  1. Nice! Yeah same here..Premiere's lumetri has a hue/saturation curve that works great.
  2. Looks good. But in the Eoshd pro color shots, it may just be me, but the boys face looks quite magenta or red. I have been having issues with overly red skintones on my a6500, i shoot with color phase at 0, but still get a lot of red, though other reds in the shot are accurately saturated. Not sure where the issue is. I don't necessarily mind it as having more saturation than less is ideal and works out in my coloring process.
  3. Well said, Andrew. I am sticking with you and agree very much with your views on Dpreview. I have always appreciated your opinion as the most honest and real of anyone else providing similar content to you. You have been my go to and deciding factor on many camera purchases. Keep up the great work and I will certainly be continuing to read.
  4. I feel like I am getting over saturated skin tones on my a6500 with the new settings compared to my a7rii which is able to use sgamut...it sucks they disabled color depth adjustments for sgamut. I notice skin tones maintain the right depth on the a7rii even with other heavily saturated things in the shot, but the a6500 seems to crank up saturation across all my skintones as well. Are there anymore tweaks intended for this profile?
  5. Could someone explain to me the whole no color depth thing on a6300/a6500? I am able to adjust my color depth in s gamut and sgamut3.cine. Is it just that it doesnt actually do anything? A little confused, because I would definitely prefer to use sgamut3.cine as its the latest Sony color science.
  6. @Andrew Reid Is there a suggested way we could use these pro color settings in conjunction with your cineflat profile you made to mimic slog2?
  7. ame in at Sat +25 as well for the S-log2. I guess the real differences in the faux A7RII S-Gamut vs S-Gamut3.Cine of the a6300 are not so subtle. He said its because he created the a6300 and a7s 2 profiles after the a7r2 ones so he had improved his workflow and found the +20 saturation helps a lot for retaining color info.
  8. @omen I just bought your a7r ii primers and they work amazingly! My one question is why you don't suggest a saturation boost on the a7r ii like you do above with the a6300? Wouldnt that help banding on the a7r ii as well? Thanks for any info you have!
  9. Still using my mark iii for color...I went back to it after having the a7s for a while. Still not convinced I could be as confident every time I shoot as I am with the 5d raw. I've never had one instance of bad color with it.
  10. I don't know how you can support ignorant spending. If you don't feel you should research your purchases to understand what you buying or that you are basically being robbed, then you certainly shouldn't mind being mocked for it..
  11. Thank you so much for this, Andrew. I would also like to thank all of you who are offended by this or upset by it...it makes this article all the more wonderful. Stay up on that high horse, Andrew!!
  12. Here is the thing...yes, you can get natural skin tones straight out of the camera with Canon, but you don't get even half the image quality you do with the Sony A7s in my opinion. Everything from color to detail is better to me. BUT, to me the A7s requires a willingness to correct the image a bit in post. It is tough to get the skin tones right, right out of the camera, and I feel none of the profiles are COMPLETLY designed to be straight out of the camera ready, other than the rec 709. I use S Log2 with S gamut color and there is absolutely a green cast at times, but it is SO SO quickly and easily removed in post. I think you should just stick with the 6d if you want a solid look right out of camera. The A7s needs a bit of tender love and care - but once you understand how to post process the A7s, it has the potential to look miles better than anything the 6d could ever achieve. All this is just my opinion though Its not really a black and white issue.
  13. I don't understand why people feel the need to post there redundant opinions about why they don't like the A7s, after it has been asked numerous times not to for the sake of the thread. There are MANY people achieving amazing results with this camera, and I believe this thread is meant for them, not you who can't and want to complain about it. The video by Wolfcrow is fantastic! Keep up the productive comments!
  14. BOOOO, NAAAAAY, NOOOOO! That camera is irrelevant now as far as Im concerned. Why did it become $500? Because they couldnt sell it well enough in a market flooded with BETTER, just as affordable cameras. I had that camera and sold it within 3 months of having it. The A7s is more expensive but for a reason..the price is relative to its feature set and is still cheap for what it offers in my opinion.
  15. I just can't agree with you in any way, for many reasons. I think the skin tones are great for internal 4k and just wait til that 10 bit 4k with the shogun. The price point is unbeatable also. So unbeatable that if you even want to dis the camera, dont, and just go spend 10 grand on another camera to fix your woes...oh wait.
  16. I was warned NOT to use the curve in camera, which I feel could be a big source of your issues. I have been using James Miller's settings with great results. CinelikeV con- -3 sharp- -5 sat. -5 and then turning pedestal up to + 15 with 0-255 luma
  17. Andrew, do you use any type IR filters with the sigma and bmpcc combo? I just picked up a Tiffen IRND 1.8 to start my kit, but was curious what you use?
  18. You can get a Canon 6d right now for roughly $1800 on ebay (though i got mine reburbished like new for a steal of $1400) and you can get the Mosaic VAF filter for $365..So for about $2200 you can be on the level of the 5d 3 minus RAW. That VAF really does kill moire. The 6d is a gorgeous camera and has an amazing picture easily as good as a 5d 3 out of the box. And once they get that RAW worked out through Magic Lantern, it'll be a beast! A few reviews even say it has better low light/high iso capability than the 5d 3. I understand there is no headphone jack and some other small issues (in my opinion)..but to each his own i guess.
