I use my Tiffen variable ND filter all the time. So far so good.

After various tests i might have found out that the Canon 1DC has a built in Sony A7S!!!  It's in the menu and the name is "High ISO Speed Noise Reduction = strong" which every user usually turns off because of a lack of knowledge, reading manuals and testing.  At ISO 128000 and 25600 you will get the same noise-less and softer images in both cameras.  But I have to admit: Good Hype Sony!

But how much is the 1DC? :D

Hi guys, just thought I would throw this out there because a lot of press releases claimed the FZ1000 does 240fps in 720p and 360fps in 480p.  It does not.  Some pre-release cameras even had this function, but Panasonic seems to have scrapped it at the last minute.

 

Anyone know about this and why it was removed?

Maybe the features are withheld for the next version? Planned obsolescence could be a reason.

Apple displays are too expensive.   Dell have some nice high resolution monitors (not 4K). But I heard that some graphics professionals prefer NEC monitors. Those are expensive as well.

Right. 15" rMBP is only 2880 x 1800.

Raising Master Pedestal more than 10 is indeed a bit problematic.

I have installed this new firmware 1.1 and have had trouble with the slowmo shooting mode @ 96fps. Camera has freezed totally severall times during recording. Only way to get past that is to pull the battery out and put it back in. A bit annoying when u are in the middle of shooting and you are loosing some important stuff because of that freeze... No other problems have popped out, yet.

How fast is your SD card?

I own the 12-35, and love the lens, but it's definitely not the sharpest. There're quite a few native lenses that can outperform the 12-35.

Could you suggest a few such lenses?  Do they have IS?

You can.  You just need a $2000 lens. :D

Why not shoot the same scenes with both cameras at the same time?

I almost always record audio externally.

Or use a green screen. :)

I don't think I can shoot with my GH4 handheld without some sort of stabilisation. 

Why does the FZ1000 look so much darker and greener?

What about people who don't live in the US? Cross border shipping is a pain. 

If the Sony could record for 90 minutes straight, it would be my first choice for archiving lectures and concerts.  For now, the GH4 will do fine.

Even if it was shot at 60p, I thought Vimeo would only show 30p max.

Looks like the a7T will be a perfect camera. :)

To my ears, it is too noisy. But then I did a lot of audio recording before I got into video. So I am very picky.

I also rented that lens and agree.  The 35-100 with fast AF and great OIS is a must have.  I need a couple more projects to swing it though. 

How good is the OIS on the 35-100?

Here are some shots with the Tiffen VND filter with  G X Vario 12-35mm at f/3.2 ss 60 on the GH4 except the last shot which is without filter and in slow motion at 96fps.  So you can see how the GH4 slow motion.  It's indeed a bit soft.
