  1. When and where can you pre-order a KineRAW MINI anyway?
  2. I was 10 seconds away from pre-ordering the pocket cam (available for pre-order at B&H) but have decided not to drop the money onto it.   I think both of them are amazing, but specifically talking about just the pocket cam for my needs at the moment I don't think I'll buy one (yet anyway) they lack 60fps and while that takes nothing away from what they can do I like to shoot at 60fps lol and mixing cameras (GH3 + Pocket cam) isn't something I want to do right now so I'll just stick with my GH3 (which is still excellent, I love it) and hold off on the pocket cam for now. I may look into it again and will definitely be looking at the other versions in the future.   Pocket cam with EVF next year? Calling it now lolol.
  3. Black Magic are an Australian company right? Doing Australia proud lel, but seriously we have some of the worst retail services ever.. I have absolutely no idea where I'd even be able to pre order the pocket camera unless I import.. It would be amazing if it had both PAL and NTSC frame rates (global cam).... Does anyone know if the original BMCC was a global cam?
  4. Canon won't revise their prices.. For one they are still 99.9% all about photography which Canon/Nikon have a stranglehold of, photographers interested in video will still buy Canons out of convenience, I can see a C100 price drop in the near future but nothing in terms of DSLRs since they'd still sell perfectly fine as solely photographic tools.   Soccer mums aren't going to stop buying Rabals just because Blackmagic makes better cameras for video.
  5. I'v bonded with my GH3.. But this little cam looks amazing, on the fence about pre-ordering one. I will probably pre-order as soon as it becomes available and hang onto my GH3 until it arrives, once it does I can see how they compare. It really does seem pretty amazing though.
  6. Where can I pre-order the pocket version?
  7. Holy crap I am definitely placing a pre-order on that pocket cam.. Active m4/3 mount so my m4/3 glass will work + speed booster compatible for other glass.. I'll place a pre-order and compare it to my GH3 and see what happens.
  8. Can we get rid of the "Blog Comments" in the thread titles?.....
  9. I'm still learning CS6, I'm playing around with Ultra Key Chroma Key, there is a small logo in the shirts the guys are wearing that contains green.. What would be the best way to stop the Chroma Key selecting it?   Pic related, they don't move from this spot I just need it to stop selecting that small part of the shirt logo.
  10. Seems like Vincent will also be doing something with Technicolor? According to his blog Technicolor are making the Technicolor event at NAB exclusive to Laforet's blog readers.   May or may not be a clue as to what the "game changer" is, I suppose it doesn't necessarily have to be linked with Technicolor making their event exclusive to his blog readers.. Maybe the "game changer" he refers to is completely unrelated to the Technicolor stuff, or maybe Technicolor is going to release some sort of physical product that you can purchase that would help with color grading/correction?    He mentions in the original post that OP linked that the "DEVICE" (interesting word?) wouldn't be as affordable as the 5D2 was, he also writes "but once you understand what it does, you’ll see it will pay for itself in days relative to what other things it replaces and how it can fundamentally change the way you shoot." Which is interesting because if it was some sort of device that you could attach to your camera to help with color correction/grading which helped to greatly reduce your time in post would not only pay for itself but also change the way you shoot which covers pretty much everything he says about it.   I can't think of anything that would attach to your camera that would help with color and cost more than a few thousand dollars.. It would have to be some sort of monitor? Or something that helps capture footage? idunolel

    GH3 short film

I liked it much better than Genesis.. Really great work. Curious what photo style and custom settings did you use?

