There are a lot of great camera options right now, but I think the lens ecosystem and overall usability matter just as much as the camera body itself. A camera that fits your workflow and encourages you to shoot more is usually the better choice than chasing specs alone.

I’d also make sure not to skimp on storage speed - having a fast NVMe drive for your active projects and cache files can make a surprisingly big difference to overall responsiveness, especially when working with larger footage formats.

A compact SSD and a good USB-C hub have probably been the most useful smartphone accessories for me lately, especially for video work. Small things, but they make the whole setup feel way more practical.

I kind of get the comparison honestly. Sony used to feel like the “experimental” brand, but now they seem a lot more conservative with updates and product segmentation. Still great cameras, but the excitement factor definitely feels different compared to a few years ago.

The LiDAR stuff is actually pretty interesting for manual focus setups. Even if it’s not perfect AF, having distance data as a focus aid could still be super useful for run-and-gun shooting or low light situations. Curious to see how reliable it gets in real-world use.
