Death of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele / Trump remarks / Son arrested
BTM_Pix replied to Andrew - EOSHD's topic in Cameras
There is something about his post about Rob Reiner that has really had a big impact on me. I thought I’d become desensitised to the depravity, stupidity and contemptuous lies but this one is different. Almost like a test of what he believes he can get away with and a test of how much people around him would let him get away with. The answer to both of those is now, clearly, whatever the fuck he wants to. -

I'd like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. I'm not doing so well this year, have sold most of my gear and EOSHD is not making any income. I may have to sell my UK home next. Even through the difficult times however, it's one thing - creativity, and the love of images and film that keeps me marching on. So I am wishing everyone a very creative Christmas, as well as many happy moments spent with your loved ones.

Sigma Fp review and interview / Cinema DNG RAW
Andrew - EOSHD replied to Andrew - EOSHD's topic in Cameras
Any Sigma Fp-L owners about? It seems like a rare thing, the 60 megapixel pocket monster. One of the few cameras I refuse to part with though. -
It was a real low blow. Everyone has a big respect for Rob's achievement in filmmaking, the joy he brought to millions... Has the fucking penny dropped yet in the heads of these astonishing idiots who are in Trumps' fantasy land with him. It's a proper fucking cult. He has turned half of America into a right-wing cult. I don't know what's worse though... Is it the fantasy land of America-first narcissism or these kind of psychotic displays when someone dies... of him celebrating someone's death, throwing a pack of insults out to the family, at the time of the biggest tragedy of their lives, I can't even imagine what Rob's daughter is going through right now having found them all dead and then the media circus and that fucking cunt chiming in from his government hideout. He is simply incapable of forgetting or forgiving.

I've been enjoying his stories of the celebrity portrait shoots from the 90s and 2000s For a start the guy's work is fantastic, a great eye and a great instinct... superb really, and fascinating to hear his creative re-telling of the shoots. But in these videos he's also really candid about the stars, and their dreaded publicists / PR handlers A mixture of great... to really lacking respect for the photographer's art. The Paul McCartney one is pretty shocking but not as bad as Hilary Clinton 🙂 Love the PJ Harvey stuff though.

The big question is, who is the more delusional; the current POTUS or Jake Paul, because both clearly exist in the most extraordinary fantasy land that only exists in their own, what passes for, minds. But what do I know 🤷♂️ -

That's very true, they don't understand exactly what goes on in the neural networks. Then again I don't understand what goes on in the mind of other people, so that makes two of us

Dear @zlfan These posts are like spam. So I am going to put your account on pause while I look into whether you're a bot. Too many incidences of low quality posting recently and I have to make an editorial decision to protect the place, ok?

5.2k 1x3 is about 3k 1x1 to my eyes.
-
for 700d/650d/eosm/100d, 5.2k 1x3 2.40:1 24p is about 3.75 MB/frame x 24 frame/s x 1.4 x 0.7 = 90 MB/s, with the lexar silver card, this mode may be continuous. this is s35 full frame for these crop mood cameras, the live view is high res color mode even in crop modes, practically very useful.
-
another useful mode on 5d3ml is 3.5k 1x1 mode, it can do 16:9, most importantly, it is s35 so that many cinema lenses are adaptable to this mode. 7MBx24x1.4x0.7 ia sbout 170 MB/s, so if do 10 bit, 3.5k 1x1 16:9 is continuous, maybe 12 bit will work.
-
dual iso is possible in this uhd 1x1 mode on 5d3 ml, can increase 2-3 stops, at the expense of possible moire and alias in the highlight area. i watched uhd 1x1 dual iso travel footage, i did not see the moire and alias,, or they were not eye catching. the practical problem is the striped monitoring when using dual iso.
-
5d3 ml in 1x1 uhd mode can only have 2:40:1 and larger aspect ratio, so each frame is 6 MB, so 6 x 24 x 0.7 = 100 MB/s. for 12 bit, 6x24x0.7x1.2= 120 MB/s, for 14 bit, 6x24x0.7x1.4=140 MB/s. so UHD 1x1 24p 2.40:1 14 bit lj92 lossless may be continuous if using fast cards, card spanning, sd card overclocking. so 5d3ml is still relevant. and it is 4k 14 bit, crop ratio 1.3 to 1.4 in uhd 1x1 mode.

