  1. More slow motion videos are required for proper analysis…. you know, for science.
  2. Hi there, I've got my pennies together and I'm going to pick up a GH4 next week, and I even bought the EOSHD shooters guide. Problem... This GH4 audio buzzing I keep hearing about. How bad is it really? Lets say I bought a juice box to have with my GH4, and I was using it to record sound from radio mics from interviews/atmos though my GH4. Are my interview audio going to be ruined? Is it that noticeable or is it a tiny little sound issue? I'm going to be using my camera for short films but also for filming documentary work, and I don't want to have to use a separate recorder and then sync in Avid. I need to know that the sound is going to be ok, if I end up making a feature documentary but need to go back to the original rushes from when I was starting out I need to know I can go back and the audio will be useable. Anyone have any experience of this? Any one have any examples of it that you can hear on footage of someone talking?
  3. Yeah, looked at that but they seem to sell for really low which was scares me. To sell less then 50% of what you paid for them 6 months after buying them would be a painful experience. Thought it'd be better to sell to professionals who'd realise their worth/trust of not being fake and being well looked after cards. Oh well, bugger I'll have to sell for much lower. It'll hurt the most on the SXS-1 Pro 64gb cards, they were like 400 new, and will probably get maximum of 200 each.
  4. That's really helpful thank you nigelbb, I guess it'll take me a bit longer to get rid of the Delkin's. How many did you sell off may I ask? I'm going to have a look at what 60% of retail would be for them.
  5. I've got a load of memory cards left over from jobs that I'm never going to use again, and it's money just sitting there that I need. I've got 14 SXS-1 pro 64gb cards, 4 32gb SanDisk CF cards extreme's 120 mb/s. The gold ones. 5 32gb SanDisk 60mb/s CF cards. 1 32gb 90mb/s CF cards, and 1 64gb 90mbs card I think. 64gb Delkin 400x CF cards. - I've got like 40 of these! FORTY. There just doesn't seem to be much of any of this stuff for sale on eBay, which worries me that no one will bid on them and they'll just never sell or sell for dirt cheap because people will assume they're fake and not real extremely expensive to buy brand new ones, and kit houses are a bit reluctant to buy them second hand. Does anyone have any good suggestions in Britain or a site or anyone who might want to buy them from me? I don't have any camera at the moment that uses either format, and I've had some of them for a year just sitting there just been used once or twice. Need to get rid of them. Any suggestions welcome!
  6. Looks bloody incredible, holy hell. Did you just do it on holiday? Or was it for work?
  7. Can I ask you how one goes about getting commissions from the League of Nurses and The National Health Service?
  8. This is bloody incredible. How do I get one? Seriously considering this as a sound solution to the GH4 for docs and short films. Do you think it would handle a interview situation or a narrative situation well? Say if you were in a enclosed quiet space?
  9. If you can find the video from the final day when all the stunt guys come together, that's a great video, it's just people doing multiple stunts in the barbican centre.
  10. I was DIT'ing/Data Wrangling for the production team. I was only on it for a few of the shoots. Was just starting out really, had only been working in the business for a year at that point. But the director Mike and the Line Producer Rach are super cool people. Although the production coordinator I worked on that show with is still one of my best mates to this day, and I'm going to the pub with him for his birthday tomorrow! Just checked and I'm still friends with that Keelan Phillips on Facebook as well. Maybe I should have a Facebook clear out.
  11. I met this guy years ago, he was making a film part of a show I was working on, called Concrete Circus for Channel 4 in Britain. He was a cool guy from what I remember, from Paris, and his film was my favourite one that came out of the lot. Danny Macaskill was on it as well. I think I even have some of the rushes from that show saved on a hard drive somewhere at home. Actually just realised I'm still friends with him on Facebook all these years later…
  12. HAHAHA, you have to admit, the blue mask joke was funny. But yeah… insulting the guy that owns the site probably won't get you far.
  13. so in terms of Canon lenses, or any lenses, it not being passive, what does that mean for the user? Autofocus working with it? Lens IS working?
