  1. Awesome! waiting for a payment from a sidejob so I will let you know! thank you. I shoot kids a lot and sometimes I need auto setting everything with a zoom/autofocus. (instead of drowning in technicals and missing a shot) I was trying to stay with the same manufacturer, but will look at Oly 12-40 again. As far as 15mm, pana leica 1.7. I do have manual focus lenses when I have extra time, but sometimes I need that autofocus indoors with kids.
  2. hm. I''m wondering if I should get a used GX85 and either 12-35 or 15mm instead.
  3. Wow, some people on dpreview are jerks.
  4. Just received Gold Award at dpreview. https://***URL removed***/reviews/panasonic-lumix-dmc-g85-g80 This was supposed to be my xmas present dang it. If only they fix this issue.
  5. I can tell you at least on actors side, I have two friends who moved to L.A. after they did theater in high school all four years. One of them even got a full grant. The one that got the grant moved back to Atlanta, which now tv and film scene is moving up. He is slowly getting small parts here and there I believe. The other one just finished college there and have a corporate job. So, I don't think moving to L.A. is a big factor, unless you live in the middle of nowhere. Heck, even then I believe you can create amazing stuff. Something from your point of view. Not everybody else in L.A. looking at the same thing. I rambling on just to say keep at it! P.S. If you live in Atlanta, I'd be willing to pitch in.
  6. Hope it's a defective unit. thank you for sharing.
  7. ah ok. https://***URL removed***/products/nikon/compacts/nikon_cpa
  8. https://***URL removed***/products/nikon/compacts/nikon_cpa900/specifications is this the Coolpix you're talking about?
  9. with a grain of salt, http://www.stevehuffphoto.com/2016/10/26/my-first-day-impressions-with-the-olympus-e-m1-mkii-and-new-lenses/ "12-100 Lens will focus as close as 1cm and according to Olympus" !!! uh....1cm??? "No more rolling shutter issues as Oly found a way to minimize it to an almost non existent level." We shall see...
  10. How is it contradicting? They like making short videos and now they want something more than what their iPhone could offer them. Overall, I agree with you, but our experiences may vary. There are middle schoolers in my local hackerspace making anything from costumes to raspberry pi projects.
  11. Both BHphoto and Digitalrev list the GH5 (no pricing and specs yet) http://www.43rumors.com/both-bhphoto-and-digitalrev-list-the-gh5-no-pricing-and-specs-yet/ https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1283257-REG/panasonic_dmc_gh5_mirrorless_micro_four.html http://store.digitalrev.com/product/panasonic-lumix-dmc-gh5-body/MTEwNTI4Ng_A_A
  12. But those people ask you or me for advice on which next camera to get. And for some, having a feature rich camera(including video) is important to them. They ask, if my phone can do 4k, why can't my $1000 dedicated camera do that? Other wise they would just buy T5 on sale somewhere. Editing part, sure. not for everyone, but lot of kids now know how to do a simple drag and drop on their iMovie app. People in my circle, at least, don't want half baked solutions. Why would they? Their shiny new iPhone 7 is now water proof that does stabilized videos, simple edit in iMovie, and share it in 30 minutes. If they're spending another $1k on yet another device, they want something more from that purchase. People who has that much money are likely to buy higher end models later on, and have a decent enough computer to do simple edits. Also, my wedding photographer buddies are slowly asking about video side, because their clients demand it. These are, of course, just my opinion and I guess time will tell. It would really be a sad day if Nikon ever went away. I did have couple of Sony's. I am indeed switching to Panasonic. :)
  13. More and more younger people as young as middle school kids getting into videos, I would think it would hurt them more in sales by not including more video features. what choice do I have if I want 4k, IBIS, swivel screen, all under $1k? G80/85. Just a few more opens up if you can do with one or two of the three. I started stills with D70, than D90 with 720p. After that I moved to Cannon with T2i with 1080p. I'd love to come back to Nikon, and still have a couple of lenses, but not in its current state. it is, indeed, baffling.
  14. Everybody's entitled to their own opinion. :D
  15. I think it's still in the same league as other smartphones like iPhone 7 Plus, LG V20, etc.
  16. http://eng-ca.faq.panasonic.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/39309/kw/39309 "The LUMIX G85 integrates 5-Axis Dual I.S.2 (Image Stabilizer)*, combining 5-axis body and 2-axis lens stabilization for more effective handshake correction and compensation for shots up to 5 f-stops**. The 5-axis stabilization works in both wide and telephoto photography and motion picture recording, including 4K Video. With the LUMIX G85, a new gyro sensor increases the image stability compensation power of the 5-Axis Body image stabilization to correct hand-shake for all lenses, including classic lenses not equipped with optical image stabilization."
  17. Electronics? They talk about it here. https://***URL removed***/forums/thread/4065555?page=9 Edited for source.
  18. This looks like Zhiyun with accessories and better customer service? He mentions using the Zhiyun app to control it. Not for C100 though.
