  1. Andrew, considering your apparently very good connections with samsung, did you send them our list of requests/suggeations for new nx1 firmwares? Thanks.
  2. I'd also like to see ibis into nx1, like a mk2 model, but this of course won't happen anytime soon. Two years from now, perhaps. In the meanwhile, a fast prime with ois would help (23/1.4 and 35/1.4 would be perfect for me).
  3. I doubt they'll update it consistently. The three digits nxs have always been quitquite far from the top, specs wise. Even when the hw was similar (nx300 never got the remote evf pro feature, even if it had the same processor as the nx30). P.s. I also noticed that they mention that focus peaking is disabled in 4k and uhd, on nx500.
  4. Here is the manual of nx500: http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201503/20150313082358453/NX500_English.pdf - no pro setting for video - max 40mb/sec bitrate - 120fps in 720p (not in 1080p) - no advanced video settings (gamma, mbl, ...)
  5. Perhaps a dumb question. Could rs be diminished via sw optimization? Or is it a pure hw issue, so not possible to improve via, say, fw update?
  6. I guess there is no way to completely turn off the display. That'd be a nice addition from samsung.
  7. Chris, this is clever, thx for the hint. I almost never use preview button, so that's a nice idea. Samsung should allow changing evf to display and vice versa through recording via evf button. There should also be a way to trigger saf while recording through evf.
  8. For me, the evf button is totally disabled both during recording AND during video standby. If you want to change that, you have to be in still capture mode. If there is a way to have it working during video, please let us know.
  9. Still hoping that this mode gets offered for nx1 as an alternative, as well. A sort of digital zooming (and perhaps reducing rs).
  10. They actually talked about lossy compressed raw, not lesser mp raw...
  11. Also nx1 is rated at 60p. But then there are the slowmo modes.
  12. The 300mm lens? Here it is: http://www.ephotozine.com/article/samsung-s-300mm-f-2-8-ed-ois-nx-lens-announced-26193
  13. I think that the nx1 has currently the most powerful hw in a camera. It could do all this and much more, if programmed well. I can only try to imagine what it could happen if the guys of magic lantern had access to the source code... Imo it could do 6.5k at 24fps.
  14. 300/2.8 is on the roadmap. A 1.4x teleconverter would then be nice.
  15. Here in Italy it's still at 1499€ in most shops, with a couple at around 1350€ (grey market I guess). I was able to find one with a good discount one month ago, but now I would not be able to find a better deal than the swedish ones.
  16. Look this image! 240fps for nx1? What do you think? I really hope the 240fps mode gets real and comes soon! It would mean a 10x slowmo at 24fps. Would be outstanding, if good quality.
  17. Wow this is an attractive price. Is it a temporary sale?
  18. Agreed. Having this crop mode as the only option is not good. But having it as a choice (a sort of digital zoom) is convenient and could reduce rolling shutter and jello. Andrew, if you are reading: did you send the suggestions for future firmwares to your contact in Samsung? I think I already mentioned this in my list, on the other topic, but if not, please add it. Thanks!
  19. Yes, very nice indeed. I guess they used motorized stands for moving the camera?
  20. Ed, would you write a small guide about grading nx1? I'm not into video and I'd like to learn more.
  21. As Ebrahim said, rescaling from 6.5k is a big load for the hw. The small body of nx500 could be unable to dissipate the heat. Or it could be a marketing decision to differentiate those models. 6.5 to 4k is a bit like a premium mode. But again, having ALSO the crop mode on nx1 would be nice!
  22. Only crop on nx500. But they should add crop to nx1 as well, being a premium body. Choice is good! P.s. shooting at 16/2 on crop mode would mean about 35-38mm which is nice considering the f2!
  23. Exactly! Andrew could pass the request to his samsung contact, along with other suggestions. Here is a video comparing nx500 (crop) to nx1 (downscaled):
  24. On a side note, I really really hope they add this to nx1 as well, as a selectable alternative to full readout and downscale.
  25. From a post on dpr by ihkim (creator of rocky mountain converter): NX500 launching show was held in Korea today. Big news is NX500 will have 4K video as crop mode which is same way how Panasonic does. For the 4K movie, NX500 will crop its sensor center area and map 1:1 pixel mapping for 4K. As result, NX500 will have crop ratio 1:1.6 in 4K mode. As you know 16mm focal length lens has 35mm equivalent 24mm ( 16 x 1.5 APS-C crop ratio). When you take 4K with NX500, the video will have around 38.5mm focal length effect. (16mm x 1.5 APS-C crop factor x 1.6 NX500 4K crop factor) The other video modes are not cropped though. (full pixel read-out and resize)
