome! Hope the Lumia 1020 gets an update for raw. I actually like the 1020 less (for photography) than the 808 because you don't have any control over sharpness/contrast. The jpg's out of the 1020 have too much contrast, sharpness/noise reduction and saturation. The 808 would let you set contrast/saturation/sharpness in steps from -5 to +5. Administrators Andrew Reid Posted October 22, 2013 Administrators Share Posted October 22, 2013 Finally! Very useful. I hear Nokia are also working on a Lytro style focussing method too where it takes multiple shots in quick succession at different focus distances. Not the same technology as Lytro obviously but simple to do.
mtheory
Yep, it's called Nokia Refocus. I believe it uses a burst mode to shoot a multi-focus sequence, so it probably won't work well in low light yet. Fast forward a few years and someone will figure out how to do that with video.... HurtinMinorKey
What are the chances we get short bursts of raw video? Asking too much?
hoodlum
Shot to shot times are currently 4s with JPEG. What will they be with 41mp RAW images?
HurtinMinorKey
Shot to shot times are currently 4s with JPEG. What will they be with 41mp RAW images? Could be less since there won't be any processing?
OzNimbus
At this rate, we'll see full raw video on phones in 5 years.
