  1. Agree with you. Just looking at the c300 MkIII, which is even more interesting in my opinion than its big brother c500 mkII, with the no cropped high framerates, the incredible dual gain output, new sensor technolgy... Aside from the difference in sensor size and resolution, c300 is not crippled in any way, so much that on c500 users FB groups it makes people kind of upset. Canon made up their mind in 2020.
  2. I was curious too as I've tested ProRes raw on Premiere Pro beta, and didn't find any ISO or WB setting, like i was used to on other raw format. So i asked in a group in FB and somebody replied me this : "The reason you had to change those settings in older raw formats is because they were metadata contained in a sidecar file, referencing a folder of still frames for each clip. ProRes RAW is a single file with all the metadata contained inside it. So you adjust it using the same color controls as a regular video clip; like how you would for a raw still in Lightroom." To me it makes sense, anybody can confirm this?
  3. R6 will have my attention... I'll stick with my beloved S1H for now... The ProRes Raw firmware will help me wait on more infos to make any decision... Beautiful times to be a filmmaker (but strange times overall with this health crisis and lock down)...
  4. I honestly don't have a lot of faith in Canon for having a great dynamic range. They were always behind in sensor tech in their stills camera, even though their Cinema EOS line are quite good at it.
  5. I think a lot of promos are bad, I'd say 7 times out of 10. Every new camera that is released comes with a cheesy video with uninteresting story. Those two are not bad, but not awesome. i'd wait to see the full short from Sherif Mokbel though.
  6. Oh my god they made everything right this time. i'm just waiting for the dynamic range improvement over my Canon EOS R (not difficult) and if it comes close to my S1h, I might pull the trigger 😉
  7. Actually I think there are only a few shots in ProRes RAW. But you have this video that was shot entirely in ProRes RAW : This one too (just a trailer shot bu Sherif Mokbel) :
  8. Where did people see the IBIS thing is real internal sensor based stabilization? Because to me it seems it is more of an electronic satbilization + lens stabilization than real ibis. Look this frame from the video posted above, doesn't seem to be real sensor shift IBIS, but lens based + ES...
  9. You just can't leave us with this! Also no panasonic conference planned AFAIK...
  10. So finally they talked about the R5. I think that they are very aware of the powerful tool they are about to unleash, so they go all out in teasing us. Which is a bit annoying... I'd love to know the price and release date ! And also the DR in video ! If they improved on DR and the price is not insane, I'll sell my EOS R and S1H to have the perfect all around tool for my needs !
  11. Of course it's easy to spot the difference. My post aimed at demonstrating how big of a difference there is between the Canon eos R and Panasonic S1H sensors. Canon really need to up its game regarding sensors and dynamic range.
  12. I feel the same. The Sony FX9 may be a very good camera, but I really think it can not be compared to the C500 mkII that is in the upper category for me. Sony FX9 is more comparable to the C300 line, and especially the next iteration of it that will be unveiled on monday.
  13. Obviously Canon made improvements, they couldn't be as bad as they were. Just look at this quick test I made between my two camera bodies (Canon EOS R and Panasonic S1H). Same settings (except I had to put iso 400 on eos r and iso 640 in S1h as I was shooting Log and compensate with aperture), same scene, 30 seconds apart. Guess wich is wich. Easy to spot the bad highlights handling right? 😅 So much room in the highlights with the S1H compared to the Canon EOS R !! I really hope the R5 (or R6) would do better than this cause I'm very interested in it. DR will be the main selling point for me as I know the AF, the colors, the handling would be great. I just want improved DR and maybe I'd consider it over my S1H for video, to complement my EOS R wich serves me so well for stills.
  14. They later said in Spring. Should be close to release... Next two months if nothing goes wrong.
  15. Oh I didn't know that... I'm lucky then (Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti) 🙂
  16. Nope, according to Canon Rumors, which is one of the most reliable rumors source if not the most, Canon will stick to its plans on releasing infos and press conferences even though the Covid19 thing kind of mess it up. And they wanted to announce it in late April/May apparently so it appears to be the right moment on April 20th.
  17. You need to download the beta version of Premiere Pro to use the ProRes RAW files. Open your Adobe Creative Cloud app and it will be on the left column. For now Premiere only support the exposition changes for the RAW files, neither the ISOS, WB or highlights/lowlights can be changed. Little to no advantage to use ProRes RAW for now. Resolve RAW development module has always been my favorite, hope it will support it too !
  18. https://www.canonrumors.com/canon-u-s-a-to-host-virtual-press-conference-for-new-professional-imaging-products-and-technologies/ Virtual press conference from Canon HQ planned on April 20th. Should be related to "professional products", so eos C300 mkIII and hopefully the latest details about the R5. Really hope it's the day the Canon eos R5 will be officially announced (with all the specs, release date and price) !
  19. I tried with those files : https://filmplusgear.com/prores-raw-testfiles-for-download-nab-2018/
  20. For now it doesn't work in Premiere Pro for me...
  21. Definitely what i'm waiting for as i'm primarily a windows based Resolve editor. My S1H and Atomos are ready for this 😬 Still have Premiere for certain clients that have the full Adobe CC workflow, but i'd love Resolve to support it asap.
  22. So i unchecked the GPU decoding for H265 and it seems to play a little bit faster the RAW file. Both checked and unchecked it runs smoothly, but it takes a couple seconds with the GPU decoding (for h265, strange that it affects the way it runs the RAW file too). The h265 file runs flawlessly in each scenario. I have a 4K DCI timeline. When running continuously the RAW file, my cpu is around 45% and gpu around 35%.
  23. How does the Mac Pro doesn't handle the 10bit files? I don't understand this, my computer can handle this and I don't have a MacPro ?!
