  1. Are you talking Photos or Video? And yeah I will admit phones have WAY more horsepower than cameras do it seems to do all kinds of things. Seems pretty crazy a cheaper item is better to be honest. Look at the tech involved in the new DJI Osmo Pocket. Makes cameras look pretty dated. I must admit I don't know much about HDR. I have nothing that can shoot it, and can Only view it on my iPhone X. I never was a fan of HDR Photos even though they have been out a long time. Now HDR video that is a different story. Looks nice.
  2. You are believing this footage is 16 stops of DR that looks like HDR? This is there download sample of WDR on their Web Site. But it is only in 1080p and it was shot in 4K so probably not the best demo on their part. Not counting how many people have equipment to even view it other than on a late model iPhone. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1n0DD0KEmPdMkM0dAdzxaQbhEFdHcOSp6/view?us
  3. Yeah but I don't think you can compare HDR DR to, ehh what will I call it, regular DR. Any camera with 10bit and a Log profile can do HDR. Panny GH5 is a prime example. Wiki:" When HDR content is displayed on a 2,000 cd/m2 display with a bit depth of 10-bits per sample it has a dynamic range of 200,000:1 or 17.6 stops". Eh that is a pretty damn bight TV! So claiming 16 stops of DR is sort of misleading if true.
  4. It should be using the Sony IMX294CJK sensor. That is Maybe the same sensor that is in the GH5s, heck the PK4, even the Kinefinity 4K. 3 more stops than everyone else is getting in m4/3 is sort of a miracle. And at 10bit. We all know what ProRes can do, and Raw is @12 bit, 13 stops of DR. Hey I hope it is true, hope for the future. But I really doubt anyone is holding back, especially on a m4/3 sensor size. Sensor Type 4/3" WDR CMOS Sensor Sensor Size 17.3 x 13 mm Effective Pixels 10.28M Dynamic Range 13 Stops (ZLog) / 16 Stops (with WDR activated) Video Format 4096 x 2160 @ 59.94 / 50 / 29.97 / 25 / 24 / 23.98 fps 3840 x 2160 @ 59.94 / 50 / 29.97 / 25 / 24 / 23.98 fps 3696 x 2772 @ 59.94 / 50 / 29.97 / 25 / 24 / 23.98 fps 1920 x 1080 @ 59.94 / 50 / 29.97 / 25 / 24 fps Max Variable Frame Rate 120 fps for 4096 x 2160 120 fps for 3840 x 2160 59.94 fps for 3696 x 2772 240 fps for 1920 x 1080 Max Bit Rate 230 Mbps for 4096 x 2160 230 Mbps for 3840 x 2160 230 Mbps for 3696 x 2772 200 Mbps for 1920 x 1080 Color Bit Depth 10 bit (H.265) / 8 bit (H.264)
  5. Yeah but what makes you think that BMD can Only get 13 stops of DR out of the BMPC 4K and some we never heard of company in a sense is getting 16 stops out of the same sized sensor, maybe even using the Same sensor? And apparently Panasonic can't do it either on the GH5, GH5s or Olympus to boot.. Only cameras I sort of know of that have 16 stops or more is Red, and they really do tend to spread the shit pretty thick on DR figures. 16 Real stops is one hell of a lot of DR.
  6. 300 bucks of the PK4 is Resolve Studio. Camera really cost 999 bucks. Probably be 800 bucks used in not long. So twice as much the way I look at it. Maybe you already have Resolve Studio. I would trust the PK4 more on a job than the E2 I think. I see the E2 more like something someone built in their garage thing, at least as of now..
  7. Japan is broadcasting 8K right now. They have and sell 8K TV's. Apparently most countries are Way behind. I would imagine if you output in 4K doing a lot of Green, Blue screen, VFX, 8K would be a god send. People that buy and use the Red VV 8K camera must be using a 8K monitor. Lot cheaper I bet than a few cameras I suspect.
