  1. The high iso performance of my XT3 is worlds ahead of my previous experience. While 3200 and 6400 do add some noise; I find it looks more like film grain, which I don’t mind! Very usable.
  2. Hey Mark, curiously I wound up just now trying to balance my XT3 with the Kit Lens. For whatever reason - when trying to calibrate...I just can't seem to get the calibration tool to work. Pretty much ready to put this thing up for sale, unless anyone else has any ideas or success in calibrating their Zhiyun Crane V2 gimbal on MacOS? For whatever reason - the gimbal and the software were not picking each other up. Also you never see the V2 gimbal on the Zhiyun site, only the Crane and Crane 2. When balanced, the gimbal as-is with my XT3 just isn't calibrated. Barely moving the gimbal a few inches forward for instance, causes it to struggle to figure out where the field of gravity is and it starts going left/right etc. Just not reliable as-is. Again, if anyone has success in calibrating a Zhiyun Crane V2 Gimbal on MacOS - let me know 🙂

    NX1, baby!

Video was hilarious!! It’s also still amazing that Samsung introduced all of that in 2014. So far ahead of the curve. But then left!
  4. @MrSMW So what did you end up with? I must say since you helped me get out of my Sony a6500 back in august and into a Fuji XT3, I could never go back! Personally just find the Fuji easier to use and the colors just seem to look better out of the box.
  5. Wow Andrew this is incredibly sad! While 2020 has no doubt, been hard on all industries, it would be an absolute shame to see beloved camera companies gone with the blink of an eye. The Kodak reference is spot on, as a 35mm film enthusiast, it’s quite stunning how complacent these huge corporations can become. While the video market may see Nikon’s offerings as out of touch and rightfully so, it would be a shame to see such a historic company become just a relic. Side note- hope everyone on this forum is surviving well during this pandemic! I purchased an XT3 in August but to be honest, haven’t felt motivated to even shoot occasional clips due to life.
  6. What I'm talking about! Thanks man. Found this video and will give this all a shot.
  7. I appreciate your thoughts man. I’m just trying to wrap my head around the why. Just seems that if the gimbal was properly balanced I shouldn’t have had it acting on its own.. Anyways, this is a hobby for me not my nine to five so I will either keep trying to give it a go but you may see a crane v2 for sale on eBay soon...
  8. Wound up just doing photos on this job. Couldn’t get the gimbal balanced without the described behavior above. I looked up the approx weight of the xt3 and 10-24f4 but totaled, the weight shouldn’t be more than the advertised Crane V2 capacity of 4lbs? Does anyone else think perhaps the crane v2 couldn’t handle the weight or did I just set up the gimbal wrong?
  9. I’ve since read that the maximum weight capacity of the v2 (not the 2) is 3.9 lbs? The 10-24 I’m renting feels like a couple pounds alone. Perhaps it’s either just a bit too heavy or I just don’t have it balanced enough. Shouldn’t the gimbal keep the camera steady from moving unless you tell it to? Isn’t that the whole point of a gimbal? Like when I use it with the mode where it will only pan with the zhiyun joystick on the back; even then the camera seems to slightly veer left or right and I can definitely see the camera moving subtley. Any advice would be appreciated
  10. So I’m renting a Fuji 10-24 f4 for a few days to do some real estate photography for a friend. I purchased a gimbal in the title the crane v2 back in March. I’ve only toyed around with it slightly. Last night I was so frustrated I’m about ready to sell it. I followed several videos on how to balance the gimbal and it appeared to be sitting level on my stand yet when I fired it up the camera would be level, yet as I started walking its like I lose control of the direction. I’m not telling the gimbal to pan but as I walk the camera will make these micro movements to the left or the right. I also notice the camera ever so slightly bouncing up and down when walking sometimes. Could it be that this combo is too heavy for this gimbal? Why won’t the camera stay locked unless I tell it to pan? It’s hard too describe but it just feels like the camera is controlling the gimbal and the gimbal can’t handle it. I’m definitely a gimbal noob but I’m thinking about selling if I can’t figure this out.
