  1. I'm finally working on a short. It's a sequel to my 2012 short "The Ballad of Crazy Pete": Shot on the bmpcc.
  2. I suppose this will just be my own dedicated Pocket Camera test footage thread. I tried doing a Super 8 emulation this time: I shot this with my Computar 16mm f/1.6 lens, which cost me $6 and seemed to be the perfect shitty lo-fi lens choice for a super 8 look. I used my iSupr8 iPhone app for the grain/mask. I think it turned out okay, not perfect.
  3. I did a quick lighting/grading/fake s16 test:
  4. From a comment response by Noam Kroll on vimeo: "Not sure how global shutter would affect dynamic range as I only shot with rolling shutter" That surprised me for sure.
  5. It's called AnotherGUI. I found out about it from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcBHItw4niM It's great. Thanks. I have a half cage with locking screws over the hdmi and dc ports.
  6. I ended up regrading this video, and I found a free prores encoder for Windows, so I've re-uploaded it.
  7. Just got the camera yesterday, and I'm already in love. This is only a test. BMPCC/Prores 422/HQ/Rokinon 16mm & 10mm. Quick, dirty spontaneous footage/lighting/grading. This is only a test. https://vimeo.com/151484715
  8. I recently was looking for a new camera, and I, too, re-discovered a forgotten camera. It produces a truly analog, organic look. I got a Sony Handycam Pro Hi8 camera, with CCD sensor! and S-Video output! Just kidding, I got a BMPCC. Disclaimer: I'm not making fun of anyone, I just found that old broken camera buried in a box and couldn't resist the dumb joke.
  9. I'm selling some equipment so I can save for the Micro Camera. I also just got a good deal on a used SmallHD DP4, so I'm excited. I was going to buy the Pocket cam (used) to save a little money, but the Global Shutter of the Micro really seals it for me. I'm excited.
  10. I've tried adapting this lens with a regular M42 mount adapter, and it doesn't work. The only adapter I've found made specifically for that lens is this (expensive) one from ciecio7: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Krasnogorsk-camera-16mm-lens-meteor-to-Blackmagic-pocket-BMPC-GH3-GH4-adapter-/251444858498?hash=item3a8b480e82:g:zKgAAOxy63FS9AJn

I'm thinking of shooting in the ETC mode on my GX7. Does anyone have any experience using c-mount/16mm lenses in this mode? I tried the widest lens I own, the Rokinon 12mm, and it was pretty narrow (closer to a 50mm equivalent), so it's easily smaller than s16. I own the Meteor 17-69mm lens from my Krasnogorsk 3, and ciecio7 makes a pretty pricey MFT adapter for this lens, so I'm wondering if anyone has any experience using this lens with the GX7 or similar camera, and if anyone can recommend a wide lens for ETC mode.
  12. I always loved the DVX. I shot my first feature, and many shorts with the DVX. Even though it's SD, I was surprised by how well it held up when I was remastering my feature in 720p a couple years ago. It had a very natural look. I would have probably kept it if I didn't have to sell it for rent money a couple years ago.
  13. Nope, sold to a forum member.
  14. Camera is still available. I don't want to, but I'll probably take it to ebay if I don't get an offer here by Monday.
  15. I'm dropping the price to $1200 OBO, and including a 64GB Transcend UHS-1 speed class 3 SDXC card. I'll pay the shipping fee as well.
  16. What happened to Andrew Reid? All of the answers can be found here:
  17. It's a fantastic camera, but I could use some of the money toward getting an apartment with my girlfriend, and some of it toward a couple of additional lights. I looked back at stuff I shot on the GH1 and thought it still held up well, and I started to like the idea of trying to work harder to make my old camera sing. So, it's part "I need cash" and part "I already had a camera, I should add to my lighting kit and try and get better at that".
  18. Bought in February, barely used, includes all the original packaging and accessories, battery, software, etc. PM for more info. $1300 OBO. USA only, PayPal only.
  19. I liked it. The bad impression narration was a whimsical change of pace from what could be a normal, boring test.
  20. Thanks, guys. I shot Carte Blanche from February-March 2009, and there aren't indeed any criticisms I hadn't already heard or thought of myself, even before I finished it. I don't think it's very good, but I had fun making it, and it's like a time capsule of my life at that time. Most of the film is deadpan, with a mostly static camera because I was heavily into Jim Jarmusch at the time. I often think of what Scorsese said on the commentary track for his first film Who's That Knocking At My Door. I'm paraphrasing, but it was basically this: "Watching this film is like looking at my old high school yearbook photo." I've occasionally attempted to re-edit the film, but when I look at the footage and think of the story, I realize I can't edit out the adolescence, and I'm not the person I was when I made it.
  21. I appreciate people's advice, but what I'm saying is that I want to create films for the sake of art an expression, without an end game of distribution or "success" (which is a subjective term--completing a film is a success in and of itself) and I can see why it seems crazy. I thought it was crazy too until recently.