  14. I'd say it looks more likely that it'll be a speed booster which allows power/info to transfer to the lenses to power autofocus, and power to the lenses for their own lens built in IS. What do people think? If it's nearly ready to be announced, then how long do you think before it's on sale?
  15. But when do you guys think such an adapter would be on sale? I'm buying a GH4, and I want to get a Sigma 18-35 with it, but I don't want to have to buy one with a nikon mount and a nikon m43 speed booster, if a canon one is about to go on sale. But at the same time I can't wait for months for something that might not come, argggghhhhhh. I just need a rough estimate of how long before it hits shelves, so I know if it's worth waiting or not before I start a new project.
  16. Thanks for all the great responses guys... Hypothetical question Andrew, But if a electronic EF to MFT speed booster did come out. How long do you think it would take for someone to develop and release one to go on sale? What do you think is more likely? One to be on sale within the next few weeks? Or one to be on sale in the next few months, after summer even? A few companies must be working on them, just wondering what you thought would be a good bet? I want to start a new project next month, and don't think I could wait for 3 months for a electronic EF speed booster for the GH4. Trying to work out if I should just buy a GH4 now, with a nikon mount Sigma, and a metabones MFT to Nikon mount speed booster. Then sell the lens and speed booster and buy an MFT to electronic EF speed booster and the same lens again but with EF mount, if a speed booster like that did come out. Risk of waiting around for something that might never happen, versus buying an expensive MFT to Nikon adapter and Sigma 18-35 nikon mount now, and selling later on at a loss.
  17. Thanks! Yeah I don't think the metabones Nikon speed booster has electronics and can't auto focus. But what I'm really after (I'm a bit sleep deprived at the moment because of work don't think I'm communicating well in general). If I could put either canon glass or nikon glass on my GH4 with a speed booster with no problems... Which is the better glass to invest in for filmmaking? Which is cheapest for a high level of quality?
  18. Thanks Andrew! But which are the better/more affordable lenses would you reckon? IF you were spending your money on your first camera, and it was a GH4. Which lens/adapters would you get? Including speedbosters?
  19. I do actually plan on using the autofocus at times. They'll be times when I'm doing more documentary type stuff. (British Docs tend to use A LOT of 5D and C300 stuff, and even some of the commissioners have told me stuff looked terrible. Stuff that was just shot on normal workhorse doc cameras like the XF305, or PMW300. So in these situations where a subject is moving back and forwards, a good tracking autofocus like the one apparently on the GH4, would be a god send!!! Any experience with the tracking focus anyone? Also I thought I might invest in a cheaper movi type system, in which case I'm guessing a good autofocus would greater help pull of more complicated shots where the distance between subject and the focus of the lens would be helpful!!
  20. Hi guys. So let's say in theory if Metabones brought out a EF lens mount specifically for the GH4 with electronics, which I'm about to buy), and we lived in this universe.... I'm going to make the move from TV documentary editing/shooting into directing short films, more commercials, more music videos/ and a step up to a documentary DV director. That sort of thing. I'm planning on getting the GH4, with a Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 as my first lens, as it is by all accounts a very high quality lens and would fit me perfectly for most situations. So... do I buy the GH4 with a speed booster with a nikon mount, and a nikon mount Sigma? Or do I wait for a possible soon to be released metabones speedbooster for the GH4, EF mount with electronics etc and a canon mount Sigma? I'd like your (much more knowledgable about DSLR's) guys opinions?! If I got the GH4, with a speed booster, which glass is the wise to invest in? I don't have a lot of money to spend on lenses in the near future, so I'd rather cheap quality glass in general. Canon/Nikon mounts? Which one in general is cheaper for a high level of quality? Which is just the best in general for someone like me? Who wants to start shooting low budget short films and features? Also what's the actual benefit of a EF mount with proper electronics? Does it just mean that I could use the autofocus feature on the GH4 with the Canon lenses? Any other benefits? Would it mean that lenses with image stabilisation would work on the canon lenses while on the GH4, and an imaginary speed booster which would allow such a thing?
