  1. I actually figured out an easy way to get rid of the blue splotches. I isolated the low frequencies (the low blacks) and then desaturated. It removes all of the splotches. Then I continue with regular noise removal. It seems to work well.   Thanks for the ideas...
  2. Has anyone figured out a good way to remove video noise? I am not talking the removing grain, I mean the repetitive noise for example that the RX100 displays when shot at high ISO. In this case it comes out as blue splotches... I have tried neat video, but I can't seem to find good settings.   Any help would be appreciated...
  3. Can you guys post a video showing the banding? I would like to see what you are talking about please...
  4. Yes this what I meant (with less explanation and I shouldn't have said extra frames... I should have said recreate). Thanks.
  5. I think he means using twixtor to create the extra frames when dropping to get to 24p...
  6. Love the vid! It's really hard to tell which ones are the RX100. Some of the shots do stick out and don't blend as well as the others. Not sure if it's the RX100. What were the other cams?
  7. I find that the best technique is to drop frames in most cases. Frame blending looks really bad to my eyes...
  8. If you download the source there is barely any aliasing. It is only bad in sd.
  9. Thanks, I'll keep looking...
  10. Thanks for the suggestion. Man that thing looks as big as the camera and lens :(   I wish they made a VF that had optics to reduce the length so it would be more compact!
  11. Ya, I was thinking about that. I guess I was hoping for something with a smaller form factor. Loupes tend to be larger than the camera. Has anyone used one with the RX100 that worked out well?
  12. I saw that, but I can't seem to set it when I am in video mode. I assume it's because I am not shooting in jpg. I would assume that the NR doesn't happen in video mode based on that, but I could be wrong. I would have to do some tests. Did you notice that it was doign NR in movie mode?
  13. Interesting!   I didn't realize that you can set NR in video mode. Where is that setting?
  14. I am looking for a small form factor view finder for my RX100 to use when manually focusing in bright daylight. Any good suggestions out there? Obviously I want something small.
  15. I wish that was possible, but I have never found a way to do that. I also wish we could somehow punch in zoom right before shooting a clip, but that is only possible on the other (non film) modes unfortunately.
  16. Yes I was looking at 24 mbps in 30p deinterlaced. I recorded a tree with high detail and compared 60p vs 30p and the 60p looked better and less artifacts. That's interesting that you say that every other frame looks more compressed. I'll have to do some more tests!
  17. That's strange, I did a bunch of tests and 60p always looked cleaner and had less compression artifacts than 30p. I know this doesn't sound right, but my tests showed otherwise. I also tried twixtor, but to me it still looked better dropping frames.
  18. Interpolation looks really bad imo. Dropping frames looks much better, but still not perfect.
  19. I don't find that 24p with dropped frames looks too bad (not amazing, but not bad), but it would be so much easier to just have true 24p. The biggest problem is trying to add the footage to other sources that are 24p. Otherwise I would just leave the projects as 30p, which in my opinion looks fine with a slow shutter speed.
