  2. 'Slow' USB chargers definitely exist (I use them myself) e.g. https://www.amazon.co.uk/JJC-Battery-Charger-Olympus-Cameras/dp/B08DR6BY2Z and https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ayex-Charger-Olympus-BLH-1-Batteries/dp/B07BSWH8QN
  3. They also have a tradition of CFexpress card. Their z6 camera came out only with one Cfexpress card, and they did get a lot of backlash because of it, as it was quite rare at the time. With the release of the z62, just like 2 years after the z6 with a cfexpress card and a SD card slot.

    Nikon Zr is coming

    Stills to micro SD
  6. Absolutely. I could not work without a camera with great stability and I mean great, not merely OK. If it can be achieved digitally, I’m OK with that but yes, Lumix is the best I have seen and experienced. I have my S9 set up to be ‘gimbal like’ with both mechanical and digital IBIS, but it’s not reliable enough for consistency and next year I am going to pick up (for the 4th time 🙄) a gimbal, except this time it won’t have a camera that needs balancing, ie Pocket 3.
  7. Canon Should try any current Lumix camera for hand held IBIS work. They are very good and there is a good portion of what I shoot now where I don't have to be on a gimbal!
  8. No, but Canon isn't competing with itself.
  9. Yes lots of nice cars on show. Made for a nice day, to get out and do something. i did think the camera did ok with battery life. As i would turn it on and off between shots. although i did lose time when people would wander through the frame and i'd have wait for them to wander out of frame. I noticed that increasing the iso made it harder for the peaking to work. Well thats my conclusion anyway. Luckily cars have lots of bright shiny parts to focus on. I'll get a second battery, probably have a look at a usb charger, if i can can find such a beast. My current car has a dual battery set up for when i go away camping, it would be nice to able to charge batteries off the grid. My drone can be charged from 12v and a few other things, i'm sure it can be done but i haven't looked into yet. Used to own a charade that had 990 cc engine, that thing could rev ... and you needed to rev it to get it moving. Not sure i ever passed anyone in that car. 1. I lived in suburbia at the time and 2. It felt like you really were taking life and limb into consideration when doing anything "courageous"
  10. Honestly, I tried IBIS with the R5 and was underwhelmed. I ended up buying a second R5C and the Digital IS along with lens IS is perfect for my needs. But also, has Canon ever put IBIS in any of their C-line cams?

    Nikon Zr is coming

Remember Nikon 1 system? That was also crippled by microSD. Its a Nikon tradition.
  13. Other than the sensors and Redcode, it's hard to think of what interesting tech there is to add. Redcode to SD card? 🤣 Maybe in MQ, LQ, and ELQ modes (in modern Red terminology) and maybe in LQ at 3:2. "HQ - High data rate - Up to ~ 280 MB/s (~30 minutes recording time)* MQ - Medium data rate (default) - ~175 MB/s (~48 minutes recording time)* LQ - Lowest data rate - ~110 MB/s (~1 hour and 17 minutes recording time)* * Data rate assumes camera settings at 6K 17:9, 23.98 FPS. Recording time assumes a 512 GB CFast card. Your actual data rate will depend on complexity of the shooting scene and capture settings. Data rates subject to change with future updates." (https://docs.red.com/955-0196_v1.6/Content/4_Menus/ProjSet/R3D_Quality.htm) SD card benchmarks: https://alikgriffin.com/ultimate-guide-memory-cards/ The very fastest one tested managed 268MB/s write speed and I'd be willing to bet that the person writing the article didn't write continuously for 10+ minutes. MicroSD, on the other hand, just seems insane. Proxies, maybe? But why? Who is asking for MicroSD in a full-sized camera? A second SD card which can plug directly into most laptops would make a lot more sense.
  14. Car wobble can be prevented by IBIS lock. Most of the heat comes from CPU and CFe cards, not sensor.
  15. I think it could be directing vs ZV-E1 with with that microsd, if was seriously it need to be cfexpress card.
  16. There is, car wobble, and thermal won't be as good as sensor sticking directly to thermal plate.

    Nikon Zr is coming

And nobody believes that with a microSD card. But it's completely ok to be Z30 with full frame sensor.
  18. There is no drawback to have IBIS and not using it.
  19. Thank god for that. I presume Canon will put a decent OLPF in it like they normally do, so my biggest concern now is read out speed.
  20. This is why I think it is targeting the FX3 type market. That is a small form factor camera from RED!!! I mean Nikon, that will compete for the small form factor Video/Cine market for 3 to 4 thousands USD. My guess it will give you all the video/cine tools that are not necessarily present in Nikon Z cameras, at least for now. I can't see this camera, not coming out with Lut Support and false colors for example. I see Nikon marketing it as Mini red, with red color Science etc, to event/documentary/wedding filmmakers. Or to even Nikon shooters that might want one of their bodies with more video centric tools.

    Nikon Zr is coming

Yea, Z30 mentioned in the rumor since the first day it appeared was a sign of what was to come.
  22. The Nikon Z30 is the same form factor of a Fx3. It is more or less, a brick with a lens mount and a fully articulating screen.

    Nikon Zr is coming

    Nope, its not targeting FX3.
  24. Latest rumor's Brick-shaped, video-oriented design, without pentaprism and EVF – a combination of the current RED models design, the Sony FX3, and the Nikon Z30 Many features and tech from RED will be incorporated inside Z6 III sensor (24MP) Very large LCD screen 6K (intra-frame compression) Image stabilization 1 SD and 1 microSD card slots Announcement: September 10th Second time I see that it has a SD and MicroSD card!!! The only reason, I would think that they would use a micro SD, is for a backup lower bitrate recording on a second card. This has been one of the gripe people have been having with Nikon. But even the SD card is puzzling for me. Is their SD cards fast enough for ALL-intra codec, and my guess it will implement REDraw. For a company that has used so much CFexpress card, I am a bit astonished.
  25. 53 minutes recording 6k 30p continuously 31 degrees Celsius in the shade before the heat warning came on but it kept rolling and the speech ended before I got to experience a shutdown. Not too shabby!
  26. My experience with E-M1 iii is that the battery life is pretty good (certainly compared to some Panasonic M43 cameras I've owned), but I would always take a spare battery with me if I was planning to shoot a reasonable amount of video. (That's a nicely kept red Citroën Ami on the left of the 2nd photo - brings back memories of the later Citroën Visa that my wife owned years ago, powered by a 650cc air-cooled 2-cylinder engine. At only 35bhp It was rather underpowered but that made it great fun to drive - just to make reasonable progress you had to thrash it hard and overtaking needed serious forward planning 😀)