    Audio + 60fps help

I only want certain parts slowed down, the rest I just want to play at regular speed. I shot at 60fps, 1/125 and the footage looks good, I tried just slowing the playback time in premiere and it looked good.. If I shoot the interview at 30 or 24 and make that my timeline setting all the 60fps footage will be slowmotion which I don't want. Originally I wasn't going to be doing interviews just footage of the event so I decided to shoot everything at 60fps so that I didn't have to keep changing the fps, it's sport so something really cool that could be put into slowmotion cold happen at anytime.
  13. I prefer the GH3 footage, I use one though maybe that's why.. Or is it?   The D7100 footage looks really soft, and while I agree that the GH3 footage can look "too sharp" (Is that really even a thing?).. I also don't like my footage to look like that which is why I shoot at -4 sharpness which still looks great and I'd stay would still be crisper than the D7100 footage.   I think the GH3 has better DR too, maybe I'm wrong but if you look at the brightest part of the water in the second shot it looks to me that the Gh3 is definitely capturing more detail than the D7100.   I also prefer the colors from the GH3, however I'v never liked Nikon colors.. When I was doing photography before I got into video I ended up selling my 5D2 and bought a D700 for the job I had working with another photographer using Nikon gear, using the same gear just made it a lot easier (I was second shooter so it made more sense for me to change, plus I wasn't as heavily invested in the system) The D700 was an excellent camera, I loved everything about it EXCEPT the colors.. I don't know what it is I just prefer colors from Canons and I think the Panasonic is a lot closer to a Canon than it is to a Nikon (vivid mode jpgs from Lumix cameras look very close to RAWs from my old 5D2, 5D2 always had deep and rich colors) this part is just preference though, some people prefer Nikon colors. As soon as I stopped working with that photographer I went back to Canon that's how much I hated the Nikon colors lol.

    Audio + 60fps help

I'v been filming a sporting event for the past week, originally my goal was just to get some good shots for a showreel however it has turned into something more. When I began I decided to shoot everything at 60fps since it would allow me to slow a clip down if I wanted too and I could just shoot at 60fps the whole time.   Now I'v been asked to do some short interviews with a Zoom H4n for audio, will audio recorded onto a Zoom H4n sync the same to 60fps footage as it would to 24, 25, 30fps etc as long as the timeline the video is playing on is the same as what the footage was shot at?   I mean if I shoot the video at 60fps and my timeline is set to 60fps then audio should still sync the same from the Zoom or is that wrong? Normally I'd just test it all out however I have to film tomorrow morning, I have to pick a mic + the zoom up (I am also unfamiliar with the Zoom) and I have to sync audio since I won't have time to get what I'd need to plug the zoom directly into my GH3.....   Instead I have to plug the mic into the Zoom XLR, record the audio seperate to my footage (which I plan to shoot at 60fps) and pray that it will sync ok..... Unless I get an answer from someone here that knows it won't I have to just try it and hope it works. THANKS.
  15. Why are posts/threads getting deleted? Never seen it happen before and it's happened twice in the last 2 days.
  16. I shot some footage with my GH3 at a big surfing event that is held locally every year, the footage looks great straight out of the camera however it was a very overcast day and I'd like to add some saturation.   That got me thinking about a few things, what's the best way to add saturation to my footage? Because it was very overcast the waves looks very grey and dull, I'd like to maybe add a little saturation to the whole thing but I'd also like to saturate blues if that's possible (how would I do that?)   I shot at -4 sharpness and it looks good to my eye but I am not as experienced as others, if I did need to sharpen it what way should I do it? There are several sharpening options.. Which one should I be using?   Same goes for contrast though this is probably the last thing I think it needs, the contrast looks fairly good to me but if I ever did need too add some contrast what's a good way to do it?   Anything else I should think about when color correcting? Thanks.
  17. I would love to see Panasonic do something like the Canon Cinema line of cameras, maybe starting the the "GHX" and move upwards? I'd love to see m4/3 get to that sort of level.
  18. Sounds great, even after just purchasing the GH3 which I am extremely happy with this would be great to see. I hope it's still m4/3 (with all the work they are putting into new high end m4/3 lenses I wouldn't doubt it) and like you put in the post it not only gives GH3 owners confidence to invest more into Panasonic lenses/accessories it HOPEFULLY shows that they are willing to push m4/3 further into a higher end market which is good for everyone.   Out of curiosity though, how could they make the GH3 or GH-X more like the 5D3? It already has a full magnesium alloy body and full weather sealing. I used to own a 5D3, to me the GH3 just feels like a mini one of those.
