  1. The 1080p looks so much better, but the 720p is usable I guess. I see 720p shots from the 5d Mark II and III that looks a lot better to my eyes.
  2. Check out simeonpilgrim's site. I haven't tested out any complex scenes yet, but I can report back later.
  3. Just did it thanks! Seems to work well!
  4. Did you use the Beta or the 1.01 patch?
  5. Hey terozzz Three questions: 1) Does the camera playback files in 40mbps mode? 2) Does the hack make 720p mode a higher bitrate as well? 3) Can you go back to Nikon's initial firmware? Thanks in advance!
  6. Confirmed, it does have that option.
  7. Great! Do you see any other improvements? The D5200 picks up detail already really well. Does it get any better?
  8. Thanks for posting. Do you have card failures when the bitrate is high?
  9. That's what I was thinking. I know that on the GH1 there is no banding difference before or after the hack. What does the bitrate increase help with since the D5200 doesn't have mud. I am not asking to be a jerk, just wondering if there is anything that is better with the bitrate increase?
  10. Do you have any examples that you can post of before and after? I would love to see them if so. I didn't think that a higher bitrate would get rid of banding?
  11. I am not sure if the detail is lost in the compressioin, but it looks pretty bad to me. Lot's of detail is lost in these shots. Then again the GH2 shots don't look that great either so maybe it got lost in the final render...?
  12. Wow guys, thanks so much for all of the positive responses! It really means a lot to me. I love making these videos, but it also nice to hear that other people like to watch them. Especially people with talent like you from this forum! Ebrahim, Egypt is such a wonderful place to visit. The people and the culture is so wonderful. I honestly had a hard time capturing bad frames there.
  13. Thanks a lot for the kind words! I didn't use any rigs, just handheld. I shot all of this with a sigma 30mm f1.4 on the Nikon cameras and a 14-140mm on the GH1. I got better at shooting handheld after all of these years, but I did recently pick up a Tamron 17-50 f2.8 which is stabilized.
  14. Hey, I would love it if you would get the chance to check out a new video that I made. It compiles footage taken of journeys through 8 different countries. It's called "Anywhere, but here" and was shot mostly with a D5200 and GH1 and includes some RX100.
  15. The colours on the Nikons are fantastic. Most of the shots on this are from the D5200 Vesku
  16. That is fantastic! I really hope that they can bring this to the D5200!
  17. Simeon released an alpha patch for the D5200: https://nikonhacker.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1801 It has not been tested yet, does anyone feel like some risk in their lives? I will probably do it, but I have a couple of shoots that I need to get out of the way first...
  18. I thought that I read that the sensor changed...?
  19. Why didn't they enable IS during video recording is beyond me.
  20. Thanks, it was weird to say the least!
  21. Thanks! Me too, it is my favourite camera so far.
  22.   tomekk, it is meant to be taken lightly. This is something that I did for fun. If you don't want to watch, then you don't have to.
  23. I have been shooting with the D5200 since the summer and I absolutely love the video quality... Here is something I shot. Let me know if you have any questions or comments!     https://vimeo.com/75787932
