  1. We started off the airfield ERBACH, close to Ulm in South Germany towards the Allgäu, which is very close to the border to Austria. Places that can be seen are: Ochsenhausen, Laupheim (my very hometown), Oberstdorf, Grünten and many more - I don't recognize all the mountains and places we passed.   This was a little test filming in RAW. Nothing quite serious.   THANKS TO ANDREAS. He is an amazing pilot :)   Canon EOS 5D MK II - Continuous RAW filming at 1880x800 using Komputerbay 64GB 1000x Lenses used: EF 50mm f1.4, EF 24-70mm f.28   http://vimeo.com/69573527
  2. Hi there   I'm thinking of getting a 50D, but I'm a bit worried that I don't have Adobe Photoshop/ACR, Lightroom or Premiere, which seem to figure heavily in people's workflows. Has anyone tried processing ML raw video outside of the Adobe ecosystem? Nothing against adobe, I just can't afford to invest in a different platform right now.   I have Aperture, FCPX, and DaVinci Resolve Lite. Anyone have any suggestions for what a non-adobe workflow might look like? I am going to be at a disadvantage compared to those in adobe-world? :-)    Andrew, does your 50D raw video book cover non-adobe workflows?   thanks
  3. http://vimeo.com/70387959     For this video, I shot with a slower CF Card (60MBS) that gave me 1152 X 864 resolution at 24 FPS in 4:3 mode without skipping frames. I could shoot for at least 4 minutes (I didn't try shooting longer). I did my color correction with Adobe Photoshop and converted to 2304 X 864 in Compressor.   Thank you

  6. http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=5780.29   Canon 650D can record at least 1280x720 @ 24p RAW continously on write speed 45MB/s SD cards.  Further tests on faster cards and further firmware developments pending.   650D seems to be moving ahead of 60D/550D/600D and slightly behind 50D fairly quickly with ML updates.   Magic Lantern currently in Alpha stage of development for 650D: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=6320.new#new

  9. YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwgSWqdbniM Vimeo (downloadable): https://vimeo.com/67472338   First part used an LED light on camera; last part is ambient light.   Workflow: raw2dng => DNGs to ACR+AE => rendered as 175Mbps 10-bit 422 DNxHD MOV => edited in Premiere Pro CS6. AE CS6 Render Settings / Render Depth set to 16-bit and Output Module / Depth set to Trillions of colors (to make sure DNxHD was getting >= 10 bit color). 12-Core MacPro (running Win7x64) renders DNG to DNxHD at ~6FPS. Komputerbay 32GB 1000X (supports 1920x1080). Have 2 64GB 1000X on order. 128GB 1000X can only support 1920x900; was going to return it however Amazon offered a very generous discount to keep it (useful enough to keep).
