  1. The 24fps frame rate just can't handle fast pans and it's a limitation of the medium either film or video but particularly video with non global shutters and the refresh rate of the screen you are viewing it on can add to the problem. Also when you are panning with a very wide lens you get extra movement at the edges of the frame due to the perspective distortion.
  2. I don't think any P4k owners (including me) think it's perfect but if you are waiting for a perfect camera then good luck with that...... BTW - Samsung 1TB T5 on Amazon at the moment for £189.99.
  3. You don't 'need' an IR filter but it just may help in certain situations. Cheap Vario ND's are junk even if some are better than others with regards to sharpness on longer focal lengths as only the very best ones have multi coatings which eliminate flare from the 4 air-glass surfaces. if you can't afford the top end B+W's with MC (which can be as much as a half descent lens) you are much better off with a set of fixed ND's where even cheaper ones have MC.
  4. I edit and grade in Resolve Studio but often find I have clips I can't get a satisfactory stabilisation result with it so have to export a clip to Premier and do it in WS which I always find does a more effective job. In what ways do you think Resolve is better?
  5. ISO is meaningless when comparing LOG to ready to use profiles. LOG at a base 3200 ISO and a ‘normal’ profile at base 100 ISO both require the same exposure in terms of shutter speed and aperture using and ETTR method. ISO is a leftover from photographic film practice and should have been binned years ago......
  6. Vignette is another filmic/cinematic look which in addition to IR pollution is just making this camera more an more attractive!
  7. Resolve’s stabilisation does a fast job but not as good as WS so this may be the right balance of speed vs quality.
  8. I like the IR pollution - it's more filmic and cinematic
  9. Slog doesn't have any more noise than the other profiles unless you expose it incorrectly. ISO comparisons between SLOG and say cine is meaningless as the method of measuring ISO is to measure a midtone which on SLOG is highly elevated due to the response curve of LOG. Try this yourself - set up a scene using ETTR i.e set the brightest part of the scene to just under zebra flashing at 105% then change between SLOG and a standard profile and the exposure settings via your Aperture or ND filter won't change even though your ISO will be vastly different.
  10. It has 'proper colors' to start with. The calibration that Atomos does in the factory is likley on a better device than the I1pro which is pretty basic as far as calibration devices go and you could well end up with worse colour afterwards. Just trying to save you money
  11. Better for what ? - are you using it as a grading monitor in post production?
  12. Why do you need to calibrate it?
  13. Isn't the truth now that all modern cameras produce very good images and the differences between them are more a matter of taste and style than of one being markedly better than another. The flaws I see in footage these days seem to come more from operator error in either the capture or the post production stages.
  14. It's fine when put in a good codec VIA the HDMI out.
  15. They both look like equally bad mobile phone footage. It's easy to make the better camera look like the worst one in the grade by crushing the blacks.
  16. I've got the Ninja V - it works well but has some issues with the zebra accuracy ( see my other post)
  17. I've got a problem with the Zebras on the Ninja V with the P4k. When I set the zebras to 100 or 105% they won't come on at all no matter how over exposed the image. When I set them to 95% they will start to show but in the waveform is way down at just over 80%. With zebras on the P4k set at 100% the waveform display on the Ninja hits 100% so the waveform is at least accurate. On the GH5 in V-LOG which peaks at 80% I have to set the Ninja zebras to 85% to match the internal zebras which is not too bad and again the waveform seems accurate. I've contacted Atomos about this and am awaiting a response.....
  18. That's true but the thick cable of the Atomos also puts additional strain on the connectors - you can't win!
  19. 5-7 1TB SSD's are going to cost a lot more than a Raid 0 setup but yes that's an option if costs are not a concern.
  20. This seems to work on my GH5 - Ninja V at 4k 60p 10bit https://www.cinegearpro.co.uk/products/came-tv-foot-ultra-thin-and-flexible-hdmi-cable-aa-european-warehouse1ft-2ft-3ft-6ft Big saving on the Atomflex Pro......
  21. 6-800gb projects are pretty small projects. At the moment for large amounts of data and fast read and write times RAID 0 is still a lot cheaper than SSD.
  22. I haven't had any issues with flare with my M2 and I would have noticed this.
  23. Low light can be a high or low DR situation so Slog can be appropriate as it has the highest DR. Mind you for 8bit internal it's not a good idea.
  24. What's the point in comparing a non focal reducer adapter with a focal reducer adapter? The Viltrox doesn't have any flocking on the internal surfaces ( just like the early version Metabones non focal reducer adapters) but it's a pretty easy job to add some.