with global draw off, 5d3 ml can do uhd 2.40:1 24p 10 bit color depth lj92 lossless ml raw continuously, 8 MB / frame x 24 frames / s x 0.7 (lj92 lossless compression least compression coefficiency) = 140 MB/s < 145 MB/s. maybe 12 bit too in some cases.
-
some cards like lexar silver can do 100 MB/s, stably at 80 MB/s, this is better than cf card. this makes 650d/700/deosm/100d better than r1mx in terms of data stream writing speed. 5d3 ml has 145 mMB/s, about the same as epic-x, maybe a little less, not much. so 14 bit color depth is more possible with many modes. also, 200d may have a 15-bit mode, the highest in all video camera, including alexa.

Sad, sad, sad. RIP. Who can forget when the Bunkers first met his character, the progressive Michael “Mike” Stivic — the liberal, college-educated son-in-law nicknamed “Meathead” by his conservative father-in-law, another towering character, Archie Bunker — back when he was still an actor, before his filmmaking career? Legends from my coming-of-age years... echoed by many others, whether reading this or not, far beyond these pages. - EAG -

Sad news about Rob Reiner, and his wife, gifted photographer, Michele. The President says he died due to "Trump derangement syndrome" and the "anger he caused others". Writing in a social media post: "[Reiner] has passed away together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as Trump Derangement Syndrome". "He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J Trump" Obviously, I find this troubling on so many levels. A real insight. That he can't even write RIP to one of Hollywood's greatest or send condolences to his family without making it all about himself and implying that Reiner had a mental illness. I think it's time for anyone who voted for him to take a bit of a step back from politics (if capable of that) to think about what they have done and who he is. And if after that you still can't bring yourself to snap out of the cult, but you still happen to be a forum member here I would like to ask you to leave. Hopefully you have already. In contrast here's how Ben Stiller remembers the Spinal Tap director, who like Rob had a comedian father... https://x.com/BenStiller/status/2000441874662961291 "He came out form behind a huge comedic shadow of the great Carl Reiner and being a tv actor to being a a great director who made an incredible run of movies. Spinal Tap is one of the best comedies ever made - and the list goes on. He was a kind caring person who was really really funny." Now there are reports coming from gossip outlets that Reiner and his wife were murdered by their son Nick who is now in police custody. What a shocking Hollywood tragedy and just an awful way for such great souls to go out, who have given us so much. Go and see Spinal Tap 2 everyone. RIP Rob & Michele Reiner.

For a still image? Photons to photos has never measured one - their highest measured DR is between 13 and 14 stops on some Phase One. They have the A7V and the GFX 100 II about equal at ISO 80/100. If you want some landscape photos from my GFX 100 II, I can certainly share a few. For video, it's not exactly a mirrorless (but same sensor as in the mirrorless S1R II), but supposedly the Ronin 4D 8K in DR expansion mode has 16.3 total stops on the cined chart, but like most cameras, a lot less than that at a usable SNR.
-
It honestly gives me a "plastic feel". I don't know, it's like the texture of the things appearing in the video can't be related to anything "alive", anything that materially exists and so can transmit an impression of actual feeling. And on a side note, that disappearing shoe... The channel's description : H E L P

The high dynamic range (using DGO technology) in the Sony A7 V is for low to middle ISO stills when using the mechanical shutter; DGO is not used for video, and certainly there won't be any 16-stop dynamic range at ISO 3200 or 8000. The claimed 16 stops is likely achieved on a signficantly downsampled ISO 100 still image and criteria based on engineering dynamic range (SNR = 1). Do the EOSHD website and browsers used by visitors support high dynamic range photos on Super Retina XDR and other HDR screens? Otherwise, I'm not sure what the OP is looking to see. Having lower noise can't harm the image and it's up to the user to make use of the higher fidelity, or not make use of it.
