  1. True, for what it is it isn't expensive. I just can't justify buying an external recorder for my use that's more expensive than the camera. But well, even the GH4 is overkill for me as is :)
  2. The EVF is great. Much better than the GX7 (no tearing).
  3. True.. but if I'd shoot with the GH4 I'd probably go for internal 4K over 1080p 10 bit. But maybe some tests with 1080p 10 bit footage vs downscaled 4K can convince me :) Would be nice to see cheap 4K hdmi recorders. Maybe next year! BTW, how much does a decent size CFast card cost? I can only find 4GB to 16GB, for €60 to €170.... :o Wonder why they couldn't have opted for SDXC UHS 3...
  4. I also really like the Ninja Star, but it doesn't record 4K, right?
  5. Pretty much. Some small differences in materials used on the A7/A7R. Size/screen/buttons are the same.
  6. Windows version? ;) I'd give that a try for sure. Getting my hands on a GH4 v 1.0 in a few days...
  7. More info (based on press release) http://www.digifotopro.nl/content/preview-sony-a7s-12-megapixels-iso-409600-en-4k-hdmi-output It's in Dutch, but Google Translate will work.
  8. Your source is wrong on the ISO 80.000... price won't be announced. Mark my words ;)
  9. Doesn't look like fungus. More like dust spots or blemishes on the front element.
  10. It could even be the same source... if SAR just copy pasted your info, he would have mentioned the 4230 x 2820 pixel size. XAVC-S is kind of obvious anyway. I don't see anything 'verbatim' on SAR that was written here in the same words... No need to get paranoid. Sunday it'll be all over anyway :)
  11. Sounds like something that got 'lost in translation'. I don't see how SAR copied your info btw...
  12. Well, you failed. I find people why try to sell stuff with such a markup in a small community of enthusiasts very annoying.
  13. They could let the pro's test it before the announcement imo :) I agree their marketing campaign is good (on the other hand, it's a product that speaks for itself, especially if there is no competition). Just image if it was launched in march, a month after the announcement. Panasonic would have sold it to all the early 4K adaptors. Now with a competitor on the horizon, people actually will have a choice. Of course, this all depends on what kind of product this A7S will be. I'm guessing it won't have the same kind of codecs as the GH4. But still, the FS100 is still highly regarded, right? Even with it's low bitrate. Also, look at the huge crows that are filming with inferior Canon dslr's versus the small amount of people using Panasonic (GH2/GH3/G6) that's much better for the same price or less... It's not always the best product that wins. A lot of photographers are fixated on full frame. If you have a ton of full frame glass, an A7S might be a more obvious choice than a GH4. Anyway, competition is great. Very curious what Sony will bring.
  14. Poor Panasonic... They should have tried to release it earlier. Too much time between announcement and shipment. If Sony drops this bomb now (and releases it soon), this might seriously hurt GH4 sales... If the A7S is a 4K A7, we definitely can't stop comparing it to the GH4 because it would actually be the first direct competitor to the GH4. Even though their sensor size is different.
  15. True. So what would you use to record externally, for cheap?
  16. (1920 / 1280) x 1.43 = 2,145 aspect ratio. You have to specify a focal lengt too I suppose. If you'd use a 50mm, that'd be 50 / 1.43 = 35mm.
  17. Not really a fan of buying accessoires with a proprietary connection like this. But at least it's cheap...
  18. Great news. Sounds like a perfect cheap solution for both audio stills and video. Im very tempted to buy this and wait for 4K to become mainstream. Shame it has no mic input... what would be the easiest/cheapest solution for external audio? Something like a zoom recorder and then sync it with the internal audio?
  19. Yeah, but compared to the amount of stores where you can get/order a Blackmagic, it's nothing...
  20. Yikes. The faster the read out speed of the sensor, the less rolling shutter. Maybe it is _because_ of the fact that it is reading out the whole sensor, that it is so bad? Read out while pixel binning or line skipping maybe works faster than reading out all the pixels?
  21. Would help if they were actually available in Europe/USA, and if they did some marketing/support in those regions. Right now if you want to know something about those camera's you have to read it on EOSHD, instead of finding it on their own website. Right now I can't even reach the website. This kinda makes me feel they aren't really interested in those markets, probably they can sell enough in China for now anyway. They seem to have the product to make a big worldwide boom, maybe not the manpower/production capability. Anyway, 6K raw must be hell to work with. Even at 2:1 compression, what kinda datarates are we talking here? At least 225MB/s = 13GB/minute I suppose?
  22. Nope. Thats the 85mm 1.4 ($300 ish). This 85mm 1.8 is much cheaper. This video says it might be for aps-c only but I can't find anything that proves it.
