  1. I took a look at my footage of 5d3ml using 5.7k anamorphic or 3.5k crop mode pixel by pixel 14 bit color lossless ml raw. I cannot help smiling. the color is the best, the resolution is good enough even to the current standard. only f3 with the Zeiss lens can reach to similar level in terms of color. color, color, color.
  2. g9ii has the best ibis in Panasonic Lumix line m43 (now surely gh7), g9ii is little worse than s5ii at 24mm ff, but much better than s5ii at 120mm ff. Olympus om-1 surely is better than g9ii. seems to me that full frame ibis is not mature yet, unless you want to only use wide angle lenses. at 24mm or wider, s5ii seems very good.
  3. This is comparable to canon's lens optical is. at 200mm, it is acceptable. with resolve's digital is added, it may work ok.
  4. it is good to know that eis works with walking on om-1. this helps me to make the decision to buy one. I am happy already with stable standstill shots, some panning and tilting. walking is a plus, not essential. thanks for the detailed reply. regards,
  5. nice. good for mtv and commercial work.
  6. another lens with beautiful flare is the affordable soviet helios 44-2 50mm f2 or 58mm f2, forgot the exact name. very strong flare, but very beautiful, artistic.
  7. I used to shoot a lot using helicoid with enlarging lenses. great iq. flares a lot due to no coating. if put on a lens hood or Matt box, they have some of the best iq I have seen. nowadays people think flare is artistic, then they are probably the most artistic lenses as they are naked. lol.
  8. thanks for the footage. walking seems having some jittering. seems related to the lens. maybe it is wide angle? I think davinci resolve digital stabilization may smoothen it out. the standstill stabilization is perfect. regards,
  9. 10 years ago I used ltm Leica 50mm f2 on em-5 for video. In the bright sun, there is dreamy look, not sharp, milky like, maybe due to the single coating. if paired with a latest sharp camera, it will look nice. modern lenses cannot have this kind of vintage look. just like super baltar s35 lenses. very artistic. not everyone's cup of tea though.
  10. there is latex adapter to permanently change the mount. I have my Leica r 19mm f2.8 and r100 f2.8 changed to ef mount. very robust. I bought each $80-$100 10 years ago. not sure now.
  11. sorry it is l39 to eos m adapter. l39 to m43 adapter should be available too. I use a voiglander 25mm f4 m mount more than 10 years on em5. the adapter has no issue. the lens is very sharp.
  12. those l39 lenses are small and affordable. currently I couple a Leica l39 50mm f3.5 retractable with eon m crop mood ml. very nice iq. not much larger than go pro 12. I normally don't use nd filters, I just change shutter speed, aperture, and iso. no big deal. if really want to go strict, then get a small rig mini Matt box. I want to keep everything small. I just use a generic l39 to m43 dumb adapter bought from eBay. no issue. seem focus to the infinity. I check focus using 10x on eon m, very convenient.
  13. I think for the next 10 years, my cameras for manual focus lenses will be om-1 and om-5/mkii. I will use om-1 with a battery grip to balance 43 shg and hg zooms, 135 ff and medium format big mf prime and zoom lenses. I will use om-5/ii with m43 primes or Leica m l39 primes, 135 ff small primes. not as good as ff as there is a cropping factor of 2, but is more robust and proven in terms of ibis.
  14. I think if for ibis, currently, om1/ii is the best choice, em1 iii/x is the second choice, gh7 with dual is is the the third choice. ff ibis may take another 5-10 years to mature.
  15. si/sir/sih ibis seems not as good as s5 iix, significant less stable than gh7, om-1/ii.
  16. i still think a good ibis is a must if going small. the reason i like olympus is because the whole system can be very small, due to the fact that the body, the lens are small, and there is no need for tripod, monopod, or steadicam, etc. on the other hand, even om-1's ibis seems not smooth enough for walking? even so, as long as i can hold om-1 to have steady shots, smooth pans and tilts, i am happy. this is very good for travel, or stealthy news or events.
  17. how can you stabilize bmpcc 6k ff?
  18. I guess that maybe next year bm will come up with 8k bmpcc ff or even 12k bmpcc ff, that is why 6k bmpcc ff is half the price. bm 8k bmpcc ff makes sense, as it will cut the margin of red v-raptor hard. interesting to see 8k bmpcc ff vs r5 ii/r5c ii.
  19. this is the most difficult scene, because dr is so drastic. yet gh7 is ok, not as good as Alexa but not bad neither. in real world project, it is easy to adjust the light intensity and direction and distance to reduce the dr. gh7 in real world shooting in one of the previous pool scenes is very close to Alexa.
  20. I already have different kinds of video cams. 4k or oversampled 1080p are enough for me. 11 stop dr is fine for me too. I need latest cams mostly for the ibis. I have go pro 12 as a pocket cam, I will buy an om-1 during the Christmas season. I have not decided a full frame one yet.
  21. z6 iii's achilles' heel is ibis. otherwise, I probably will pull the trigger, as it has 6k raw 6p, 20 fps for 1000 frames, z-mount shortest flange distance. af seems good.
  22. right now there are not many good video cams for c mount lenses, gopro12 c mount cam is one of them. not a single good cam is for d mount lenses. this is very promising.
  23. 444 vs 420, mostly is for post grading. I see clearly that 10 bit has more room than 8 bit, 444 more flexible than 420. my impression is that 8 bit 420 can easily generate color artifacts if I use color boost in resolve, whereas 10 bit 422 is much easier to apply color boost but there is still color spilling, whereas raw (basically 444) has no such issues at all.