  11. Sounds to me like the pocket 6K should be a good fit for ya. As long as you don’t need AF I can’t see why you would miss the c100 mk ii
  12. Good to know! I was going to say, the OIS in this kit lens is better than any I’ve ever had. I have a few Nikon primes I’ll eventually buy a dumb adapter/speedbooster for. Particularly my 100mm 2.8 e series Nikon prime. Really enjoying this camera so far, especially the colors.
  13. I’ll have to give this a shot and see for myself. I appreciate the explanation! So this doesn’t happen with the 16-55 f2.8? The only reason I didn’t get that lens was $$ and it didn’t have OIS which I figured would be of much help on the xt3. I do have a zhiyun crane v2 but for everyday shooting I’d prefer a lens with OIS. I’m loving the kit lens otherwise but am definitely seeing the benefits of a 2.8 zoom. I used to have a tamron 17-50 f2.8 that I loved. Might pick up one of the cheap XC prime lens to get that ultra shallow depth of field when needed!
  14. Huh that’s odd! I haven’t noticed yet likely due to spending time with the camera. On that note, which of the affordable primes would you recommend for video? I was looking at the XC and XF models. Wish they had OIS though
  15. As a new Fuji xt3 owner, can someone enlighten me on the exposure stepping with the 18-55 2.8-4? You mean to say when you zoom in, not only the f stop changes but the iso does (without technically changing)? Ive only owned this kit for a few days, still learning the ins and outs. Loving it so far. Mainly have just shot 10 bit h.265/Eterna
  16. I just sold my Sony a6500 setup in three seperate auctions for the body and two lenses. Everything went smoothly thus far but on the auction for the a6500, I did get a ton of bogus offers wanting my paypal address with a stock message (they were all identical). Plus they offered more than my buy it now price so I knew it wasn’t legit. The other two land this week so hopefully no complaints!
  17. Got it! I’ll have to do my own experiments I guess and find what works best but this seems like a good starting point.
  18. @ade towell good to hear. So you didn’t have to do anything crazy in resolve with F-Log? @MrSMW So what dr do you typically run the camera at? 200% reasonable for iso of 320?
  19. I saw a few threads where it had been mentioned that flog had some issues with highlights/blacks clipping in resolve and maybe others. Is this still an issue with the x-T3? Also am I correct that flog has a base iso of 640 but you can reduce the dynamic range to enable a lower iso? How much does this hurt your final image? I plan to use the Eterna film stock but do want to try f-log
  20. Thanks! BH threw an extra battery in there so I have two on the way. I’m used to Sony batteries so if I have to I’ll stock up.
  21. Thanks! Gonna give the Xt3 a go and see what it can do.
  22. Well thanks to everyone’s help today, I sold my Sony a6500 and 35mm lens eBay. Coming my way at the end of the week from Bh photo is the following: Fuji xt3 with a 18-55 f2.8-4 Sony 128gb uhs II v60 sd card Can’t wait to start shooting this weekend
  23. Can someone advise me on the best memory cards for the XT3? Do I really need a v90 or will a v60 do? These are fairly pricey compared to the cards I'm used to shooting on...
  24. Good deal. Well that rules the x-H1 out. Honestly, I’m gonna go for the x-t3 because it’s all I can afford at the moment and I have a gimbal but if I really like the Fuji system I may flip and pick up an xt4 in the future. Thanks all for the help!!
  25. Whoah! That is impressive. Was this done with the log picture? Will try this later. Most likely switching to Fuji though as I have my a6500 for sale 😂 Absolutely have a lot to learn with regards to color grading still! I’ve been shooting for 6 years or so but only marginally experienced in color grading. I understand scopes and waveforms and basic curve moves but log footage is a bit different to me and I can’t ever get nice colors that don’t look cheesy. Thanks for the advice! May PM you later when I have more time to play with the OG footage. Also my zebras in camera at 100 +\- 5 were showing clipping but clearly I was mistaken. Thanks for the help
