  2. Here is my first test and time shooting with Canon ENG B4 parfocal zoom with Kowa Inflight 1.75x. I even got creative with it's limitations. Most of the focal range does not vignette. The good news is you don't need a variable diopter, the bad news is that you need a large scope and it's duel focus. The Inflight has a 54mm rear. Having a larger scope you could use the whole focal range. GH4 - Cine V. More to come.

  4. I tried to find the one I got a few years back. I found a picture but not a link. It is very well made with a 55mm female thread from. Hello community, I have finally finished my new video "A Journey through the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge”, when you have 15 mins to spare and want to relax to some nature / lens porn, I love for you to check it out. On a good screen with sound ;) Filmed over 3 years with Baby Hypergonar 1.75x, Bolex 16/32 1.5x, Kowa C35 1.5x and Kowa Inflight 1.75x. Taking lens used were the Voigtländer 42.5mm f0.95, Voigtländer Color-Skoparex 28mm 2.8 , Olympus Zuiko Pen F 38mm f1.8, MeVis 35mm f1.8, Takumar 200mm f3.5, SMC Takumar 135mm f2.5 and the Zeiss Ultron 50mm f1.8. Edited in Adobe Premiere and colored with Colorista III and Film Convert. If you give me a screen grab of a shot you like I will tell you the combo. Bonus, of the 160+ shots 2 are not scope. A special shout out to John Barlow for his lovely Rectilux Hard Core DNA and 3FF-s which are all over this piece. Thanks.
  8. You will find guys in both camps to which is better. But both camps would also agree that 3k for this lens is stupid high. Spending about $2.5k ( $1.5k + 1k for a Hard Core DNA ) would give a Iscorama 36 a run for it's money. But you have the light weight of Iscorama and easier use of 72mm diopters vs 86mm diopters for extreme close ups.
  9. It slows you down because your messing with H264, which is always a night mare. I can't edit at all with H264 or computer crashes. I dump out 5k Pro Res and everything works great. If you are doing music video or something small I would transcode. Feature or documentary maybe not.
  10. I do it in my work flow. I shoot GH4 4:3 4k with 1.75x and stretch to 5k 2.35:1 - 5120x2179. I then build a dailies sequence and do a media management transcoding to Pro Res or go clip by clip adding an in and out. I export out 5k Pro Res and then edit and finish on a 4k timeline 3840x2160. I have a Mac Book Pro from 2012 and it works like a charm. I do allot of nature films and do it this way so I have a collection of 5k pro res footage.
  11. No dumb questions. You can attach via a custom coupler made from a lens hood if you have a front threaded adapter filter ring from Redstan or Rapidio. Otherwise you will need to get the HCDNA machined to slip the Kowa C35 in the back. Not machined, a 35mm was the widest I could go. Machined, a 28mm is the widest I could go.
  12. Thanks. This video shows the difference in crop. So I guess you get wider with native lens that were designed specifically for MFT.
  13. I wanted to ask those who have the GH5 and who have owned the GH4. Does C-mount glass still work on the GH5 being it's crop factor is so much wider? Also if you have the Voigtlander 25mm or 17.5mm, is it that much wider on the GH5 and has no vignetting? Thanks.
  14. Unfortunately I have never owned an Iscorama 36. The Bolex is sharper and then the Kowa C35 is sharper then that. Isco with warm flares and Bolex with purple and blue and Kowa has blue and magenta. All are good for different projects. There is no perfect lens, which is why most people have multiple. Cooke? Hard to let them go. Your set up looks like it's easy to use and provides a lovely filmic looking image on a digital camera. What else could you want
  15. I thought you really dug the Bolex. Now that you have the Iscorama, what do you think? You also did not have a Hard Core DNA with the Bolex correct?
  16. Also, you could get a Kowa C35 and Hard Core DNA for 2k vs the 3k + for the other. I do think it's nice that the Iscorama is a mechanically solid and produces a lovely image but I don't think it's worth an extra 1k or more. If I had one and I payed 3k for it I would vote for it as well. They are lovely.