  8. Pretty nice looking rig from someone on Facebook.
  9. Yeah but I have seen them for 2000 bucks or less lately. That is a tempting price for a A cam Cine camera. I like the output from them.
  10. Oh I can say it is an interesting camera. And I like the form factor. And I like the look of the above Video. ProRes is a nice addition. But on paper right now it is 2x the price of the PK4. Hard sell for me right now.
  11. Yes you are right about that. But I don't see how they are going to keep up with development as fast as the rest of the industry is going. And it is going crazy fast. Non of this open source stuff goes very fast. Linux is a great example of that. Sure it gets better, but not as some rapid pace. Sony seems to be pumping out Sensors faster and faster.
  12. They are claiming 16 stops of DR in WDR mode! That is more than an Arri Alexa! I find a lot of what they claim hard to believe. http://www.z-cam.com/e2/
  13. I think it is just going to be too expensive compared to the PK4. That camera has really hurt this and the E2 price wise.

  15. This thing kills the GoPro in low light. And it is really pretty damn good in low light for what it is.

  17. Speaking of photokina, canceled next year. WTF. https://***URL not allowed***/photokina-2019-cancelled-starting-annually-2020/
  18. Those are honestly too hard to tell apart, at least for me. It would be a guess on my part. Very well done.
  19. Hell I am going to buy one. May give my kids one for Christmas. It is the best thing since sex. They won't be able to make enough of them fast enough. Ir will be a run away hit for DJI. You guys on here act like you are 90 years old. Get with it. It is nearly 2019. Other than on here we don't count for crap in the world. Get over it. We are Dinosaurs. I watch Hundreds of videos on YouTube a week, no movies but Blogs, and other than Audio once and awhile I never say Jesus the video quality sucks. We have progressed so far lately that piss poor video is a thing of the past. And heck half the video on the web is from a GoPro or a Drone with a sensor smaller than a fingernail. And guess what, it looks pretty damn good even with YT compression. Our skills are needed less and less everyday. Younger people might think of a different career path. 10 years from now my 94 year old Mon would be able to take good video.
  20. And what percentage of people that buy a X-T3 do you think will even take one video with it? I wold bet less than half do. And half of them won't use 10bit. Everyone on here acts like everyone is like us. They aren't. Most are photo people.
  21. We must have a pretty different definition of what filmic looks like I guess. I don't relate sharp with Filmic much at all. I see it as sort of hazy, shallow DoF, sort of noisy looking, on the darker side, kind of unexpected effects, even slo mo which I hate, muted, paler colors, on and on. Pretty much the opposite of a Smartphone. Average people must really like that because that is what is in every phone made. Super sharp, high saturation colors that jump off the screen. If your smartphone pictures and video aren't sharp you need a newer phone. My phones are that way, and to be honest for the stuff I would shoot with a phone I like it that way. Look at the new DJI Osmo Pocket. Makes the GoPro look dull sharpness wise. People will love it, right up their alley. And I don't think phones just give passable results. I think they give Way better results than the vast majority of people EVER got out of their DSLR's, and a lot of their P&S., and Tons better video than the old clunky video cameras ever had. Sure at night they sort of suck, but most high end Cine cameras are not so hot even today. It is only the last few years this Dual ISO thing has taken off, and they are in very few hands even now. Even a Arri Alexa is pretty bad in low light. Sure we on average don't like that highly processed look. But we are less than 1% of the whole world. And I will admit, I take the vast majority of videos on my phone, and photos on it, and I have it set to auto and away I go. The people that I show it to, mostly family, have no clue what filmic is and don't care. They want to see sharp in focus stuff that has realistic colors. And a Smartphone gives that to me and them in Spades. I think my Smartphone shots are pretty sharp. And for DR there again most people have no clue what that even is and I really don't myself look at the output of my phone and say Wow the DR sucks, it looks terrible. I think phones, cameras have gotten to the point that a lot of this stuff is good enough that it just looks more than good enough right out of camera. Tech has really jumped forward in the last 5 years, and for the average person, even enthusiasts it is probably good enough on the vast majority of shots.
