  1. Zak how did you turned off the frame guide? I tried to turn it off but didn't succeed. Also the battery percentage doesn't work either.
  2. Thanks for the link. The VS-2 is working fine for me so far. False color seems ok and consistant. However histogram is somewhat strange and different than what the Pocket shows, hight light info seems capped and not complete. I haven't tried the histogram with the Micro yet. Some bad things: The color of this monitor is bad, it's way too green by default and I couldn't calibrate it to a point that I'm satisfied. I shoot Raw so it still seems ok to me. Furthermore, for some reason, the shadow/highlight in the monitor is kind of mushy, hardly any detail there. I guess it has something to do with the dynamic range of the monitor or the signal procressing is quirky. My feeling about this monitor is that it's good for focusing and exposure, the rest is bad. For the price it's quite ok though. They promised for firmware upgrade but the link never works...
  3. That's correct. Years ago I had the EF 17-40L lens, the aperture was coupled with a mechanical slider, and I can see the aperture change by itself when I zoom, even without power, and there was no change of exposure of the camera while zooming. Nowadays the constant aperture could be fully controlled by electronic, I'm not sure about this though.
  4. I'm doing exactly the same with a VS-2 FineHD. It's very nice to use it this way. Your HDMI cable looks nice, where can I find one?
  5. Electronic aperture is not the cause, optical design is. Try EF lenses with constant aperture.
  6. My Micro has arrived! Such a little beauty. My VS-2HD looks huge when mounted on the Micro
  7. 3k+ for a still FF camera and people keep praying for better 8 bit compressed video quality, maybe even cropped and without zebra etc., I'm starting to think how unefficient it is to stay with Canon after seeing what Blackmagic and Kinefinity can deliver with their price. It's so unfortunate that Canon banned Magic Lantern, no more 5D raw video on new models.
  8. Wonderful! I just ordered my Micro yesterday. Now I'm so excited.
  9. Oh that's a big problem indeed. I have a note in OneNote or Evernote etc, with all my serial numbers written down. Softwares like Premiere are now using cloud based licence management. So it's getting easier, just rememeber the account and there you go.
  10. Yeah, I make sure all my files are kept in a separate disk. Check this out: http://www.macworld.com/article/1164891/mac-apps/keeping-mac-os-and-data-on-separate-drives.html This is one hell of reason I like Mac OS, just like those Linux and Unix systems. Organizing files is a breeze. Actually most of the settings are still there after reinstall the OS if we do it right, saved a lot of time, and I don't need time machine any more. I don't do upgrades anymore because it's actually quite buggy most of the time. Instead I just do a clean install. I normally spend about two hours for the install of everything and it's very easy with the above trick. Once per year for a Mac, doesn't sound too crazy, and it actually saved me quite some time from sorting out all the upgrade bugs. And sure the OS is blazing fast as it's a clean install, no matter it's Mac or Windows.
  11. Yes that could be a good solution. The Fuji lenses are also quite nice, looking forward to the XT2.
  12. I have been using Leica for stills for years. If someday we have a good & small s35 camera with MFT mount, I will try using Leica M glass for video.
  13. Isn't that Craft camera works at max 4k 120fps? VA has only 60fps as far as I know.
  14. I'm thinking exactly the same. But some drawbacks in mind is that the slo-mo is not possible anymore with the VA.
  15. It feels a bit like kickstarter way of gathering feedback and market research to me. $500 reservation is not that much for their 4k model, and the amount of reservation and the feedback from the forums can reflect how the market may react to their final product. They just need to ask for that $500 on monday, not in this email. I hope there will be some solid specs coming out, but somehow I have a feeling that it will look like a Terra 5K or Axiom. Curious curious curious
  16. I guess there are some specs which can still be changed or they're not fully determined yet, but the major specs will probably be available at the time the reservation opens. I don't like the global shutter issue with BM either and Craft seems to be cautious, not a bad thing.
  17. It looks they will announce the camera first with some specs, and opens the preorder for it, doesn't sound too crazy, but indeed shady. I'm curious to see what they will bring out.
  18. The chart is comparing the size, not weight. They used total volume here.
  19. Nice! I'm going to get one as well, a great combo.
  20. I can translate it for you guys. Terra 6K has the same sensor as KineMAX 6k Terra 5K: 5K 60FPS, 4K 100FPS, 3K 150FPS, 2K 200FPS Has option of global shutter, native iso 800 15 stops DR with rolling shutter and dual gain mode 13 stops DR with global shutter The Dual gain feels like a HDR thing? RAW 12bit + ProRes 10bit internal recording, KineLog3, 2.5" SSD About the same size as a 5DIII HDMI out with type A connector (big connector), 3.5mm Mic in SDI and XLR are there as well, it seems like an external module
  21. Zak is that a Rode VideoMic Go on you rig? How do you like this audio setup?
  22. Maybe BMD can work out a new firmware with an option of 30fps HDMI output. The 60fps output it has now basically screwed many of the EVF/monitors we are using, and not everyone is planning to change the gear yet.
  23. Maybe try removing the battery for a few hours, then turn it on again with a new formatted SD card, without HDMI connection.
  24. From what I saw in the external monitor, my NX1 was outputting 1080p 60Hz via HDMI in live view mode, then switch to 4k 25Hz in video standby mode. I guess that's the reason it has less rolling shutter in live view mode.
  25. I haven't got Andrew's LUT either, but I think there are many nice LUTs around the net as well. In fact I just bought the Osiris LUT and I'm trying it out.
