@PannySVHS@BTM_Pix Yeah I guess we have to be fairly eclectic to let that horses for courses adage comply the multi purpose aim we have to handle these days in a never ending complex industry and distinct assignments for a myriad of departments or market segments nowadays. So, one doesn't exclude the other as people are used to believe : ) There's more mere obsolete obsolescence instead rather than the common meaning coupled to the concept itself, as we tend to see it connected with this word. Many different tasks and applications for much real realms which require such learning curve. The older the better sometimes applies. Not all the time all the way, okay, but a few times enough to make it somehow usable at a certain point of the road. To match it with the most modern technology available no less. That's a balance. This balance is the key, far to be the tools per se to rule the world or I even dare to claim they never are ; ) Hence human always beats the instrumental portion of the equation, no doubt. This is the whole trouble, people often forget it. This craft is a bit more complicated and challenging but doesn't break the aforesaid rule either. No specs to trump :- )

Pure buzz effect, keep the hype up! I wouldn't mind to have one for sure : P just no need to pay $5K for ; ) I don't think they have sent it to the market believing it will become a best seller... : D It's not dumping LOL of course, but sorta flagship. I hint they only intend to tell the world they are alive and kicking. In the meantime, people cannot have much room to announce the death of the format, I guess. As we've heard so many times before, isn't it? Retro bet on such postmodernist attitude doesn't hurt either and inflates the cult. I don't think it is a nonsensical release, on the opposite IMHO. It simply won't change our life, that's for sure! ;- )

Yes, it's insane (it should be something under one ground at least if not less) but brings some bright focus (and value) on those vintage lying around just for a few bucks which can be used as specialty capture devices on certain movie projects even straight to the digital age we all live in : ) I wish to see the format alive in any way whatsoever. More labs to offer lower prices for their services are always welcome! :- )

There is a Philippines-based channel on YT used to post walks in the same sorta red light district (serves as disclaimer) in a daily basis where it is possible to find the power of that, coupled to the low light performance of this thing:

On the spot, my friend : ) Reminds me some very recent conversation I had with a customer found online willing to buy both units of a Zenfone 7 Pro I have for sale. The man wanted I could accept some Flip model as trade-in only because it was a newer release and allowed the last Android updates. Struggling to figure out why I don't give a damn. Stuck on phone specs like they could tell me anything sorta my dick is bigger than yours, the year release of the thing, oh God, had the need to be patient... I had to tell him: "Don't piss me off, don't underestimate decades to learn what a device is, part of a whole craft, mine for the record!"

Looks like pretty neat even though I concur NDs would take away that fast shutter look off, doesn't bother me after all with that non-stop score backing it and that adopted colourful style of editing the stuff shot: Have you already thought how much we would all praise those colours just a few years ago coming from such so small device with a monitor all included? The point is now everyone can live a cinematic life from their daily sunny or rainy days as much as when 8mm popped up some quarters of century ago with the difference to be weatherproof/waterproof and definitely much more handy to look like a pro today... They make perfect stars with/from common people on bits & bytes... Food for thought, it's the dream come true of the Italian neo-realism on cheap side and... long life to the democratization of this medium! (so, let's stop to be picky and praise the momentum of nowadays! ; )

Marty, it's a democratic piazza, they choose those thumbnails and we have to deal with the times we live in : ) Here's one from the capital of my country more exactly the neighbourhood where I lived 25 years ago along those years in the first academic year at the film school and it's a bit curious now to the eyes of people used to dream on digital prelude to come by then: Hope the thumbnail may adjust the taste of everyone but much wider this time... : D

Me too, but the versatility of a Z8 2-in-1 is much more shooter friendly than that brick, at least to my pleasure and my back... : D If external power is the way to go when you need extra recording time, I don't see it as a troublemaker anymore in any way whatsoever, isn't it? It's all about that, the million-dollar question to firmly get the right answer for the subject matter. What surprises me is no one has guaranteed it or even addressed the topic so far in a proper way. When this is the main point to clarify over the most interesting capture device nowadays. That is, we have tests for everything, except for this one, at least those to be able to fulfill the cup. It's annoying to follow such those incomplete ones. They test 8K 24p, they forget to test 8K 60p but the camera is able to... C'mon *sigh*

I am very emotional, I don't like to take anything from someone's else except mine! LOL ; ) So, renting is not my cup of tea at all... Without mention I don't even have much time to sleep... Imagine now to handle from wherever else outside the place I am right now, let alone all the resources for. Time is very consuming and costs money. Yet, I am not in London, LA or NY as of now. But I have to balance the time very carefully to not fail with a few payrollsssss... ; ) It's plainly enough when we have some shooting going on and we really need it but then we have a budget allocated for. What external power as for instance? :- )

Any details on their setup and findings? Really interested to know...

What sources you have?

What cell phone BTW? No hate for GoPro, I love their yearly updates and market value -- the easiest camera I've ever had the chance to resell it, so why should I? TBH much easier than Insta360! I am talking from my real experience with : ) Yeah, Osmo Pocket 3 is my fav on small size but one brings some complement to each other (go with Osmo as action device and will become a crash cam all of a sudden : D) so I don't think we'd rather pull the trigger on the Hero 12 over the Ace Pro because no matter how much we can complain on 8-bit, the results are out there and they speak volumes on plain real world, that's what counts in the end ; ) Why only high shutter speeds? Not manual exposure there?
