how is it possible that we're all waiting (i hope) original 1080p footage and the only things available are one high compressed 720p short, this high iso file and 960x540 videos from canon!! Are they doing this on purpose??
Still not convinced they fixed the res problem!

I need real samples not this compressed sh*t because at first look I don't see anything extraordinary. At the end of Mario Nette I see moiré on the rocky ground

It does for sure but it doesn't come close to the GH2, that's the problem. If Canon will give a NEX 5N like video (90%) I'm going to be disappointed (not that I didn't expect it). If only the GH2 had a larger sensor and be on par on the pictures side with Canon why would someone buy anything other than the GH2? :D

Unfortunately I think Canon will follow suit with this trend of not stepping up the video quality. Remember they now have the C300 and later this year they will release a 4k cinema dslr.
I don't think the 5Dmk3 will be a big step in improvement video-wise. Maybe a little bit less moire/aliasing and jello, but that's it.
I really hope to be wrong, but I got a feeling we will all be disappointed...  :'(
Maybe Panasonic should release a super 35 chip camera too...  ::)

guys the D4 is on par with the 5d. it screams "soft video" at first look and apparently from other videos it has the worst aliasing I've seen

Why doesn't that apply to Panasonic?

What I've said. Combination of patent agreement and Japanese protectionism. Sort of like we help you make your sensor for your camera, doesnt have to be this camera but for that camera so long as you cripple the video on your flagship camera we don't mind you having clean HDMI out. Japanese don't like losing face and Canon is not about to either.

The only consolation is that the c300 is not that cheap like the fs100 so it would not be"fair" to Canon users to have to spend so much to get a real 1080p in 2012

S35 is 22mm horizontally?

I'm afraid that's the most logical move for a company in this situation :(

Or they will protect the C300 sales by giving crap video to anything below that price range (DSRLs included) like Sony did. If the c300 didn't exist I would have no doubt they will provide gh2-like new cameras. I wonder if the GH2 lowered the sales of the af100

I wanted to add that throughout the years since the canon 550d this is the worst aliased video I've ever seen. Canon went BACKWARDS with this camera. very disappointed

I was expecting this and honestly I don't see why this shouldn't indicate how the new DSLRs will be, this is not a stupid  "compact" camera with a small sensor, it's not even cheap! I don't see why they would put a worse video processing on this camera, I HOPE I'M WRONG
Once we get a real video sample from the new DSLRs if I don't see anything AT LEAST ON PAR with the GH2 I'm done with Canon

That's another proof that they just don't want to offer those specs!

It doesn't look awesome (relatively of course)  :)

The definitive proof will come from what the new canons will bring in terms on video quality if even canon will offer just a slightly better resolution that the previous line it's clear that the only way to go video is with Panasonic and I've always felt like canon will not bring anything new (except fro the 4k camera of course)

I really wonder how the resolution will be. if Its gh2 like then it's a waste it has a fixed lens

video resolution "sucks". its the same quality canon has been offering since movies on dsrl. nothing to see here, only 20% more res maybe. big deal, do they do know what GH2 can do?

that the dynamic range is worse there's no doubt since it's a smaller sensor, but that it resolves more resolution is real

its pretty clear the first two were canon and gh2!

Honestly I don't think the nikon j1/v1 have the res on par with the GH2, it's closer than the Sonys but not on par
