2013 is going to be an interesting year for the cheap shooters :)

 

Nikon is off with a good start. I expect more with the same/similar sensor (D7000 successor).

 

Sony will have a new 20 megapixelsensor with supposedly better dynamic range. First in the A58 (not so interesting), but probably later in NEX-camera's as well.

 

Canon definitely has to come with a new sensor. No way they can recycle this ancient 18 megapixel chip again... I'm curious what a new Canon-sensor would bring though. They have too much of their own offerings to protect as well...

 

Anyway, before buying any aps-c dslr for video, right now I'd wait until all the big players have come up with their new sensor. I'd say first half of 2013 we've seen most of the new chips. Unless you need something right now off course.

 

 

Honestly I have no hope for Sony AND Canon to ever release a cheap DSLR with anything near the GH3 and Nikon D5200 in terms of resolution. They have the big cams to protect, Nikon does not.

What I'd like to know is if this Nikon has full video exposure control like the Canons and if I can switch PAL/NTSC in camera.

 

If the bitrate was higher I would buy it right away, the night shots resolution is really impressive. But 60fps at 24mbps??

The D5200 looks less real to me, the typical DSRL-look even though details seem on pair.

Everytime there's something good in terms of resolution there's always something that destroys it. I bet more will come out along with the low bitrate.

Besides all the technical facts to MY EYES the GH3 looks less detailed and aliased aka gotten worse! The GH2 was a monster.

I'm afraid you are right. After watching the bearded man comparison the GH3 aliasing is just horrible! What happened to Panasonic???

I see a really strange artifact on that footage. a "fuzzy" effect :| Seems aliasing..

Some night scenes look soft. Is it noise reduction? 4/3 still can't beat aps-c low light performance can it?

That could be an seconding/editing problem before the upload. I doubt it is THAT bad.

I'm watching more and more videos and keep standing by what I said. Resolution is just awful!
WHy can't Panasonic just make a full frame GH3 and destroy all these bullshitters at once? :D

From these first samples (yeah yotube, heavily compressed bla bla) I can say that the a99 and vg900 carry the same OLD DSLR look! Soft and fake 1080p, I'm so sick of this. Panasonic still remains the only one delivering a real 1080p detail! Next (year)!

Is this better in low light than the GH2? having less MP even if the sensor is smaller?

I honestly can't wait for the comparisons :D

It almost hurts my eyes watching the sharpenedd 1dx footage. Because it's sharpness not actual detail

Couldn't agree more, this screams "VG20" in every way. It will 99% have the fake 1080p quality carried with all the Sony DSRLs

One question here that I have to ask... what is the point of all this troubles if the NEX cameras have basically the same res and moiré problems as the Canons? I mean the bitrate won't change how the processor works. Made sense for the GH2 but not now. Am I missing something?

I'll tell you what will actually destroy everyone. A GH3 with a bigger sensor and the same mount. Unbeatable quality and every single lens in the world usable!

Canon will never respond

Why can't they never do it for the "cheap"? Why not a low cost aps-c camera like the gh2 that costs less than $1k? This will cost more than the 5d i feel!
