Going to the US in vacations...what to get ?

Im going in August to the US in vacations, so im thinking in getting some new gear, since the $$ is cheaper than the €€. But im still not sure what to get, I've been keen to get a Black Magic URSA 4k (it would cost me 2.667€ new after conversion), but im still not sure if I should make that jump or wait for a different camera, this is a HUGE investment for me.

To make it work, realistically, I would only need a CFcard and a battery option, right ?

What else would make sense to get in the US ?

Also, would I have any problems with customs if I bring the camera in my hand bag (w/o the box) ?

Be sure to pick up some tolerance for a lot of inanity.  It's an election year here.  "Election" means something different to the U.S. culture and its citizens than it does to the rest of the world.  Plus, there's more than a bit of political existential hand wringing going on that we need to sort out, so expect even more navel gazing than typical.

Going to New York City?  Maybe consider a visit to B&H.  Not only to consider a purchase, but check it out for social study.  (and you can review the EOS thread about that biz from a few month back too)

And no, US customs won't care about you carrying a camera.  Not sure where you're returning to, but I doubt it would matter there either.  I've never had issue bring gear into Europe...save for Spain, but that was decades ago before the EU and we had too much pro cases with us to be inconspicuous.

Everything!!! ;) Any electronic goods, cosmetics, photo/video (used or new) etc. I would probably be deterred from buying something as expensive as a camera body, though tempting..

Used items can save you as well (Check out fredmiranda) but make sure you have enough time to test and return anything before travelling back home.

Items like batteries, CF cards, $3-400 items such as a JuicedLink or the odd lightpanel and so on will save you money. If I were to do it I'd take the items out of the original box, collapse it (make sure you keep any paper work) and bubble wrap it or take it in your carry-on luggage.
